Ok guys!! I got a bunch of comments about my story and so I have fixed some things and I have added on to it soo here it is

The Crash
Chapter 1
You know how you always wince in terror when you walk up stairs in the middle of the night and you lift your foot up to step the last step? After your foot goes down you realize then that you had already stepped the last step, so your foot fell through nothing. Well when I woke up in the hospital, after sleeping through a long car ride home from a restaurant I felt just as surprised.

“Mom, are we home now?” I asked unaware of my surroundings. “Hey! Somebody! She’s waking up!” Did I have any idea whose voice this was? Nope. Call me clueless, but I don’t think I’m in my mom’s car anymore. “Out of my way, out of my way.” This woman sounded like she knew what was actually going on. “Sweetie, can you wake up?” I finally manage to open one of my two eyes. “Very good! Do you feel any pain or aches? Yeah I do… It feels like my leg was chopped open.” I manage to mutter “Where am I?” I ask to the lady in the white coat. “You’re in the hospital,” She says calmly as if nothing was wrong, but I saw in her eyes that something was wrong. “Your mom crashed the car you were in. You were asleep as you crashed through the windshield. You suffered a severe injury to you leg and we were forced to cut it off.”

I couldn’t believe it! What will happen? Will I need crutches or am I going to live my life in a wheelchair? What? Yesterday I was cheering at the state finals. Now my leg is gone. GONE! Even though I was freaking out in my mind I didn’t really feel the need to scream as load as I can in the hospital at 10o clock at night. “How did this happen? I know my mom and she always drives safely, especially when I’m in the car.” This puzzled me because my mom is not the kind of person to crash a car with her 14 year old daughter in the car. “Where is my mom anyways?” I had no idea what the doctor was going to say next, so I waited for an answer. “Maxine,” She hesitated. “Your mom is dead.


You’d think that most kids would start screaming and freaking out, but what I did surprised everybody. I just sat there. I couldn’t process what she said. “She’s dead?”
I thought about a lot of things in those 30 seconds. 1. My mom was only 39, why was her death like this? 2. Who would take care of me? All of my relatives are dead, and I was told that my dad walked out on our family because he’d rather hang out with junkies instead of us. Leaving her to take care of me and provide for me.

“Who is covering this treatment for me?” Me and my mom weren’t rich, but we always had enough for food and bills and everything. My mom also didn’t know that she was going to die in a car crash, unless if she could read the future or something. “Your dad is.” Umm could you repeat that? “Hold on, my dad didn’t want anything to do with me. He ditched my mom when I was 2 to hang out with drug dealers.” My dad was a junkie, or that was what I thought. Then once again that doctor had that look in her eyes. “Maybe you should talk to him face to face.”

After she said that the door opened and a nurse that look slightly hesitant let a man into my room. He paused for a moment at the door, taking in the scene of me sitting in a hospital bed with a confused and shocked look on my face, and then surprisingly walked up to me in a confident stride and looked at me as if he had known me my entire life.



“Maxine, it’s been such a long time since I’ve seen you.” The man, or should I say my dad, wearing a Baby Blue striped long sleeve polo shirt hugged me cautiously. “What are you doing here?’ I demanded. “I thought you left because you wanted those people more than me and mom.” I may not want anything to do with him, but I have to admit, he doesn’t look anything like I imagined him to look like. He was clean-shaven, didn’t smell bad and didn’t look anything like the picture of him that my mom kept in her dresser. Wow, I had missed a lot for the last 12 years. “Where have you been?” Sure he looked fine, but I was still not sure of him. Therefore I had the nurses’ button in my hand, just in case.


“I know that your mother told you a lot about me. She never did like me. Why, I’m surprised we even got married. Right before the ceremony she almost left. Ops, getting off the topic I was talking about.” Gosh, he talks a lot! I can understand why because of the whole I haven’t seen my daughter in 12 years part, but still. “Your mom hasn’t been exactly truthful.” Come on, seriously people. Earning dissing points against someone who is dead- not even able to play, was wrong. Let me spell it W-R-O-N-G! So I put every bit of ice that I could with my next sentence. “Weren’t YOU the person who walked out on my mother when she was 27, leaving HER to take care of ME and support ME while you did drugs on the streets of Manhattan?” God, I can be a real pain in the butt sometimes, but he wasn’t fazed by this one bit. “Maxine, that person was your mom.”

“I don’t even know your name, and you’re lying to me already!” This was just too much to take in- my mom is dead, my dad is back and now he is telling me that my mom was the one who walked out. “Look, I know that this is going to be a lot to take in, but it’s true. She left when you were 2, but came back when you were 4 because she had gotten help, and she was given custody. I left because I didn’t want to be part of her life anymore, which was totally unfair because I left you too.


