Peter Pan meets steampunk in Everland

As part of our Perfect Beach Reads series, GL girl Viviana S. reviews suspenseful new novel Everland by Wendy Spinale. CLICK HERE to see the rest of the reads!

What it is: A twisted take on Peter Pan and Wendy. After bombs and disease wipe out all of the adults in London, children are the only survivors—including the Darling siblings. When Gwen Darling becomes a target for the evil Captain Hook, a gang of Lost Boys (and a charming troublemaker named Pete) may be the family's only hope.

What I loved: This book made me feel like a kid again—in the best way. I found Gwen very easy to relate to, and I loved how suspenseful the end of each chapter was.

Why you should check it out: Everland alludes to the original story of Peter Pan, but it's a super creative take on it. There was never a dull moment! I'd definitely recommend it to anyone, but especially big Disney fans who love adventure and romance.

Everland is out now from Scholastic.
