Hey! If you want to make conversations with your boyfriend easier, it's best to think of some things you have in common. Before you see him, have some conversation points ready in your head. I know it sounds kind of weird, but it will definitely help prevent awkward silences and keep the conversation going. Also, try to talk half the time and listen the other half. If he's being really quiet, it can make for an awkward conversation, so ask him questions if he doesn't talk on his own. Or if you find yourself not talking as much, find a good point to interject and say something about the topic you're discussing. The more you talk to him, the easier it will get. Good luck! And if you have any more questions, feel free to ask me! <3 Shannon

Hey! I used to have the same exact problem. The way I got over it was to slowly get myself out of the habit of using it. First, I switched to only using a nightlight once a week instead of a real light. Then I started sleeping with just the nightlight and with no light at all once a week. Eventually, I got to the point where I didn't need any light at all. I also suggest talking to someone about your fear. Sometimes when you talk about things, it seems a lot less scary. But also, there's no need to switch to complete darkness. If you're more comfortable using a nightlight, there's no need not to do that. However, you should try to stop sleeping in a completely light room. For one, you can't sleep as well when it's light in your room. Also, it wastes electricity and costs more money for your parents on your electric bill. Good luck! And I'm always here if you need any more advice! <3 Shannon

Hey! I would suggest that since she's your cousin, you try talking to your mom about it. The chances that she will listen to you don't seem very good to me. Tell your mom about her behavior, and ask her if she can talk with your aunt or uncle about it. Or you could go straight to your aunt or uncle. Don't be mean or anything, but just say that your cousin is being rude to you and you don't know how to handle it. Your family will probably help you out. Good luck! If you have any more questions, I'm always here! <3 Shannon

Hey! It sounds to me like it's just leftover blood from your period. That can be brown with blood mixed in. If you're really worried about it or this is accompanied by pain of any kind, talk to your doctor. Good luck! If you have any more questions, I'm always here! <3 Shannon

Hey Livver! Sorry I'm answering your questions so late- school, ya know. So here's your questions: 1)hey, for some reason, i have been having horrible breakouts!!! what would you reccomend for it?? 2) and how can i tell my boyfriend to stop being mean to him, i told a teacher, but he hasn't changed. 3)AND 1 more if you don't mind! my legs are a deep purple. i use lotion, and my WHOLE entire leg is purple! my arms are perfectly white, so IDK whats going on, and im scared!! HELP!! And here's your answers!: 1)relax girlie- breakouts are totally normal! It just means that you're maturing. You can always find lotion and cream that help reduce these breakouts at the pharmacy, or you can keep clean at home by using lotion frequently, or massaging your face (it works). 2)If your bf is being mean to you or someone else, and he won't listen, try this. Remember, you're his gf so he cares about you and your opinions. Talk to him about what you don't like, and how he can improve. If telling the teacher didn't stop him, and if you can't either, then you might want to consider if he's the best guy to be around. 3)First thing- calm down. It could be just a normal swelling, or bruise. If it is, it should probably dissapear in a few days. if it stays, you might want to get it checked by your doctor, and tell your parents. Thanks for coming to me for advice! Hope everything goes well for ya! -dogloverjc222 ps thx for joing my club! i will post more often
dogloverjc222 on 4/27/2011 9:27:24 PM
Hey! This is the kind of thing that requires help. Cutting is almost like an addiction for a lot of people. You need help from someone who is trained and qualified to help you. I know you might not want to, but you really have to tell your parents, and you have to do it now. Cutting is a serious problem, and if you're doing it, you need to get help! Just think, if your best friend told you she was cutting, you would want her to tell someone, right? So that's exactly what you need to do for yourself! Yes, it's hard, but you need to take care of yourself! Good luck! If you have any more questions, I'm always here! <3 Shannon
supersingershannon on 4/26/2011 7:59:19 PM
Hey! It's totally fine about all the questions, I promise! Well, about this guy that won't stop bothering you, have you tried ignoring him? Sometimes if a guy is bothering you and you just ignore him, he stops. I had a group of guys who constantly bothered me when I was in 8th grade, and I would always tell them to leave me alone and it never worked. But once I started to just ignore them and keep doing what I was doing, they stopped. If that doesn't work, though, you may want to talk to a teacher if it's bothering you too much. As for your friend, the best thing for you to do is to tell her nicely. Just say something like, "Hey, I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but I've been noticing that you smell a little bit. I'm only telling you this because you're my friend and I care about you. I don't want other people to judge you or make fun of you because of this, so I just thought you should know." Tell her that maybe if she's not wearing any deodorant, she should start wearing some. Or if she already is, suggest that she maybe switch to a different brand. If there are any kinds that you like, tell her about them. And remember, this is a sensitive issue so be sure to be kind and gentle! You definitely would be doing her a huge favor by telling her nicely. Good luck! If you have any more questions, I'm always here! <3 Shannon

