When I told him, he said stuff about the guy I liked like, "He tries to be cool but he's not, no one likes him, he's mean and says stuff behind other people's backs." I honestly don't care about the cool part, cool is overrated. And there's always gonna be people who don't like you, right? But I'm wondering whether to believe my friend about the mean part. One of the traits I value most in a guy is their niceness. The guy I like is my brother's friend. He's come over a lot and has never done anything to make me think he's mean. Adults always talk about him as being polite too, and I haven't heard any other rumors. This has happened before when another of my guy friends said stuff about the guy I liked at that time (a different guy) that I had never heard. What do you think?

Jpschlenz I'd just tell them, they are your parents and they should understand and love you no matter what (or who ever you date). Besides, dating should be your choice, not theirs, so tell them and try to reach an understanding with them. :)
