Please help!
I am really insecure about my body. I'm 12, I'm about 5 ft. and 1", and I already weigh ..... lbs! Is this overweight! I feel so fat compared to my friends, who are in the 70-80 lbs range. Whenever I'm around my friends I feel like I stick out because I'm so much bigger than the. I don't want to try too hard to loose weight since I'm still growing into my body and everything, but at the same time I think I need to loose at least 10-15 lbs. Do you have any ideas for improving my body image and my confidence? Thanks, please answer ASAP!

I don't want to step into this advice babe's territory, but I just want to remind you please don't post your height/weight combo or even just your weight on GL.com. We all have our own body insecurities, and posting weights just allows other girls to compare themselves. It's def not healthy! Remember the keys to being healthy - well-balanced diet and NO skipping meals, paired with moderate exercise every day. Don't forget to get enough sleep and to dress your bod depending on its shape so you feel the most confident. Love ya <3

Meanwhile, Savannah was hopping into Mrs. Clark’s Mercedes. They listened to Nicole’s iPod the whole way to Johnson’s Mall.
They got out after a 10 minute ride and faced the giant mall that stood in front of them. It had 3 floors of shopping area.
Mrs. Clark told them that she’d be back to pick them up in 2 hours at the south entrance. Nicole and Savannah agreed and then took off into the mall.
They shopped for the whole time and only bought the expensive clothes.
Mrs. Clark came to get the at the exact time and Nicole asked Savannah to sleepover at Nicole’s house. Savannah said yes and they went back to her house and stayed up the rest of the night.

Ashton had run home and took a breather at the counter where her brother, Preston, was sitting. Preston was a high school senior and was planning on being in the army now that high school was over. Everyone in the family thought he was just trying to be like all the other boys his age; he’d never join the army.
“Just run a marathon?” he asked.
“No…I just ran from Alex’s house!” she said.
“That’s not that far!” he said laughing. “Only like 6 houses down from here!”
Ash caught her breath and sat down on a stool. “Oh. Be quiet,” she said.
Preston sat down and put his arm around his little sister.
“Still planning on being in the army?” she asked him.
“Yeah, duh. In fact, I just enlisted!” he said happily.
Ashton lost her breath. “Wh-why would you do that?!” she asked in disbelief. No way was she letting her brother leave her. She loved her brother with all her heart. She stood up in front of her brother.
“What’s wrong with it?”
“You’re supposed to be here! With me. With us. You’re a terrible brother!” she exclaimed holding back the tears in her eyes.
“I-I thought you’d be proud!” he said standing up and trying to hug Ashton. Ashton backed away and ran down to the basement—which was her bedroom.
She crawled onto her bed and cried. She didn’t want her brother to leave her.
Ten minutes later, she felt an arm pull her hand up. Preston was standing beside her bed.
“Don’t leave,” whispered Ashton.
“I’m sorry…but I’m going to do this,” he said. Ashton saw the tears brimming in his eyes.
She reached over and squeezed her brother. “I am proud. If something were to happen, I-,”
“NOTHING—and I mean NOTHING will happen to me! I’ve got God and people at home praying for me. I’ll be fine!” he said.
Ashton wiped the tears from her eyes.
Her brother confirmed that he’d be leaving in 3 weeks for training in Oklahoma.

Emma had run home and seen her Mom; stepdad; 12 year old brother, Layton and twin sister, Tatiana sitting at the table. They all looked serious.
“What’s wrong?” asked Emma.
Layton and Tatiana pointed in the direction of the kitchen.
A man with black hair, blue eyes and a beard was looking at them.
“Hello, Emma. I’m Jonathon, your—um—father,” the man said.
Emma had been raised by her mother and stepdad, Joe. No father ever came into the picture. Whenever Emma brought up whatever happened to her father, her mother snapped at her to stop talking about “such a topic”. After awhile, Emma stopped asking. She stopped caring and decided that if her father was alive, he was such a bad person that he didn’t even care about 3 children that he’d given birth to.
Emma lost her breath. “Why are you here?”
“He was just leaving!” said Emma’s mom.
“I needed to see you three!” he said.
Mom started to push him toward the door, but he stopped.
“Let me explain,” said Jonathon.
He ended up saying that they were his kids, too and he needed them in his life. Emma’s mom had fought and tried to get him to leave by threatening to call the police. But he knew that she would never do that.
Mom had told him that she’d arrange for them to see him sometime. Then he left.
“Yeah. Like I’m going to visit that man! No way!” said Emma flopping down onto a stool. Layton and Tatiana agreed. Mom sighed with relief. Everyone knew that she didn’t want them going to see him. Joe just stood on the sidelines, not talking.

