ok so there is the boy that likes me, "dan." All the girls in my school say he is a total jerk, and mean and everything. Dan has never said or done anything mean to me before, but he has been texting me alot lately and i think he likes me. I know he is going to ask me out soon, and I don't know what to do!!! he seems really protectivve of me, like that he will punch any other guy that touches me and stuff but i dont know if he is telling the truth or just trying to get e to go out with him. What should I do???

Hey girlie,

If you like him, don't listen to what the other girls are telling you and go for it. BUT if you feel like he is being TOO protective of you then you need to tell him to back off a bit. That might be a reason why friends say that he is a jerk and mean because he is overprotective. If he asks you out and you're not feeling it then let him know that you really like being friends and you want to keep it that way. Make the best decision for you, not for everyone else.

Your BFF might be threatened by the fact that you have a BF and she doesn't. Tell her that you really like your BF and want to give him a shot and you want to know why she is so against him. If you like him don't push him away because your BFF doesn't. Try to spend as much time with her as you do with him, so she realizes that she isn't going to lose you as a friend because you are "taken."

Hey, I was wondering if you've ever had a friend who one of their parents died. My BGF's dad died about a month ago in a car/motercycle accident, and he's been really sad and everything and I don't know how to cheer him up. Also, I don't know how often to call him, because I want to be there for him, but I don't want to be stalking him or anything or not being there for him when he needs me. Any advice would be greatly appricialted!

I haven't had a friend lose a parent, but I have had friends lose a sibling. It's tough and it's going to take a long time for them to start feeling happy again. It's not that you should be trying to cheer him up, but you should let your BGF know that you are there for him whenever he wants to talk or vent or yell or just be silly. Call him often to let him know that you are thinking of him and don't worry how often you do it. He's not going to think that you are stalking him; he's going to appreciate how much you care for him and his family. If he's not in the mood to talk he'll tell you or not answer, but don't let that hurt your feelings because it's nothing against you.

(I feel so assertive doing that- sorry.)
Anyway, I have two problems.
1. My friends think I'm anorexic. I don't get hungry at lunchtime, or in the morning, I just don't, but they never see me eat. It makes me mad when they say I am. One friend even calls me "Ana." How can I convince them I'm not anorexic.
2. My best friend dumped me for her boyfriend. She doesn't talk to me anymore and if she does, it's about how great he is. They went out before and when he broke up with her, she cried, and I was the one who helped her get over it, and move on. When he asked her back out I expected her to say no, because I'd seen what he did to her, but instead she went running back to him. It upset me. I miss her, but I don't know if she's really worth it anymore. I'm responsible, and she's crazy, we used to be a good balance, but since high school started she's boy crazy, and I could care less. How do I get my friend back?

I can see why they are concerned that you are anorexic and the only thing you can really do to disprove that theory is to eat something in front of them. They are just worried about you and you need to let them know that you really are healthy and eating, but they just don't see it. If you don't get particularly hungry then you could eat little snacks or fruit.

As for your BFF, tell her how you feel about being "second choice." I bet if he broke up with her again she would run right back to you. Tell her that you miss her and want to be friends again, but if she doesn't make more of an effort to talk to you/hang out with you then you don't know if your friendship is worth it. It will be eye-opening for her because she'll realize that she can't be solely dependent on her BF.

Hey Malone,

That's a tough situation. You need to decide who you like more and just go for it. If it turns out to be Anthony then you should tell him how you feel. Calvin might not be allowed to date, but he might be allowed out on group dates or to talk to you on the phone. Find out. If that's the case you could get to know each other more and find out if it's him who you really like!

anyway, i have three besties and i think that they don't want to be my friend anymore! here are the signs: one, they ignore me in an conversation pretending like im not there, but not super obviously. two, they don't tell me any of their secrets, but they tell each other. three, two of them had a sleepover last weekend without thinking to invite me (my third bff lives really far away and can never go to sleepovers)and posted it all over facebook making it really obvious, they do that often. four, they always say they have stuff to do when i invite them over after school, just to hang out not sleepover. and five, at after school clubs or other places, when one of my bffs is with me and the other is in a different room, they text each other and try to cover it up that their not texting each other but its obvious, and i think they are talking about me or secrets they don't want me to know.
i know secrets they can keep between certain people but we have been friends for a long time and we trust each other. i cant just leave them, because then i will have no friends and my school is pretty small so i cant just make new friends. i don't want to talk to them about all this because then they will just cover it up and make it huge drama, i know they will, and it will just make me feel worse. sorry this is soooo long but i cant stand it anymore and i need some advice, what do i do???? and are they really mad at me/ditching me or am i just looking at stuff too seriously????
