its always hard to have friends older or younger than you, for reasons just like this. becoming closer with your 8th grade friends will take time, but going out of your way 2 do things with them, like calling them up to go to the movies, or arranging and movie night, are easy ways to get to kno them and become closer. talking more freely about yourself shows that you want to know them better, so that is always something to do. these people are already your friends, so don't be afraid to be yourself around them.