hey i saw your question and you could wear powder cover up or concealer.
ALR on 4/18/2011 5:50:49 PM
Hey! Well, you can always use dab concealer on it. But there are also a couple of other things you can try. First, applying heat can help reduce the redness. You can soak a washcloth in warm water and hold it on your acne. Just make sure it's not scalding hot. Also, applying something that will help dry it out, such as benzoyl peroxide, helps to reduce swelling and redness. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask! <3 Shannon
supersingershannon on 4/18/2011 11:16:53 AM
Aww, thanks! And it's no problem! That's what I'm here for! I have the same problem, and there are two main shampoos that I use that really work for me. I buy Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo and Pantene Pro-V Classic Care Shampoo, depending on what the store has. Both work really well, though. The Suave one is cheaper, though, so if that's a concern, you may want to try that. If you have any more questions, you can always ask me! <3 Shannon
supersingershannon on 4/15/2011 5:56:02 PM
Hey! If your boyfriend is abusing you, you need to break up with him and tell your parents or someone else can help you. I can't give you too much advice other than that, because you really need an adult to intervene here. I'm really really sorry about this. Good luck, and stay strong! If you have any more questions, you can always ask me. <3 Shannon
supersingershannon on 4/14/2011 7:12:00 PM
Hey! Well, for your breakouts, I suggest using Clean and Clear products. They work really well, and they have a lot of different products. As for your boyfriend, I'm not quite sure what the situation is. If you would give me some additional information, that would help a lot. And for your legs, I think you should see your doctor. It's never a good idea to try to self-diagnose something like that. Good luck! And if you have any more questions, feel free to ask! <3 Shannon
supersingershannon on 4/12/2011 9:17:49 PM
Hey Girl! As for breakouts - your prob. just going throught the dreaded PUBERTY. Our oil glands tend to over work and make our skin oily. As for trying to fix it, buy a nice skin cleanser - whatever you feel is best for you. As for your boyfriend - What do you mean by "him" in any situation if he's being mean to someone and not changing his ways and it bothers you - which it should - tell him if he doesn't change his ways you'll leave him - if he still doesn't change he not the one for you. As for your purple legs - talk to a trusted adult IMMEDIATLY! They can get you a doctors appointment - you need to talk to an MD. Hope I was of assistance and it all works out. Tell me how it goes. I hope you return to me for your future questions! -Delaney a.k.a. DrummerChick513

hey!!! sorry this took me so long! you posted some questions on my wall... 1. as for cheerleading, just show your mom you REALLY love doing it, at first drop little hints like practicing cheers in the living room or admiring cheer stuff/magazines at a store. and make sure to butter ur mom up a little (don't be fake, of course), just do extra chores and obey ur mom's rules. then drop the bomb when ur mom's in a good mood...be like, "mom...i've discovered a new hobby, cheerleading, and i'd like your support to help me start it." as for the underwear, just go right out and bring them up to ur mom the next time ur clothes shopping somewhere. ask nicely if you can try them. as for your "big ears"....there's obvi no way you can make them smaller...just embrace them!!! soooooo many people have big ears, including celebrities, and they're all self-conscious about them at least a little, so join the club. if it makes you feel better, when u wear ur hair up loosen some hair tendrils so that they fall in front of ur ears and help hide them a little. smiles !!!!! hope this helps!!!!

