Loved the gorgeous, beachy waves in the June/July issue of GL? Now you can get those laidback (but insanely lovely) locks at home. Here’s the how-to.


Start by shampooing and conditioning your hair before you go to bed. Towel- or air-dry your strands until they’re damp, but not totally dry.




Work a small amount of wave-enhancing product from root to tip. Right now, we’re loving David Babaii for Wildaid Bohemian Beach Spray ($10, bathandbodyworks.com). It defines curls, kills frizz and isn’t sticky at all.

Weave your hair into 4-5 braids and secure the ends with elastics. In the a.m., take out the braids to reveal major texture. Need more bounce? Take a curling iron and curl a few sections to enhance your ’do. So easy

Hey girlies im having a humungious contest. if you have a short story or any kinda long story or whatever then post it on here. i will pick a winner on October 26th. each week i will grade any stories i get, they will most likely get a high score...........i want to see how people write stories. fact: ive been writing short stories since 3rd grade and i think they are getting better.

Dear Bella,
It's really great to have a friend like you, and I hate the feeling of being angry. It's such a horrible feeling. And I feel it SO much now with stress crap, Rylie, middle school, how I look, boys, and what's expected of me...... Like now we're suddenly like teenagers. Now everybody is acting like we’re in high school. Now everybody is going to do their hair. Wear a bunch of make-up. Buy clothes from fancy older kid’s stores. Like target and Kohls aren't in the fashion booklet anymore. The affordable places aren't cool. Now every kid is going to think they're rich. Now they will brag about what they have much more. Now kids are going to think bullying is cool. Now there a going to be major cliques. Girls are going to be so cruel. They think they're cool if they cuss a bunch. Drugs will be dealt. Kids will think it's cool. Kids that don't fit in their cookie cutter mold will be trashed. Made fun of, and put to no good use. My cousin (she's going into 8th yet she's only a year older than me) has gone to a private school her whole life but now since she moved
to Georgia she's going to a public school and she met this one girl and she said that the girls wear a lot of makeup and they stuff their bras and they make out in the bathrooms with guys. She also said some guys pinned another guy down in the bathroom and shaved off one of his eyebrows. She'd come from a private school where like the whole population of the school was like 100-150. A lot of the kids hadn't had boyfriends and junk. It makes me just feel ashamed, ashamed of what we've all become of. Pretty much in 8th grade you choose to focus on school, or get into drugs. And I just wish we could go back to our kindergarten rooms. And have story time. There, boys still had cooties, parents picked out their clothes, and it was hard to be a fat kindergartener. You didn't get made fun of, and not much was expected of you. So if you made a mistake nobody would laugh and you could continue and try again. Shouldn't it still be like that now?
Why can't we all be little kindergarteners again? Be protected in our own little bubble. And you, not anybody else, are the person to let someone in your bubble, instead of people bursting it. I know we have to grow up sometime but why so quickly, and so drastically. Can't we slowly progress at our own pace? It's like you're on a treadmill going as fast as you thought you could go. Then somebody turns the knob all the way up, and makes you try so hard and then fall and get hurt. In life we're going to fall and get hurt so much that it's not even fair. We have all the time in the world to be adults, but why can't we still be kids. Truth is, I'm scared, terrified actually. For all of this coming up but that's only half of my thoughts. On the other hand I'm ready to grow up..... Some, but not completely. I'm ready for boys, make-up, doing my hair, wearing some cooler clothes, harder schoolwork, but not everything. Only the right things to
be ready for. I'm not ready to fall down and get hurt but I am ready to get up, get moving and keep trying longer and harder that I thought I was capable of. That's how i feel. What I've been keeping balled up inside of me. Letting no one come into my little bubble. But now i was ready, and so glad that I did.

BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS!!!!!! These two books series I'm going to tell u should only read if you are AT LEAST in 7th grade. That at the earliest actually. becuz they have some laguage and they talk about some inappropiate things younger kids shouldn't know. But overall they r good.

A Time For Dancing, The farther You Run This one mainly just has language not as inapropiate. be prepared to cry reading this book

3 days ago finished Peace, Love, and Baby Ducks!!! I LOVE that book!!!! Small Steps: The year I Got Polio is AMAZING too!!! I like Lauren Myracle I wanna read ttyl and ttfn plus l8r g8r. I just finished the book Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen (yes spelled exactly like that) Right now I'm reading A Time For Dancing by Davida Wills Hurwin.
