Actually, when I txt my BGF (we r just friends tho), I always have to text first. Idk why, he usually always responds and gets into the convo, but he just doesn't txt me first. I guess maybe that's just how he is, and that could be how your crush is too. And about him texting the popular girl, are you sure he texts first? And if he is the one to text her first, although I hate to say it, perhaps he has feelings for her. But hey, we don't know for sure, so just be yourself and have fun- don't stress over anything!