Hey! If you want to burn fat, old-school exercises tend to be the best. Think about things you would do in gym. Running, jumping jacks, sit ups, push ups. Swimming is also a great way to tone up, so if you have access to a pool, swim some laps. As for where to find a cheap face mask, I would try CVS. They have some good facial products that are pretty cheap. Good luck! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask me! <3 Shannon

Hey! Well, as far as how to get abs, some things that are great for that are sit-ups, yoga, pilates, running, and any type of exercise that engages your core. Probably one of the best things to do is look up floor exercises designed specifically for tightening your abs. GL has some great ones, both in the magazine and on the website. Now about your boyfriend, you have a few options. You could either put up with him, which I definitely don't suggest, you could try talking to him again, but that doesn't seem to work, or you could break up with him. Honestly, girl, I would consider breaking up with him. I'm not trying to run your life or tell you what to do, but there are a few things that I see wrong with your relationship. One is he obviously has a wandering eye. While we can't expect guys to immediately stop having thoughts about any other girl when we start dating them, almost having sex with another girl is quite another story. That alone sounds like a deal breaker to me. Also, he's obviously unwilling to admit when he's wrong, which spells trouble. That's not a foundation for a healthy relationship. But what seems even worse to me is that he appears to have no respect whatsoever for you, your feelings, and your relationship. When you tell him that you're angry with him, he just laughs, even though he did something seriously wrong. That should tell you something about him. He's clearly not very invested in your relationship. Now, obviously this is your decision to make. And I'm not trying to judge him by this one incident, although I think it speaks volumes about his character. But if you want my advice, I would say break up with him, even if you just take a temporary break to re-evaluate your relationship. Good luck! And if you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

Hi, for a face wash, i suggest a product specifically for acne. Clinique's acne solutions and neutrogena are very good. Try one of those. If you have serious acne, i would got to a dermatologist.
Juli23 on 3/16/2011 4:09:48 PM
Hey! Well, for your forehead, I suggest using an acne treatment such as an exfoliator or spot treatment. I use Clean & Clear 3-in-1 Foaming Acne Wash as a face wash. It works really well. It costs $8.49 a bottle. I use Neutrogena Skin Clearing Mineral Powder. It costs $11.99 per jar. Running, squats, push ups, jumping jacks, yoga, and pilates are great ways to tone your butt and legs. You can also look up specific exercises. GL has a lot of good ones in both the magazine and on the website. Good luck! And if you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask! <3 Shannon

I don't remember if it was you who asked on the one girls profile but it might be. If you want to be a cheerleader just say, "Mom do you think it would be okay if I tried out for cheer?" If you really want this say "It would be really important to me." Plus if your in high school it looks really good on a collage app. if you're not, its just fun. I do cheer and it was a lot of fun. It is a lot of money and hard work but I feel that it's worth it. as for the other thing you asked you could say "Mom, I'm growing up now and I think it would be great if you would allow me to get these. I feel like I'm mature enough to handle it." It would help to do an extra chore without being asked.
cheerio4life on 2/27/2011 2:13:20 PM
I would tell her that you think they would be more conformable and you that you would really want to have some.

Hey! To hit a higher note, you have to increase your breath support by a lot and open your mouth really wide so that you're not closing your throat. It takes practice to hit a really high note, though, so don't be surprised if you can't hit it the first time around. As for the face washes, I like Clean & Clear and Neutrogena. They both work pretty well. There are several ways to get wavy hair. First, there are sprays you can buy that will give you loose waves. Also, you can braid your hair over night and in the morning, you'll get nice waves. Or you can use a curling iron, but that often makes your hair curly more than just loose waves. Good luck! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask me. <3 Shannon

Hey! Well, first of all, you can take a few steps to prevent getting more stains. Avoid drinking colas and other dark sodas and coffee. If you do drink one of those things, drink it through a straw. Also, brush your teeth after every meal. As for whitening your teeth, you can buy whitening strips or gels, but they can be kind of expensive. If you don't want to spend the money, they also have whitening toothpastes, mouth washes, and gums. They don't work as well, but they still work, and they're cheaper. Good luck! If you have any more questions, you can always ask me! <3 Shannon

Hey! Running, push-ups, sit ups, lunges, yoga, and pilates are all great ways to get toned. There isn't really one way to ensure that your butt will get more toned. You just have to exercise your whole body. Good luck! If you have any more questions, I'm here! <3 Shannon

Ok well this is one tip I use to make my butt look smaller for school: try wearing black or pants exp: black jeffings or skinny jeans, black yoga pants ( plus u can roll them up to make capris) or Capri length black leggings with a flowy skirt Hope it helps feel free to ask for more if this doesn't work

Hey Livver! I'm here to answer your question! First things first- I found my avatar on Google Images. They have everything next, have you tried looking at the fitness section in Girls Life? It has great tips for great bodies. YOu want to try the simple exercizes, not thoes high tech fancy machines that don't work. Even 2 curlups a day can help if you do it for about 4 weeks! HOpe that helped!
