Beauty 101
With the cold weather rolling in, skin can start to look a little dull.
There’s no hiding behind a tan this time of the year, so caring for your complexion is even more important.
There are easy (and some free!) ways to get that healthy, radiant look you're going for. Here’s how to get glowin’!
Having healthy skin doesn’t always come down to the products that you use on your face. Make sure you eat nutritious food, the more colorful, the better (those are the ones packed with the most nutrients!) and are chugging water. Daily exercise and catching lots of zzz’s (7 to 8 hours!) make ya glow, too.
Exfoliating once a week can help get rid of dead cells and brighten up skin. Avoid over-scrubbing or risk irritating your face.
Coconut oil is nature’s best-kept secret to healthy, radiant skin! It has the ability to heal and moisturize your skin, as well as shrinking pores and minimizing breakouts. This rich, creamy oil can be applied as a substitute for any facial cream. Make sure to get an extra virgin variety, and apply once or twice a day.
Even though summer is over, you don’t have to put away your bronzer… but use it with caution! After applying your foundation, sweep a light amount of bronzer across your face for the extra glow. If you have liquid bronzer, mix a dab of it in with your moisturizer. Remember, you aren’t trying to achieve a full-on face tan, you just want healthy, natural-looking glow.

Who can spend an hour on hair and makeup in the a.m.? Uh, we don’t and we’re pretty sure you don’t either (hey, a girl needs her beauty sleep!). But that doesn’t mean you have to lose sleep to look amazing. We’ve got some super-speedy tricks to get you gorgeous—and out the door on time. Mornings have never looked so good.
Forget Foundation
There’s no need to slather foundation on your gorge face every a.m. Not only does it take forever, but it can make you look older. Instead, use a small amount of concealer to cover up blemishes and apply a tinted moisturizer over it. Let your natural beauty shine through.
Stick to the Essentials
Forget putting on a full face of makeup. Instead, apply two coats of black mascara for a wide-eyed look and a swipe of pink gloss. You’ll look pretty and polished, with zero effort.
Pump up that Pony
A ponytail with volume is totally rockin’ (and not a bit boring). Backcomb strands at the crown of your head with a small brush. Gather all of your hair into a sky-high pony. Add a cool elastic and you’re set.
Zap Drying Time
Blow-drying your hair can take forever and a day. When you’re in a hurry, focus on the t-zone only (around your part and hairline). If it’s too cold to go out with damp hair, use a dry shampoo to refresh locks.
Get Lippy
Make your lipstick work double (or triple) duty. Apply a couple of dabs on your cheeks and blend like crazy for a makeshift blush. Or use your fingers to smudge some on your lids as a girly eyeshadow. Just make sure to blend, blend, blend and add mascara.

Lip stains are amazing for times when you want to try a bold kisser, without overdoing the drama.
Our picks pack plenty of moisture too, so you get all the bennies of a balm plus a slick of cool color. Sorry, gloss, we’ve got a new fave (for the minute, anyway).
Get Red-dy
Brick red pouts pack lots of drama, but this draw-it-on hue isn’t too powerful.
Apply it to dry lips, keep your eyeshadow earthy and add just a bit of blush.
CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain in Teasing Blush, $9, walgreens.com
Just Peachy
Peachy lips look fab on absolutely everyone (seriously!). This blend is way moisturizing and adds a whisper of cute color.
Hello, date night.
Double Duty
We heart products that double up. This lip ‘n’ cheek stain gives your face a just-in-from-the-cold look and makes your pucker a custom shade of plum.
Love it with a coppery lip liner and a flash of mascara.
Stila Pomegranate Crush Lip & Cheek Stain, $25, sephora.com
Very Berry
Addicted to lip balm? We hear ya! This one has a berry tint, but you can still swipe it on whenever the urge hits. Amazing!

Halloween can bring out the goth girl in anyone.
Right now, we’re lovin’ the drama of ultra-dark shades.
From midnight nails to jet lashes, these inky hues are perf for nights when you wanna go for full-on glamour.
Don’t be tricked: This liner looks pure black, but goes on a li’l purple (not to mention shimmery). Rim your lids and then smudge it with a Q-tip for our fave noir eye of the moment.
Don’t wanna go all-out black on your eyes? Shades of gray are flattering on everyone and way hot this fall. Add black mascara and bat those lashes, babe!
Black tips are tops. Splash ebony polish on short nails and finish with a matte or shiny top coat, depending on how ya feel. A layer of silver glitter looks awesome, too.
Confession: We just can’t get into the Sharpie-black lip trend. Instead, we’re smitten with Clinique’s Black Honey gloss. It works with all skin tones (seriously!) and just dabbles on the dark side.
Gilt your lashes with a bit of glitter. Pass on regular mascara for a minute, and try a starry one instead. Sparkly mascara looks amazing with pewter shadow and natural lips.
