Summer pet safety Many of us have pets that we absolutly adore, am i right? Summer is about having fun, hanging with friends, throwing parties, a break from school, and another great benefit of summer is the great variety of food. Whether you prefer biting into a juicy cheeseburger or munchin' on fruit salad, you should be aware of some major health problems for pets. For example, dogs cannot consume grapes nor can they eat chocolate. Chocalate contains certain chemicals, including caffeine and theobromine, which can cause erratic heartbeat and if enough is consumed, can even kill your pup. So take a second to think next time you drop a piece of brownie or even a grape from a fruit salad, because picking it up can save you from a trip to the vet. Some foods that are harmful to cats are baby food, canned tuna (for humans), chocolate, macadaamia nuts, mushrooms, and even genorous amounts of salt! One more thing i have to add, make sure you keep water available! In this heat, your pet could dehydrate just like a human. So in conclusion, be careful this summer and be sure to give your pet lots of TLC.
