I didn't ask my parents if i could have a boyfriend or anything. I just got one and then one day asked my mom if i could go to his house.

I think middle school age and beyond is good enough for dating. So if you find a guy you really wanna date talk it through with your rents and see what happens.

What do you think is the appropriate age to star going out on dates?

i think its different for every girl...and it depends on the guy and maturity level...if you find a really great guy and you are mature it would be easier to convince parents to let you go out with someone

My parents are really protective of me cuz I'm the oldest child in the family, meaning my parents havn't done the whole "letting my child go to the movies by themselves" or the "dating" thing yet. All of my friends have an older brother or sister so their parents have gone through it. I hope this makes sence!

i feel your pain on this one....but really the way to go about this is to familiarize the guy with your family...im not talking a quick meet and greet then go...for you first date...invite him over for dinner...of course ask your parents....say you have a friend and you were wondering if he could come to dinner so that they could meet him...of course this requires finding a good understanding guy lol but once they meet him and decide whether they like him or not...they would have a better grasp on your judgment and maturity...start small when asking for real dates..like ice cream at the closest ice cream place at 6 o clock at night while its still light or a group date...it might not be funn but building up your parents trust can go a long way...good grades...feeding your pet and doing your chores and keeping your room clean go a long way too...
