achen2013 Tip #2: Keep yourself motivated. Many people start out writing a book/story and then towards the middle, they'd stop. If you really want to finish writing that amazing story, stay motivated on working through. Add in an unexpected twist for fun! :D

7714st A new short story of mine. It was a long, hot bus ride after a long, hot field trip. The windows were open, so it cooled down a bit. Everyone was talking, their voices tumbling over each other. I was tired, yawning again and again. Henry sat next to me, his head against the window, eyes closed. I watched him, smiling slightly. He already had laugh lines, at such a young age. We sat so close that another person could have sat in the seat with us, with a little bit of room. My eyes started drooping. I looked over at Henry, he had sat up. I argued with myself inside, trying to decide whether or not our classmates would make fun of us if I put my head on his shoulder to sleep. Ultimately I chose to set my head down and face the humiliation. It never came. An hour and a half long bus ride, but I couldn't fall asleep. I kept awake, my eyes closed. Every time his hair or skin so much as brushed my head, a light shock ran down my body, butterflies turning figure eights in my stomach. I heard conversations, things said that I would have never known otherwise. Winding roads, straight roads, but always on the highway. For quite some time the sun shone down right on us, illuminating my every feature. I silently begged him to hold my hand, put his arm around me, something to show he cared. I knew he cared, so why did it matter so much that he showed it. I knew he was not a very affectionate person, I understood that. But I was affectionate. I was a hopeless romantic, always wishing. I thought nothing would happen when at last we were in the last five or so minutes of the ride. I was wrong, as usual. Thinking me still asleep, he leaned down and ever so gently kissed me on my head. "Wake up sleepy head."

7714st I Wish for Fireworks- He kissed her. And there were fireworks. * * * She had been getting ready all day. She was going to a New Year's party in her boyfriends neighborhood, and she was ecstatic. After a week of thinking about it, her parents finally decided that her family could go. It had been a week of miracles. A white Christmas, happiness, and a new pet in the family. It seemed that the miracles would never end. When she got there, he saw her right away. She smiled and he smiled back. They went to go show the game room to her sister. The sister challenged the girl to Foosball. The girl reluctantly agreed, but insisted on having her boyfriend on her team. Since he was skilled at Foosball, the girl and her boyfriend won. The sister went off to look for food. She asked if he had received her present for him in the mail. He smiled hugely. "It was the best present I got." She smiled, and it was the biggest she had smiled in a long while. He handed her a present. He grinned, but put on a shy face and said "It's not much." She opened it. "It's prefect!" She hugged him. It was perfect, even if she hadn't really told him what she wanted. He shuffled his feet. She looked into his eyes. "It's amazing." She told him, and she meant it. For the next hour, they played Foosball, air hockey, darts, and ping pong, every game down in the basement. Then she had an idea. "Let's go to the tree house." They checked with their parents, avoided their siblings, and made it down there without anyone seeing them. They sat there for awhile, just talking. Then she got serious. "Was I right they you haven't had a girlfriend before me, or your first kiss?" He looked her straight in the eye and said "Yeah, you were right. Guess that makes me kind of lame." "Let me tell you a secret," She said. She motioned for him to come closer so she could whisper in his ear, even though no one was around. "I haven't had my first kiss either." With that, she kissed him on the cheek. He grinned from ear to ear and so did she. He grabbed her hand and for a minute they just sat there, enjoying the night. When they walked back they kept their hands entwined. They didn't hurry. It was a slow stroll, watching the snow fall softly and the moon glitter. For the next few hours, they were harassed by their siblings, they ate cookies, drank soda, watched TV, and crashed on the couch. Then it was only five minutes until midnight. She said, "We should go outside and be away from the crowds." He agreed. They went out and looked at the stars. He saw a shooting star about fifteen seconds before midnight. "Make a wish," He said. She wished, and inside they counted down. "10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!" On ten he had said "I think I know what your wish is." "What?" She asked. Then it was midnight. * * * He kissed her. And there were fireworks.
