Yeah, same here whenever I miss (which isn't really that much).
Well, we took him to an indoor this weekend (I don't have one, which is awful!) and he isn't any better (he was on bute). I am not sure we are going to do prolotherapy, maybe light therapy, or maybe just pray for a miracle. We just can't justify treating his back when a university told us he might have other problems (long story).
But we're almost sure its his back. I've only been cantering for 2 years because I've never had a canter horse (pony is physically unable to, mom's horse is a brat LOL) so obviously my seat isn't as independent as my mom's, who has been riding since she was 3. Whenever I ride, he gets more unhappy at the canter (more bucky, ears plastered, tail winding, etc). Soo, it would make sense for it to be his back.
That's so cool you get to go to Florida! That's my dream! Actually I'd be happy with where I live if I had a heated indoor. It gets REALLY cold here. We would just ride in our outdoor (I love riding in the snow, you can practice making round circles so easily LOL) but usually there's ice under the snow. I miss riding! Grr...

I love Christmas, but my favorite time of the year is actually summer, because that's when I get to show! Just as a randmom question, are you homeschooled? It seems like you're always going to shows and obviously you would have to take off school for that. People think it's ridiculous when I missed just a week last year for Nationals! But, as my mom says, there's more to an education that just a classroom. Horses teach you lessons you couldn't learn at school. Besides, I have a 3.95 GPA, and I ask for homework ahead of time if I know I'm leaving.

Oooh, horse shopping in Holland! That sounds like so much fun! I'd love to go to Poland, there are some really great Arab farms their...or Egypt, that'd be cool. Brazil! And France! I've never been out of the country (ridiculous, right? Not even to Canada!) but I'd love to do some world traveling when I'm older and get rich, SOMEHOW. I HAVE to get rich, I have an expensive hobby! LOL
Yeah, it sucks. There's a possibility we might do prolotherapy, do you know what that is? Its not done on horses very often.
Happy Thanksgiving! Got any plans? I'm just going to my aunt's like I do EVERY year! I can't wait for Christmas, though it won't compare with last years. I actually got KC as my Christmas present! I was told we were leasing him. On Christmas day I opened a box with a halter with his name on it. My mom's like "do you know what this means?" I said "No." "We bought him for you!" I freaked out and didn't believe her. *sigh* Although look how THAT's turned out...

Unfortunately KC has a couple of issues-he got some shoeing corrections and will be on bute and rest for a month, then we're to try and ride him again. But I don't think it will work; personally I still think its his back, but what can you do, a university is telling you there's no lameness. Injections are a possibility, but right now nothing's certain...

Thanks for the kind words. He's going to a university on Wednesday and I'm praying they'll find something easy and affordable to treat, if not, we'll have to either sell him or give him away, I need a show horse and we can't afford right now to keep him and get something else.
Is finals over yet? If so how did it go?

my ponys great, thanks for asking... well today when i got her from the feild she had gotn a cut. i dont know how she got the cut but shes a crazy pony so that didnt surprize me. i have a show this saturady that im pretty siked about. like half of my friends from the barn are going and competeing..... its a "fun games" show its not normal classes like cross country,show jumping and dressage it has classes like pole! bending, broomstick polo, egg and spoon race ect. we auta have a good laugh and a good time!
Geeeeeez it sounds like you have a very busy shedule.... sounds like mine actually! do you take lessons??? haha i do i have one main trainer and another trainer for jumping.... there both great! funny story actually today after my lesson i decided i would cool out my horse bare back..... not a good idea witha sweaty pony haha really nasty to sit on a sweaty horse... o well!!!! ttyl!

Hey, sorry it took me so long.
Well good luck at finals. My season was over a LONG time ago. So sad KC is NOT DOING WELL at all; we're going to either try light therapy or prolotherapy. I don't having anything else to ride except for my walk/trot pony, and 2 gaits can get soo boring. I've been doing walk/trot for 6 years now, and I'm DONE with it.
Arabian Horse Nationals is going on right now, wish I was there. If you're bored you can watch it online: go to seehorsevideo dot com and click on the Live Streaming US Nationals thingymabob. Its pretty fun to watch; at the bottom of the page you can pick what arena to watch.
Wish I was busy riding. Now my other extracurriculars are in full swing. Yearbook, the play, choir and National Jr. Honor Society are keeping me busy. But the horses are my real passion. I rode over the weekend but everytime I do hes bucky at the canter and it is NO FUN for anybody; sometimes hes even unhappy at the trot. So everytime I ride I just get depressed...

Ayy,
No, we don't breed, we just love horses. A couple of them are a little older and slowing down so we got younger ones to take their place. The older more seasoned two we use for giving lessons to younger kids, the ones that are younger than 3 are going to be barrel prospects, and then my mom and I have our barrel show horses.

