well, i would just start with common instrest's. say to a girl "i really like that top!" or "your hair is really pretty" then mabye talk with her after class a little. common interest's are always a way to start a friendship.

and for the clothes shopping, i'd try forever 21 and nordstrom.

hey girl,
i read your question (about your 1st year of jr. high) on one of the GL articles and thought i might be able to help you out.
how to meet new people-
1.be yourself! my 1st year of jr. high i only knew about 2 people in everyone of my classes, but when everyone settles into the school they all start to "come out of their shell" and meet new people just by being themselves!
2.if you have a friend that isnt shy try to hang out with them and meet the people theyre meetin!
how to be noticed-
1.try playing sports! when you play sports for the school you meet A LOT of new people and A LOT of people hear about you and might start to hang out with you!
2.be outgoing! i am very outgoing and when you get used to the kind of people tht are in your classes just be funny (or try to, but DNT be a class clown! people get really annoyed of those, at least the ppl at my school do.)
what to wear-
1.just like the mod said- just wear what YOU want to wear! people might like your style and start a convo with you by asking "whered you get your shoes?" or something like tht.

I saw the comment on the weight article.... don't worry too much! I'm 5'6" & 137lbs. My friends are in the 80-95lbs. range!!!!! So yeah it is hard but it can also be easy. All I do is like an hour of exercise per day, only have a few desserts each week & eat good healthy smaller amounts & I've been losing weight quickly! Just be careful how you do it all. Anyways just think of yourself better & DON'T! check the scale everyday! Remember that the scale lies because sometimes when your checking yourself you have more food in you than the day before.... so it is best to check in the morning WEEKLY! (sorry this was long!) ~CrazyTong
