Under the Egg by Laura Marx Fitzgerald

1 1
Have an itch for art? If so, you need to pick up this book. Under the Egg by Laura Marx Fitzgerald is the perfect mix of comedy and suspense with a dash of art history. Read along as the life of Theodora Tenpenny gets flipped upside down. When her grandpa Jack suddenly dies, Theo becomes in charge. And even though it is only her and her mother, life is difficult when you can barely afford to pay at the Laundromat. Jack made all the money in the family so now Theo must try to find a way to make some dough while keeping an eye on her slightly insane mother.

Before he died, Jack told Theo to look under the egg to find the treasure. Confused as to what he meant, Theo went on with her days not thinking much of it. Then, everything changes. When Theo stumbles upon a beautiful piece of art that looks incredibly expensive, she’s taken over by fear instead of thrilled at the idea of of selling it for cash.

You see, Jack had two jobs before he passed: He was a painter and he was a security guard at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Theo quickly comes to the conclusion that the painting wasn’t simply a family heirloom, but it was something that had been stolen. Conflicted as to what to do, Theo must figure out how handle the situation at hand.

With surprising twists, heartwarming moments and historical facts, Laura Marx Fitzgerald creates the perfect adventure in Under the Egg. Art enthusiast or not, any girl will love this book. And after reading it, you’re going to want to take a trip to an art museum ASAP.
