I wish I could see a musical! We only went to NY for maybe 3 days, which is a crazy small amount of time for such an awesome city! One of my favorite parts about NY is kind of weird- I thought the taxis were sooo cool! Some of the drivers didn't talk much, but we got a few that told us so much about NY. I'd like to see The Lion King, I've heard such great things about it! Have you seen a musical?
annbug on 2/16/2010 7:44:07 AM
Oh, I just realized that you did tell me what an Athair and Mamie is, sorry!
annbug on 2/15/2010 4:24:54 PM
No, I'm not confused at all! Hmm a few things about my family, let's see. Well I live with my mom and my little sister Lauren. She's on GirlsLife too, her profile name is laurkat. I live in Florida. My parents divorced when I was about three, but my dad lives very nearby. I see him a lot, more than most people with divorced parents do anyway. I have a dog named Pepsi because that's my mom's favorite drink I can't really think about anything in particular that I like about America, since I have nothing to compare it to. I've never been out of the country, and I've only been to three states- I live in Florida, I go to Pennsylvania nearly every summer, and I went to New York for my first time last summer! I loved New York, but I don't think I could live there, it's much too crazy for me. It's probably much quieter outside of the city though. I really like Pennsylvania, although it's hard for me to get used to the hills- Florida is very flat, the only hills are usually manmade. I'd love to go somewhere like Ireland, or France, or Italy. I am a blonde, so I might seem unusual in Ireland, but I'm a dark blonde, so I wouldn't stick out too much haha and I love potatoes! What's an Athair and Maime? I'm guessing it's Irish for Mom and Dad, right? Wow I wrote a lot Okay have a nice day!

Hey cool profile! -Peace-
XXvampireXX on 2/14/2010 8:48:05 AM
yeah i did watch the opening ceremonies. it was really cool. but it was kinda annoying cause they only showed the nature part of canada. we have cities too. and a double-double is a coffee with 2 milks and 2 sugars. you should go to a coffee place and order one!
kgirlpanda on 2/13/2010 1:47:15 PM
hey! you're from ireland? that's really cool. i'm a bit irish. and you just moved to the states? cool. i'm canadian so we don't use quite the same phrases (bet any of the americans reading this don't know what a double-double is!) i always find it funny how people who don't live in america call it "the states" but you'd never hear an american say that. (there's some comment in a community channel video about this "why do foreigners call it the states? i don't call australia the island." i guess that means i live in "the snow".) european people always speak really proper english. over here there's more slang than you thought possible!!
kgirlpanda on 2/12/2010 8:46:48 PM
Hi! Did you just move to a new country (USA?!)?? Don't worry you'll get you'll get use to the terms and language of English. Before you know it you'll be speaking fluently! And the comment you gave me had no mistakes! you should check out these websites: http://thesaurus.reference.com/ It shows synonyms(words that mean the samething as another word). Type the word you want in the search box. Also check out google translate: http://translate.google.ca/?hl=&ie=UTF-8&text=&sl=es&tl=en# It translates your language, of the words or sentence you type in the box. Remember choose the language you're translating from! Here's another thing. Check if the school you go to has a program called ESL (English as a Second Language), you could also apply for that if you want. Hope this helps! Ask me if you need more advice; I'd like to help again! xoxo Joyce

I have some Irish in me, but I've never been to Ireland. I'd love to go though. How is it different from America? (Besides that it's less rainy ) Yay I know some Irish words! I'm taking Spanish at school, and I've been looking up some Russian words online so I can talk to this Russian guy in my class haha I wanted to surprise him, but he just said I was pronouncing them wrong.. That was random. Hm is there any thing you're wondering about, like certain slang, or things you're confused about in America? I'd be glad to help! -Ann

Hi! I think that it's so neat that you're from Ireland!!! I love Glee too, who is your favorite character? Personally, I like the guidance counselor lady So do you live in America or Ireland? Bye
annbug on 2/10/2010 7:07:40 PM
You're welcome! You're quite right about that, girls and boys have the same issues everywhere, haha. No, it wasn't offensive at all, you used that phrase perfectly thanks for offering advice. as for the girl whom you saw dressed in black and bright colors, that is a sort of style of dress that some people have here in the US. It is usually called "goth" you know, from "gothic" meaning dark in the Middle Ages. "Goth" people usually dress in all black. I don't happen to be friends with anyone who dresses in this style, so I'm not quite sure why people do so, but I guess it's just a matter of personal expression. about the picture taking, the gesture which looks like a greater than sign is actually a symbol of peace here! i'm not exactly sure why LOL. but my friends and i often do that in pictures, it is just a fun pose. oh and when someone sticks out his/her tongue in a picture, they are just being silly. Now that I think about it we have some very odd customs here in America! I guess it is different everywhere xoxo Sera

Hello sydney! I'm from Dunquin beyond Tralee and Dingle, Ireland. I was born in the states but I was raised in Ireland. I just moved to the USA and learning the slang is very difficult! I'm fluent in English but in my english classes my professor taught me proper English. I would love to know more if you'd like to teach me! I also see you have a music note as your picture square! I love music very much. Hope to talk to you soon and maybe I can teach you a beag about Ireland as well. síocháin! (Which in English means Peace I think, more along the lines of hope you are well and in good fortune.)
