That's so cool! I wish my family rented a house on the beach! I love the beach it's so pretty and fun Aww I hope your dogs ok! What kind of dog do you have? I've always wanted a dog but it's hard because I'm allergic to some dogs...and some kinds of dogs I'm not so it makes things more complicated...sigh I hate allergies I have so many of them! :-(

Awesome! Yeah I know I can't really jump in on the series now. My favorite book is Just Listen by Sarah Dessen...she is my favorite author My moms best friend is her cousin which I think is SO cool :-D haha

Aw well that's still cool Maybe u will start taking lessons again someday! I haven't really read any of the Harry Potter books or seen any of the movies so I'm not....r u? I hear it's supposed to be really good...all my friends are really excited to see it. I just think it would be weird to see the last movie first....haha since I don't really know the story

That's so cool! Yeah I do...I've been taking chorus since 4th grade too and have done a lot of extra singing and voice classes/lessons...singing is kind of "my thing" lol Wow that is exciting! Um I think here we take it sometime during our sophomore year...I'm not totally sure tho haha I'm so short I can't picture myself driving AT ALL haha

Yup January 7th haha :-D That sounds so fun! That's how old the kids are at my camp too...well almost it's more like 6-12 I guess. My camp is an arts camp that has art, music and theatre classes :-D it's pretty fun. Soo what's new with u?

Hey! No problem That sounds so fun! I didn't really do anything for the 4th of July...sadly no fireworks or parties or anything :-( Oh well there is always next year I guess! I have been so busy at the camp I'm a counselor at too! It's pretty fun though...what kind of camp are you at? HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Wait so your birthday is July 7th? That's my half birthday! haha I'm 15 too

Wow that sounds like so much fun...renting a house on the beach! Yeah it was a bad year for a lot of reasons but 8th grade was amazing so I guess there are always going to be good years and bad years...I'm hoping this next one will be a good one tho! Aw i hate all the drama that always goes on with friends and at school...I try to stay out of it and help to keep the peace lol Wow that sounds like so much fun theatre camp! Um I'm interning at this kids day camp in my town with some of my friends...that starts next week on Tuesday. So far this summer has been pretty boring tho :-(

Thanks! wow yeah my cousins live in Maine so I've been to a couple of the beaches there...there are A LOT lol I live in Connecticut...we don't have any great beaches so my family and I usually go to Rhode Island. I hated 9th grade (for a million reasons) it was basically the worst year of my life...so yeah I'm really excited for sophomore year because I have a feeling it will be MUCH better. Plus it will just be great not being the youngest in the school anymore

Yeah, that is pretty good! And there are about 65 people in the cast, so it's a lot to fit into the small music room!

Yeah, I guess your director does like to push you! Yes, we practice in the music room. It's really small, though, and we have to learn the dances in there even though there's like no room! That's too bad! But third place is still good! At least, I'm guessing. How many schools were in the competition?

Yeah, having the music definitely helps you learn it. Our director gave us a CD of the music to help us learn it. Wow, you guys are getting onstage pretty fast! We don't start rehearsing onstage until a few weeks before the show. But that's mostly because I go to an all-girls' school and we don't have a stage, so we have to have all of our performances and onstage rehearsals at our "brother" school, which has a stage and auditorium. Their play doesn't end until next month, so we can't start rehearsing until after they're done. Until then, we're stuck in a really small room with a cast of 60 people.

That's awesome! Congrats! Musical rehearsals are going well. They're really long, though. Last night, I had rehearsal until 8. How are your's going so far? I mean, I know you said you just started them, but have you learned any of your songs yet?

We only have break twice a year, but they're for like two weeks each. At my school, everyone can be in the plays. Everyone who auditions gets a part, even if it's just ensemble. We don't have a festival or anything, though. Just two plays a year. That's good! When will you find out what part you got?

It sounds fun! My school only has two theater electives. Yeah, we are pretty close in age! I would love to do backstage stuff, like costumes and makeup, but I really don't have the time, unfortunately. I kind of have to pick between being in plays or behind the scenes. Thanks!! Yeah, I've used that song for several auditions. I think it's a good audition song. That's cool that you got to be Glinda in only your second play! I took a theater class a long time ago when I was in like 3rd grade, and I really want to take one again! I might take theater arts as my elective next year, but I don't know yet. And I'm in 10th grade. What about you?

I did The Girl I Mean to Be. Is this going to be your first play? Yeah, I don't think it's that well known of a play. It's kind of an odd plot, but I like it. We just read through the script at rehearsal today. And I found out I'm Millie! Sorry, not trying to brag, I'm just really excited because this is my first lead role in any play I've been in!

Hey! Is your voice normally scratchy in your middle range? Because if not, you could have a cold. Make sure you drink lots and lots of water leading up to the audition. And make sure when you sing, you have plenty of breath support. Also, don't overuse your voice. Practice your song twice a day, once earlier in the day and once at night. If you overuse your voice, that can make it scratchy. Hopefully, these things will clear it up. As for singing higher notes, you need several things. One, lots and lots of breath. Take low, deep breaths from your diaprhagm and continuously push your breath forward up to the high note. Sorry if that doesn't make sense; it's a little hard to explain over the computer because I can't show you what I mean. Also, make sure you open your mouth wide do that you're not closing your throat. Drop your jaw down and back. And whatever you do, don't listen to yourself! When you do that, you tend to get too focused on how it sounds that you can't just relax and let the note come out. Also, people tend to move their jaws forward when they listen to themselves. Hitting high notes takes lots of practice, though, and if you've never hit a note before, even if you do everything right, it might take a while before you can hit it. Good luck! And if you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask me!
