I'm Not Her

Author Janet Gurtler makes her debut with the new novel I’m Not Her. In the book, we meet Tess, an artsy girl who has been in her sporty sister’s shadow for as long as she can remember.
Shortly after school starts for the year, Tess’ world is turned upside down when her sister is diagnosed with cancer. Because her sis doesn’t want her popular crowd knowing why she’s absent from school, Tess is forced to lie about it as she tries to continue her day-to-day life.
But the gossip surrounding her sister gives Tess new popularity, and changes her life in ways that she would have never expected. With all of this going on, she struggles to deal with everything around her, from her sister’s sickness, the difficulties facing her family, her new popularity and the roles that have fallen on her.
I’m Not Her (in stores now) is a story that is nothing but completely real, giving you an honest look at the life of a teenage girl who has to go through dealing with illness in her family. You will be touched by Tess’ struggles and will find yourself inspired by the choices she makes.  Be sure to pick up a copy and tell us what you think.
Have you ever had to cope with a family illness? What helped you get through it? Blog about it, babes.
