So I have a fashion sitch, and although I usually do pretty well on my own, I want another chica's point of view.

OK, so I live in the Northwest, so it's usually pretty cold most of the year. In summer, it's really nice and warm and the temps are perfect, so I have lots of fashion options when I am in my own state. But sometime this month I am flying to southern California with my fam to go to a celebration with my WHOLE extended family (think highclass L.A. and San Fran). Anyway, most of the time my style is feminine, sweet, polished, and many people think attractive. But I don't think that my current style is going to cut it in high-class glamorous L.A., so I need to find ways to glam my style up easily.

Sorry, the main question is: With only $50, how do I glam up my outfits easily? Remember, it's going to be superhot during the day in Cali and I don't want to be burning up. Do you have any "must-haves" for my sitch or know of any good stores I should check out?
