Hey girl! I saw your post about being nervous and what to eat before a track meet. Here are some really good energy foods: bagels, peanut butter, pasta(wholegrain is great), apples, carrots, nuts, sandwhitces(turkey or ham with lettuce and tomato on wholegrain bread), oatmeal, and fortified cearals. Drink water periodically, do NOT chug water right before. Have a few sips aroud 20 mins before. About the nerves thing though. Just tell yourself you'll do great. You didn't work all season for nothing! Good Luck!

Ugh, I hate having asthma.
I think you should go to a doctor and ask them if its okay for you to run w/ the track team. Besides all the medical stuff, you should stay on the track team if you like it. Don't let anything hold you back. Think of all the famous athletes before you who never quit no matter what the obstacle, look at them now. They're famous! lol, anyways...
If anyone is calling you "team cripple" just ignore them. Track is sumthing you have to love to be in. My skl has a track & field team....do they have you do stuff like shot put, if running is too much for you, maybe an alternative.

I just turned away. "I hate this! I HATE asthma!" I muttered.
Only moments ago I had been in 2nd place, just feet behind Laurie Columbus, the fastest girl in 8th grade, when I had an attack and was forced to stand on the sidelines while the last place kids passed me.
"Kenzie, remember to run PAST the white line. a good athlete always finishes the race." My coach had told me. Forget that. I was like the team cripple. Tears stung my eyes. I didn't think I could take it anymore. I was the only kid out of a hundred and somethin' runners with asthma. "Wow Kenzie you cant even run a mile" boys would sneer as I stopped to catch my breath. But they didn't understand. I didn't expect them to.
