Hey girl!
Ok so I think that before asking your crush for his number or further planning this party you NEED to talk to your friend. She obviously is going to be upset with the news since she is already against you talking to him so it's going to be a tough covo to have but a necessary one if you are interested in keeping her as a friend. The unwritten rule is that friends should always come before boyfriends "sisters before misters" and I feel like that is totally true. It sucks sometimes when you crush on a friends ex like in your situation.
So take a moment and list the qualities and things you value about this friend and your friendship with her. Is she and that list worth sacrificing?
I'm not saying you can't date this guy....she may come around about it. Or she may have a legit reason why she doesn't think you should go out with him (after all they did break up) other then the fact that he's her ex.
Bottom line: go into that covo with her ready to be totally honest about your feelings and with an open mind.
As for the party I would just casually mention in to these guys or on Facebook if you don't wanna go all formal and send out invites.
Just tell them you are inviting a bunch of people over for a little party and were wondering if they could come. I'm sure they will be totally into it.
Good luck I hope things work out with your friend and this guy. But remember you said you have other crushes...I'm sure there are other great guys out there if this doesn't work out that won't cause so much conflict.