Ashton said goodbye to her dear brother, Emma had ignored her father’s constant calls, Alex was forced to learn French and move to Paris, and Savannah moved into Nicole’s house—after A LOT of begging—when her parents went on a business trip that would last for 2 years…That all happened in one summer: The summer a friendship fell apart.
Ashton’s family had moved from the current house to new house out of the town that Ashton and Preston had grown up in.

~Prologue~ They were all 7th graders going on 8th at Seagrove Middle in Wilson, Maine. Savannah Bell, Alex Powell, Emma Price and Ashton Brooks all sat around Alex’s bedroom in a circle. It was the last day of grade 7 and they wanted to spend it at Alex’s house.

Ashton started talking about how her sister keeps saying that everyone changes once you hit high school. Emma made them all promise that they’d stay close in high school and not change—even though it was a year away.
All of the sudden, Savvy’s (Savannah’s) phone went off. She jumps up and pulls the Droid out of her pocket.
“Oh, Nicole, what’s up…Oh. Yeah I’ll go to the mall with you!” said Savvy into her phone. “Gotta go girlies! See ya later!” she said grabbing her bag and hugging everyone.
That was the start of it. That left Ash, Alex and Emma in Alex’s pink and purple-painted bedroom. They heard the front door slam as Savvy left. They watched through the window as she ran home.
The phone in the kitchen rang and Alex came back into the room saying that her mom was going to be home and she didn't know that Alex had had friends over.
The other girls sped home. they all lived on the same street. Alex went to the garage and went upstairs to the loft. The loft was a floor above her garage that was pretty much a second home for Alex and her friends.
She flopped down onto the old couch and opened up her celebrity magazines.
She heard her mom come in and call to her just as she finished her magazine.
Her brother, Jesse, came in behind her. Jesse was a junior in high school and hadn’t gotten his license yet, so their mom had to come and pick him up all the time. Mr. Powell drove up in his Ford Truck and hopped out.
“OK, now that we are all here, I have something amazing to tell you!” she started. “I’ve been transferred to Paris for work!” she said smiling.
Alex lost her breath. “WHAT?!” she finally yelled…it wasn’t even a question.
Jesse’s face reddened with anger.
“YOU CAN’T DO THIS TO US!” they both yelled.
“I’m sorry if you don’t want to, but this is an amazing thing for all of us…And we’re coming back in 7 months!” she said sugar coding it with a smile.
Alex stomped back up to the loft and Jesse ran upstairs to his bedroom.
Alex felt tears brimming in her eyes. She didn’t want to cry...but she did.

Sorry, i didn't get your post about being idea Advisor 'til now!
Now I'm writing a novel based on 4 girls who have been best friends since they were toddlers. But one summer breaks apart the friendship and they all forget about each other.
Then the next summer they all reunite and try to reconcile the friendship.
I'll write part of the prologue on your profile. It REALLY long, so that's why I'm only writing parts of it.

Hey, writer!
There is a new club called Story Writing! WE basically write stories as a group!
Go to the club and scroll down to the 3RD post and that's the application for the character that you want to add to the story!
There are only 6 parts to the story...so only 6 girls can post!

If you want to know the plot for the story we're working on now, here it is:

6 girls have been best friends since they were toddlers...but now they are juniors in high school and aren't getting along like they used to. They are getting ready to spend THE FIRST summer apart and they don't know if the friendship will survive 2 1/2 months not having each other.

fungirl123: Writers block really stinks. Go for a walk, let your mind wander, dont think too too hard or you'll get frustrated. Be proud of what writing you've done so far. And think about the ending of the book, what do you want to happen? Slowing lead up to that, or throw something totally wild in there, maybe Charity's life even worse, or better/ Like falling in love with the neighbor as she eats her breakfast that morning, or make her best friend move towns. Whatever you think. Try something thats original or something that has happened in your life. Take the character out of the house, to school, a park, or hanging with a friend. Let it come to you. mkroberts96: hii i remember you ;) thanks, im glad my advice worked! Wow, well boys are really confusing! Sounds like your starting to fall a little bit more for D, afterall you care about what he has to say right? And G, that sucks you havent talked in awhile. Maybe D is really concerned and just want you to be happy with G, so hes explaining and warning you that feelings may have changed (maybe he even talked to G and felt this way.) Or maybe D is a bit jealous, and realized what a great girl you are and maybe wants you back, so hes making it seem as if he can be a better boyfriend, or that G isnt the best boyfriend for you. ? Who knows, these mixed signals may be just him trying to connect with you better, or maybe he wants to be with you. Dont faall for that, even though G may not be hanging around with you a lot, it doesnt mean that you can do anything youll regret with D. If you feel as if G isnt for you, break up with him. But dont just break up with him because you want to be with D, think about your relationship with the two of them. Try to talk more with G when you get backto school, to see if things are working out, but dont shove D away either. He deserves your attention, but he doesnt deserve you if hes making you feel like your doubting your relationship with G. Sorry for the short confusing advice, thats really all i got. Hey, I'm having a serious case of writers block.
I need help on what to put next in my story.
Here is the plot line.