WOW, big congratulations!
I just got back from the WEG!!!! It was AMAZING! I saw the dressage part of eventing. It was kind of like the Olympic village when you see it on TV. The park had soo many vendors you couldn't even recognize it! There were a TON of temporary buildings. I tried out like 3 saddles, LOL, super fun. Wanted to meet Jane Savoie but she wasn't there, saw a Clinton Anderson clinic (hate that guy but hes kinda hot ;)) "test rode" a Quarter horse, she was really smooth at the canter but for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to get that horse to trot, didn't respond to any of the typical cues. Talked to some show jumper from Israel, super nice, no accent. Watched people warming up, was the BEST part, grandparents got to see the Grand Prix finals and watched the winner have the ride of a lifetime, getting 10s for his riding while I was still in school, so bummed. Park was beautiful, they really outdid themselves.

Bareback riding is the best, except for my horse (KC) is like an excersise ball: he's REALLY round! He's not fat, but his belly is big. It pratically hits me in the face when I get on him, LOL. Its just how hes built.
That would suck, you've got all these shows at the KHP and you live on the East Coast! On the contrary, most of ours are in like Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma.
Soo what are you doing this weekend? I have a little open show, should be fun. I have friends who have Arab hunters and they do all the jumping stuff on the local level, and they'll be at this show, so thats always fun. The judge is an Arab person, so I won't get beat by some peanut-roller Quarter Horse, LOL. That is such a problem on 4H/open circuit: Arabs are very discriminated against. The judges just don't know what the heck they are looking at it. Its pretty hilarious because the successful Arabian hunter looks almost like a saddle seat horse: high knee action and high headsets. So last Saturday I'm in this class at this Quarter Horse show and they've all got their heads dragging the ground, and here I come trotting in on my fancy schmancy Arabian, his REAL tail flowing behind him, big action, and he's HOT in this new ring: it took a ton of upper arm strength to hold him back! Believe it or not, I got a 4th out of 11. Pretty incredible the judge even LOOKED at us, but hey, he's got 4 whites so we're hard to miss ;) Then at the Arabian shows you run into politics: Judge A sold Judge B a horse, Judge B showing under Judge A with the horse he bought from Judge A, wonder whos going to win? So you're a jumper and your stuff is based on time right? Or maybe your a hunter; aren't they actually judged to a standard? Not sure if I've got this: like I've said before, I prefer the horse stay on the ground while I'm riding, not that it always works out that way ;)

Yeah the new facility kicks some serious butt. I just hope they've learned how to manage the footing better and keep it the right moisture level/ temp since we were there: our horse slid multiple times! But that was about this time last year, so I'm sure they've got it figured out.
Did you ever lean down and pick up the footing while you were there? Its pretty neat to look at LOL. Its SUCH a pretty color too! I LOVE the KHP, such a pretty place. Its relatively close for us too.
So how long have you been riding? I've had horses my whole life, grew up with them. From what you've said sounds like you have your own place too. I would HATE boarding: I love seeing my boy out there.
Random comment, have you ever tried brideless? I'm doing it on my pony and its soo fun and rewarding: it really builds your relationship with the horse, to sit there without anything on them and have them listen to you.

Wow that pretty amazing, I admire your bravery I am too much of a wimp to jump high, LOL Anyway I find to me that the collection and stuff that it takes in the flat classes is enough for me. Its just such a great feeling, when you're cantering and its like a rocking horse.
So, lets talk World Equestrian Games. I wish I was going to watch! Are you?? I'll be following it all on TV, I can tell you that We would go because the KHP is relatively close to us, I mean its not in Europe or anything, but the tickets were outrageous! The Arabian Sport Horse Nationals was held last year at the Kentucky Horse Park (KHP is what I usually call it) and my mom got to show in the $45 million facility built for the WEG (World Equestrian Games-I'm the abrrievating type!). The footing is really weird, its like felt, and we talked to one of the vets from Rood&Riddle and they said that I guess it has to be kept at a certain moisture/temperature or it gets slippery and I guess a lot of people have complained about it. However, it was GREAT for the outdoor rings: we got TONS of rain that week and they weren't sloppy at all!

BTW, you seem REALLY serious. I mean SEVEN HORSES??? I'm so jealous! ;) Do you take lessons or anything? I'm serious too; I'm convinced someday I'll be a National Champion, but my mom and I really do this on our own. We are TRUE amateurs: we get like 1-4 lessons a year. But we read and watch and learn all that we can for what we can afford, and we have had good results.

Ah, you're a jumper. Admittedly I have never been over anything bigger than a ground pole, but KC (my Arabian gelding) was owned by a girl who jumped before so I think he knows how to do it. I'd like to do some low stuff, how high do you jump?

Hey whatsup? I have an Arabian gelding, KC, and a pony, Carmel. I show both of them. I show KC in hunter flat classes at both open and Arabian shows, and I show Carmel at open shows in walk/trot (western or hunter) because she is physically unable to canter. What kind of horses do you have? What discipline do you ride?