Did you ever get those cards I sent you for your birthday, or did she hide them from you?” I’m pretty stubborn, but golly this turns things around! I believed him after I thought about it. I saw medical papers in my mom’s office when I was looking for some paper and pens. When I asked her about it she said that those were my dad’s. O gosh. My mom was the one who did those things, and I had just mouthed off to my dad about it accusing him. “I’m really sorry … dad.” I stuttered at the words. That the first time I had ever called anyone dad before.


“Now look at you. I haven’t seen you in 12 years and now you are in the hospital because of your mom. That made me really mad! “Don’t you go blaming my mom she is dead. It’s your fault that you haven’t seen me because you didn’t fight for me and you didn’t want me hard enough to get me.” God, I think that he could be a lawyer- he wasn’t hurt by this at all, he just started up the argument again. “I didn’t try for custody because I didn’t have enough money to support you, barely even myself, so figured why would I want to put you through that.


“You don’t get it at all! For 12 years every time I went over to my friends houses and I saw their dad kiss the top of their head or say I love you when they went to bed, and I always was green with envy because I didn’t have a father to teach to ride a bike or take me fishing . You were gone for that and now I have a man who comes in here telling me the story of my life that I never knew about. I don’t even know your name!” I could go on Oprah! I should really consider an acting career.


“Excuse me,” There was that doctor who sounded like she knew what she was doing. “I need to talk to you Mr. Freeland” Once again she had that look in her eyes. My dad (I still have trouble saying it) walked over to meet my doctor. They may be able to pull of the whole super scary twilight thing, but they can’t pull of the talk quiet thing. “We took some blood tests from Anna (My mom) and it shows that she was intoxicated with alcohol about 5 times over the state limit. She was drunk when she crashed the car.”



Chapter 2


Do hate surprises? Cause I sure do! I mean when I come home on my birthday and all of my family and friends pop up at me yelling surprise I have a heart attack. Like I said, I’m not the person to surprise.

Here we go again. I thought. “What? That’s impossible! Are you sure you did the test right?” Shocked. Stunned. Afraid. Clueless. Pick any 1 of those words to describe me. “Anna was drunk?” Exclaimed my utterly shocked dad. “That’s impossible! She wouldn’t ever drink- especially before driving.” Clearly this was not going well. “Maxine. Do you remember your mom having anything to drink?” The doctor asked. “Yeah, she said that what she was drinking was Mountain Dew, but I have a feeling that that wasn’t it.”
“Probably not.” The doctor shortly replied.



“Well at least we know that.” My dad said after a short moment. “What is going to happen to her property and stuff? He asked. “I don’t know, but we will go over that later. Right now we need to focus on Maxine.” Said the doctor. I don’t get how she can sound so calm like this. “You’re right. She is my main priority right now.” You know what? I might actually start to like him.




“So am I going to live with you, once all this stuff (Gesturing to my leg) is over?”
“Yes you will. I have enough to take care of you me and all of the fun stuff we will do. So there shouldn’t be any reason why not.” Said my dad. “Unless if you don’t want to live with me.” Like that was going to happen! I need to rebuild my relationship with my dad. “Of course I want to live with you!” I exclaimed. “You are my dad, and family always sticks together.”



You could tell he was touched by what I said. Actually, I thought I saw his blue eyes mist over. “So what is the plan for Maxine’s recovery?” My dad asked, more for my sake. “She will stay in the hospital for about a month and a half. That way we can make sure she get’s the proper care while her leg is healing. Then we will begin physical therapy, to help her regain her mobility.” The doctor said rather slowly, almost like she was taking in the treatment plan herself.

A girl named Jess (strawberrysherbert) has died from Skin cancer on June 13th 2009. On her profile it says that before she died she was getting ready for one last operation to try and save her life. She was on breathing monitors and she said that it was a very risky operation and that if she doesn't die from it, her kidney could fail also. Like she said like 2 days before her death she died from a kidney failure. Her best friend in real life and girls life said that she died holding her hand. Please go check out her profile and her best friend's and read the comments that so many people have said to her before and after her death. She was strong and was not afraid of her cancer.

well, i go 2 lyk, the 5th school in the nation and my parents want me 2 go to an Ivy League and become a lawyer... yadda, yadda, yadda...ya get my gist? But my parents are so desperate 2 hav me get straight As, they said if I get straight As on a report even if it's a progress report, they'll get me the iPhone. I'm SO xcited and I really want it. Actually, the earliest time I could get it is early October because that's when the first interim for my school ends. I really just want a phone and then kno that so.. *sighs*.. i hav 2 get straight As.

I love orchestra, too!
advice: you should take some time to experiment with the cello. try something a little different. (cause cello is awesome!)

Ive played cello since 5th grade. (7 years this september!) and I just joined my school's fiddle club, so Ive been learning violin for that...its a blast.
I also play piano (since 5th grade!) and harmonica (since christmas--lol).
