ok so contemporary ballet is like ballet...but not quite as structured. like..you have all the technique and it's all there...but not as serious...i don't know how to explain it. here- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mF2k4RRfBb0 thats a good video. as for your other question...no! you don't need to take any other classes before you start taking modern. it may help, but just for like a tiny bit of the technique you learn in ballet classes. modern is like a style in it's own. lyrical, however, is like ballet and jazz mixed together so therefore it would help to take ballet classes if you're thinking about trying lyrical.

hey girlie! well lyrical ties more into ballet and involves more ballet techniques. modern is more of its own category in terms of technique and moves. i personally take lyrical and not modern so im not excatly sure of any other differences. hope this helps!
