Ok, so um ... this is kind of awkward. Last year all of my friends started treating me like dust and now I'm kind of afraid to trust my friends. I have a friend who is kind of friends with those who ditched me and I don't know what to make of her. Advice?

"Hi i have a problem with songwriting i always want to write a song but when i get started on it i get bored and start reading a book or I play the piano to see what notes match the beat and I get them wrong every time any advice?"
lolpop1232 on 1/20/2011 7:28:12 PM

@lolpop1232:
Hey Girlie! Hey, for some people (Taylor Swift) it takes about 10 minutes to write a hit song! For some others, it may take awhile. I wrote 5 songs so far. I think you should start with the lyrics first, not the music. Well, it works for me. I find out the lyrics, then figure out the music to go with the lyrics.

Here are some of my tips to create a song!
I think about something in my life, my emotions towards things, whatever. Like, I wrote about a mistake I made and it turned my friend into a "pretty little strutting little pageant queen." When you figure out a time in your life you want to write about, think about your emotions towards it. If it's happy, mad, etc, it's easier to figure out the words to the song, and of course the music!

I'll give you a little part of one of my songs I wrote to help you understand better.

OK, this is called "Our Fairytale." It's about my friend who liked this guy, and I wrote real memories between them.
This is the chorus:

You were my 1st love
At first sight
That summer
Just the two of us together
Happily ever after
Laughing at the lake
Just us
Sunsets shining bright
The two of us forever
Happily ever after
This was our fairytale!

-OK, do you see the emotion in that? It's happy. So I used happy memories and brought them into the song. Think about the words you use. Don't be dull and not enough specific. Don't use the words "Something, that, etc" Think of more metaphors, similes, more detailed better choice of words in a song.

Here is a second song I wrote (The one about my friend changing). The emotion is annoyed, mad, etc. Here's the chorus:

(Chorus)
I won’t forgive! Or forget!
This is tearing me apart
So get ready, get set
Wished that time had never met
It’s the story of the mean
A story of a girl
A changing to a little pretty little strutting pageant queen!
It’s the story of the best
A story of regret
The stupid of a little sorry wanna be?
Why did she say yes?

Now, I admit I want to make edits and revisions in that chorus. But listen, don't go too hard on yourself when doing this. For some people it's a little trickier. Start off with a memory you have of your life, your friends', etc. Think about the emotion, write the chorus that is pretty catchy, and you like. Make sure you use words that goes with the emotion to your memory. Write the whole song, and look back at what you wrote. It should be easier now to figure out what needs to be changed, and figure out words to replace "this" with. Any other questions? Feel free to ask! Hope I was some help!

"glgirlslifefan!!! i am starting middle school next year and me and my friends are worried about it, so are there any tips you can give me???"
girlegurl333 on 1/17/2011 9:10:50 PM

@girlegurl333:
Hey Chica! Hey, I'm going through middle school at this moment! I'm in the middle of my years at middle school and I hope I can tell you what I'm experiencing. Middle school is nothing to worry about. It's the years when you go through many changes, make new friends, and get more into guys. Be prepared for the drama. Middle school is full of drama! OK, so you start middle school, you're the youngest grade, right? Well the older grades can tease you, scare you on what's coming up, talk about crushes with y'all. You will get into these sticky situations and there will be times where you go through these emotions where you feel sad, happy, depressed, etc. It's normal, don't freak out. Definitely be prepared for more homework! Try to get a lot done during study breaks at school. Make sure you study really hard for tests and quizzes, so pay attention in class! Smile

Here's the thing about drama. There are rumors spreading in school, not just about students, but about teachers. The older grades just like to have fun and "be funny" and goof around. You may experience rumors about people in your grade "going out." Don't let those two words fool you chickadee. That just means they like each other a lot and are like in a way for their age "boyfriend and girlfriend.

The bad thing about middle school is friendship. Now, you may think it won't happen, but it can. Losing friends. I lost a very good friend when I started middle school. We've been friends since 2nd grade! Frown You're friends can change, and so can you. They might hang out with other friends and start to exclude you a little, but middle school is the time to find out who really are your friends, and who YOU are as a friend. Have fun making new friends, you never know what can happen! Smile Any more questions, talk to me! Smile
