I saw ur dilema, and this is what i think. Personally, i would just sort of drift away, and find new friends. If u guys have been like this (crosses fingers) since tots, then maybe u should try to rekindle the friendship. Overall, i would say, these girls aren't worth being around. Z (i think is the name) acts defensive probably either because a)Y said to, or b)because she feels guilty. I hope i gave some kind of advice here.