Plot: A girl named Charity - she is 14 - has a twin brother named Nash that dies after being hit by car while walking home. Charity's family and WHOLE life starts to fall apart after his death.

Here is what last happened in my story:

“NASH, don’t leave me!”
The whole world started to shake.
“Charity, wake up!”
I open my eyes and my dad is standing above me.
“Relax, it was just a nightmare!” he said.
“OK, I’m fine…” I say.
Dad leaves.
I look at my clock. It reads “4:55 a.m. July 18th”.
I lay my head back down onto the pillow. My brother died yesterday. I sigh. I dig my hands under the covers.
Lay on my right side…NO! Lay on my left side…No! I kept moving around in my bed until I realized that I’m wide awake. I got up.
I walked to my door and pulled it open quietly. I walked to the kitchen and turned on the light.
I opened the refrigerator

hey hey i know ive gotten advice from you before and it really helped so i was wondering if you could help me out again. sorry this is reallyyy long
i really liked my bgf, D, for most of this past year and for the past 2 years but i sorta liked him on and off. he always acted like he liked me and others thought so too but he said he just liked me as a close friend and went out with another girl. we r still rlly close but hadnt talked much this summer
so towards the end of this year i started going out with this guy, G, who has liked me for a while. we had a really good relationship going but then when summer started, we were never home at the same time and couldnt text much so we havnt seen each other/talkd much in like 2 months.
D chatted me the other day on facebook and we started talking about G. to make a long convo short, he said that i had ot be careful bcuz when i see G again in 2 weeks for the first time things might not be the same and our same feelings might not be there. i shared the convo with my bff and she said it sounded like he wanted us to break up. he also said it was too bad that G and i hadnt just taken a summer apart bcuz we could have hooked up (he and his gf recently broke up) and said that maybe once G and i break up we could and i told him sure. D and i have been texting for the past few days since then and hes being really flirty with me and everything and we made plans to maybe hang out today.
idk what to do bcuz im 1. worried things wont be the same with G 2. worried that im falling for D again, which i think never really stopped, and that i could do something i regret 3. confused about the signals D is sending me. any idea as to whats goin on/?? thatnks so muchhhh

i like my old bgf we were even closer than that were were bffls even though im a girl n hes a guy

Well i sorta like him but i dunno if he likes me ill tell you what he does that i think he likes me back.so you can tell me if i should maybe flirt with him or something.1) you answered about my other crush who said no but i told the guy i used to be bffls with about that n he said i can tell him anything( this was after we stopped hanging out ( we were bffls a year ago)

2) He just randomly starts talking to me for no reason,he tries to find reasons sometimes.

3) when we were parterning up in class we got told by the teacher we have to work with someone that doesnt sit at our table. He picked me.

4) I asked him to help me by drawing something on the computer for me... He did it, without me giving reasons ( even though i did)

5) If he draws something he will show me, for no reason even though im not bothered and today he asked me if i liked it, like he wasnted my approval

thats the main stuff really

and if you think he likes me or i should find out how do i flirt or whatever... im shy and stupid with guys n im shy in genaral

Hey darling. Sounds like one of the symptoms for teenage heart trouble. If you notice you have any of these symptoms of as well...

Shortness of breath

Persistent coughing or wheezing

Lack of appetite and nausea

Fatigue

Chest pain

Fainting

...then I would suggest asking your parents if they can set you up with an appointment to your doctor.

It's a bit annoying whenever I click on a different page, article or refresh GL website, a justin bieber mag thing pops up. Do you have the power to change this annoying pop up? its slowing down my computer/ thanks ! and what is it when ur heart spasms randomly?tHANKS

Hey girl, unfortunately, mods don't have that power but you do: all you need to do is hit the "x" at the corner of the ad to get it to go away. As for the heart spasms, I'm not sure what you're referring to, but I think it just depends on the signature of the mod who's online. More may be using hearts.

is ur friend trustworthy? maybe shes jealous and id lying or maybe R was pressured into saying that becausse he was embarassed. u werent there, u can try to confront him but that might make things worse. trust ur instincts, it sounds like he doesnt hate u so go with that. !
