Hey girl! SOOO sorry I posted back to you days ago but it didn't work!!
Anyway, I think the only way to let this guy know how you feel and see if he feels the same way is to be brave and approach him! Whether this be in the hallway, the caf, or class...just be brave and go up to him and say, "hey we haven't talked in a while, how was your summer?" This will be a great way for the two of you to reconnect.
As for high school advice, I would say the best thing you could do to be prepared is go into your first day with a CONFIDENT attitude. I was totally lacking in the area of confidence on my first day of hs and I think that totally didn't help me. Also sticking by a friend and/or going out of your way to be extra outgoing and friendly to people in your classes in hopes of making some new friends right away would be a definite good approach as well.
And no sorry but you can't friend people on this site. I REALLY wish you could!!! I think I've even suggested that...haha. Profiles are sorta how you are friends with people on here, but they are loads of fun trust me!! (:
