Ok first of all I would try talking to this guy. You should totally tell him that you only said no because you were nervous because you probably gave him the total wrong idea. I would say yes the next time he asks you out...but first let's work on making your parents ok with it.

Try acting super responsible and not slaking off with your chores, hw...stuff like that. Do things without waiting to be asked and show them how mature you have become. Also try telling them lot's of great things about this guy and how you promise you will always act responsibly if they let you go out with him. Honestly I think they will be proud of you for not dating this guy behind their back.
