pinkkatie, I know that you probably wanted an answer from a MOD, but I saw your question, and I had the EXACT same problem. I was too scared to use tampons. Now, I don't even know why I bothered to use pads. The directions for inserting a tampon, is to first find a comfortable position (after washing your hands, and opening the tampon.) (I suggest lying on the ground, with your feet up on the sink, or toilet seat, I know, sounds weird, but it helps to get easy insertion) Then, you pull back the tube inside the outer tube till u hear a click. After that, you use one hand to open your labia, and use the other hand to insert the rounded tip in to your vagina ( the second hole)make sure not to put it in straight!!! Stop, when you push it in till the part where the smaller tube meets the outer tube. Then, push the smaller tube in the outer tube, with your pointer finger, you will feel a little uncomfortable the first time, but that's normal, and it doesn't hurt at all! This is the part that gets uncomfortable, if you are not doing it right. You have to have to make sure you push the WHOLE outer tube in to your vagina. Otherwise there may be a teeny, tiny bit of pain. After you push the smaller tube in to the bigger tube, take the applicator out of your body. (make sure to this slowly)To remove the tampon, pull the string on a 45 degree angle. You will feel uncomfortable, but it's not painful. MAKE SURE NOT TO LEAVE IT IN FOR MORE THAN 8 HOURS!!!!! and remember, it doesn't hurt, and it gives you the chance to be yourself, even during your "Time of the Month"
