I’m crazy about this color: Red. A fire-y red. Like maple leaves when the sun shines through them? yup. that's it.
My sibs: 3 of 'em= Maxine, Melanie, and Magurie. Here's something about Maxine=In the summer of 2008 my sister was diagnosed with Wilms tumor. It's a type of cancer. It started a few months before her birthday. She would wake up in the middle of the night screaming and crying because her back hurt her do badly. My mom told her it was probably growing pains and that she would get over it. About a month later I went to visit my grandma in Wisconsin for a week. It's a yearly thing that happens every summer. I was going to stay for more than a week this time. We were having so much fun together. I wanted to stay longer. Then, we got a phone call from my mom. She asked for my grandma and I handed the phone to her. Grandma took the phone and after a few seconds she walked into a different room. I bet deep down I knew why, I just couldn't face it. After a few minutes my grandma came back into the room. She mouthed, "You're going to go home tomorrow." and handed the phone to me. I talked to my mom and she told me that they were talking my sister to the Children's Hospital in Milwaukee. My dad and mom had taken her to our doctor during the week. He had told them that they should go to the Children's center. The next day I arrived at my house to my mom, dad, two sisters, and brother. Right away my parents left with my sister. I missed them so much. After a few days my dad came down to take us to the hospital to visit my sister. He said that they had something to tell us. The first thing that popped into my head was cancer. I knew it. It's a weird thing and it happens frequently... I just KNOW things sometimes. When we arrived in the hospital room I looked at my sister on the bed. She was wearing a robe that the hospital gave her. Her light brown hair was fanned out on the pillow, tangled. Her hazel eyes had dark bags under them. She had no color in her face. She looked so sick. I was so proud of her, though because she was smiling. The first thing she said to me was, " I have cancer." I balled. The tears wouldn't stop. I made my way, blinded my tears to my mom. Eventually I composed my self. I looked at my sister, she was still smiling. She went to chemotherapy and lost her hair. I remember her saying I want curly red hair every day. She had the tumor on her kidney ( which was eventually removed) and it spread to other parts of her body. It is now 2010 and she is a healthy and sisterly as ever. Her hair has grown back from Chemotherapy. It's medium brown and curly. She's all good! She does go for checkups every once in a while though.~~~~~~~ all of You girls are sooo strong, always remember that. You are role models. <3

I read your story about your sis, I am so happy she is healthy now How old was she when it all went through and how old were you? You have to be really strong. Congrats I go to Wisconsin every summer too, I love it. Also, since you love reading...I do too. You should read the book The Fault in Our Stars(unless you already read it) It is a really inspiring book about a girl who has cancer who falls in love with a boy who has it too. It was really amazing just like your story.

Thats so cool! A couple weeks ago, one of our language arts teachers was diagnosed with leukemia... we haven't heard anything yet, but we are hoping she will be ok.

No prob A kid at my school was diagnosed with Leukemia and was given a wish from Make-A-Wish. One of the teachers at my school was his "wish granter" which is someone who raises the money for the wish. The fee was $6000 dollars. The teacher picked a group of kids to be on the "Ricky's Wish Team" (I was one of them!) to help with fundraising. I am so happy to say that I found out today that we raised all the money! That's why I was so touched by your sister's story because I feel a special connection to people who have leukemia.
