The Orphan of Awkward Falls: A (deliciously) wacky Halloween read

A sure sign of the approach of Halloween is when books with scary covers begin to take over the shelves. And we aren't just talking about the typical paranormal romance types!

Keith Graves' first novel-length release, The Orphan of Awkward Falls, is one of these creepy titles. What could make a better story? This book is a delightful combination of humor, friendship, scary chills, a killer on the loose and a small town known for its...sauerkraut.

It may be a tad macabre, but you will be letting out giggles from page one, while simultaneously being spooked! The story follows unlikely friends Josephine, a curious girl who recently arrived in town, and Thaddeus, a young genius with a mansion full of kooky types. When a killer cannibal becomes a threat, the two kids come together to save Awkward Falls and their lives!

This super cool book is packed with black and white illustrations peppered throughout the text. Author and illustrator Keith Graves is best known for his kids books like Frank was a Monster Who Wanted to Dance and Chicken Big. Well, we can say two things for certain: The man has a way with titles and you can pick up a copy of The Orphan of Awkward Falls now. It's the perfect (new) Halloween read.
