To stay motivated I would just think happy thoughts (I know that sounds cheesy but just try) Instead of saying "Ugg I have 3 more laps to this mile say "Alright one down and only 3 more to go". Be positive, it really helps. I also run the mile for track and I make myself go into my running zone and get very determined. So find a running zone in which you just focus on running and talk to yourself. I also zone out the world ( you may or may not want to do that) personally I can't help it, I just escape into my head. Alright now I sound like a dweeb... so be it I guess Smile

if you wanna faster mile
run some everyday(not the same amount, it doesn't help as much)
and maybe have a running buddy (they'll get you competitive)
also, 20 minutes of hard physical activity keep you in shape

hey chica,

do distnace runs at a good breathing pace. try running upright with your hips pushing out. keep good form and the only way to get endurance is to run more often. your heart will eventually get stronger and your lungs will too,thus, being able to pump more blood and oxygen to your muscles.

basically, for running you need to practice a lot. one thing that i do in winter is i play my ipod or radio in my room and run in place, i usually just run for one or 2 songs (3 to 6 mins.) you also should drinks lots of water, and after i workout i usually eat a banana.

practice breathing exercises. such as a problem that i have is holding my breath when i run which isnt good. when you run try taking deep breaths in and out. when you finish running get a drink f water then put your arms/hands on top of your head, this will help you oxygen get to your lungs better, if you seem tired while running you can try running with your hands/arms on top of your head then too.

as for getting faster, that just comes with practice. just work on running a little bit everynight and try adding time on everytime you run, try lifting your knees up high or try kicking your butt as you run (sounds weird but it will help your legs)
