On Sunday I sprained my ankle. I'm going to miss Irish Dance two weeks from now and I missed last week- talk about not getting prepared for my next feis! Have you ever done something like that?

My school's rules are that the teacher tells you when you can get a solo dress. I think that, generally, people have to be in prizewinner and doing quite well, almost onto Prelim, which means placing 1st-3rd in their Slip Jig/Reel (It depends on age, of course), their Hornpipe/Treble Jig (I don't know which), and their Set. One of my friends who goes to my studio is in Prizewinner, and has begun doing quite well, but her mom may not want to buy a solo dress, because outside of feisanna, she needs a school dress, which she just got a new one. I don't think I'll be onto a solo dress for a long time, but who knows? I've started paying attention when I'm practicing @ home. Before, I would practice @ home 1-2 times a week, but just go thru the motions, but I would also think of the steps all day, and so I'd know what to do, just not the timing, and it would feel clumsy to my feet unless I knew it for a while. But now I'm practicing a lot more, paying attention, and I hope I get better soon. How do you practice?

I just got my reel into Novice, and then all my other soft shoe is Beg. 2, and I haven't competed my hard shoe yet, so it's (technically) Beginner 1. I am going to get my school dress in May (order it anyways) and hopefully get it June or July (I'm hoping June, because I'm about to outgrow my jumper, and then I either can't participate in the recital or I'll have to get a new one (that would be $80 wasted)). I am the tallest person in my class, and I think I've gotten my sevens fixed (we do the whip, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, back, 2, 3, back, 2, 3, whip 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, but only in some of the ceili dances that we do). I now have a lot to try for, because I found out that this time two years ago, this one girl in my Irish Dance school was just a little bit above where I am now, and now she's an Open Champ. I hope that I get up that high soon, that would be really cool.

I began competing 2 years ago in Irish Dance.I started in 5th grade, and now I'm in 9th grade and I still wear the beginner jumper that my school has. But I'm really excited, because @ the Emerald City feis, if I try really hard, I may get into novice! (but then I'll be kinda screwed as my jumper is getting kinda short and the dress'll be a lot, plus no one else in my class even has competed for a year, so I'll be alone in what I'm wearing during the recital) Then, my Irish Dance teacher may have us do Queen of the Faeries as our dance as we're a combined class of people who don't care and goof off (and therefore have a black skirt and a shirt) and people who do really care and try very hard (like me and maybe 5 other girls). Oh- and our version of queen of the Faeries is so awesome- look up SRS Queen of the Faeries on YouTube. It's a different studio from mine, but there are some advanced dancers (like the Queen) that I know. And it's so pretty! I just can't figure out what the hardshoe is. Is it a treble reel. I haven't learned the treble reel yet, but I do know two hornpipe steps and 6 treble jig steps, along with 5 reel, 5 light jig, 3 single jig and 2 1/2 slip jig (half step for grades). I know two St. Patrick's day steps, Walls of Limerick, Bonfire Dance, part of the three hand reel and most of the 6 hand reel, and the 4 hand reel. If you look up SRS Summer Recital 2010, you see me epically fail to count the music, and how awkwardly I do my 7s. What steps do you know? Would you have any tips for making my sevens look better? I practice them, but sometimes my teacher says that they look worse because I don't practice them right.

Hey girl! Wow, you are caught in a bit of trouble! Well, you should really follow with your heart. If you think Kevin is your perfect guy, you should definately stay with him. But, if you really and truly love jake, go with him. If you really are willing to break up with your boyfriend, for another guy, you have to watch the risks. Are you positive that Jake really wants to go out with you? Is it worth the risk of losing both guys, the friendships? Think about these questions first, then make up your mind. Now, we're onto breaking up with Kevin. It's never easy breaking up with someone, but if you feel your heart needs to, then go for it. Make sure you don't hurt his feelings or even embarrass him. Try, sitting him down, alone, you and him. Simply, try saying 'I don't have the feelings I had for you when we first started going out, I think we should just stay friends' or 'I love spending time with you, but I really don't think we have a strong connection, can we just stay friends?' OMG congrats! thats awesome! yeah i just danced in the Celtic Fling in Pennsylvania on Saturday, and i placed first in advanced beginner hornpipe, second in the two hand, and third in the novice reel! so i'm now all novice except for the treble reel. i have to have two firsts in novice to get my solo dress. will you be dancing in the Nations Capitol Feis?
