Advertising in your neighborhood or community is an excellent way to spread the word!! Here are some tips for you to try in your community.

* Flyers

If you know how to use the graphics program on your computer, you can create an attractive flyer advertising your services. You can also create great flyers by hand with art supplies. Give your babysitting service a name and make sure to write in your name and phone number. You can place these flyers in mailboxes or on telephone poles. You can also visit your local grocery store and put one on the bulletin board.

* Visit a community center

Many community centers have programs for children, which parents bring them to during the week and weekend. You can bring one of your flyers to hang up on a bulletin board or you can ask to make an announcement at one of the classes.

* Talk to people

The more you spread the word about your availability for babysitting the more likely you will get a job. Even if you don't get a job through the people you talk to, one of those people may tell someone else who is looking.

* Place an ad in a community newspaper

If you have some left over babysitting money, take out an ad in the classifieds section of your local paper. Many people look for a babysitter in a newspaper.

* Ask relatives to spread the word

Have your relatives promote your services by asking people they work with if they need a babysitter.

* Volunteer at a childcare center

Volunteering is a great way to meet parents who already know you and trust you.

* Check with local colleges

Many parents go back to school in the summer and will need someone to care for their children during the day. Check the school's bulletin boards in the main building on campus or post one of your flyers.
