Hey drizzledash, since your profile is it public ally viable I will answer it on mine. the object of football is to score (and win). A touchdown is when the ball is thrown into the end zone and the caught by another player and is worth 6 points. A field goal is is when a kicker kicks the ball through the goalposts. and is worth 3 points. There are two parts of a team, offense and defense. Offense tries to score, and defense tries to get the ball away from the other team, and give it to the offense so they can score. To score, the offense tries to get the ball into the end zone, when is ten yards from the goal post (those yellow things sticking up at each end of the field). When you kick the ball into the end zone, it is called a touchdown. This is normally how they score. I am not even going to go into downs and distance because I would end up writing an essay on the subject. I got all the stuff that I didn't really know how to explain from About.com Football.
