Tips to a Perfectly Healthy Complexion

It’s finally warming up outside, and we can totally feel spring on the way. With dances just around the corner, sports picking up the pace and plenty of time in the sun, it’s time to start paying extra-close attention to that skin.

Here are our best-ever tips for a perfectly healthy complexion:

Start by eating grub that’s especially awesome for your skin. Foods that are stacked in antioxidants (like berries and carrots) and fish are a fab start. So are downing seeds, nuts, beans and spices and drinking plenty of water.

Washing your face before bed (and after sports practice) is key for getting rid of makeup and sweat. You’ll be less likely to get clogged pores and dull skin. You don’t have to exfoliate daily or use a super-strong cleanser. A mild wash will get rid of the dirt without hurting your delicate face.

Stock up on sunscreen now! Make sure you’re using a moisturizer with SPF in the morning and reapply before you go out for practice. Not only are sunburns painful and lead to wrinkles when you’re older, but too much sun time can cause skin cancer down the road as well.

Smile—you’re on your way to a fab complexion!

BLOGGER BABE: You + Your Body + Confidence = Ah-mazing!

When we brought blogger babe Sarah on board, we were psyched that being body confident was super important to her. We asked her to spill her best-ever confidence boosting tips—they’re just in time for your spring dance!

Before my winter dance this year, I put a little extra time into my prep-sched. I danced around my room in my dress and heels and laughed at how silly I looked. Once I cooled down, I smiled at myself. I felt confident in how I looked, and I had a great time at the dance.

Let’s do the math: You + Your Body + Confidence = Ah-mazing! Having confidence helps you feel good about yourself and you’ll get a realistic and positive body image. You’ll be able to hold your head up high, and take on trials you never thought you could’ve. You’ll be like Superwoman!

Try this secret to up your confidence:

Take some dry erase markers and write your best qualities on a mirror (that your parents said was OK to write on!), write everything from your long legs to your artistic abilities.

A big confidence booster is to surround yourself with positive people. You don’t want to hang around people who put you down anyway. Being with people who have positive body images about themselves will encourage you to feel the same way about your body. Positive and uplifting people will also help you to shine and be the best you can be!

Triple L’s (Live Laugh Love),
Sarah

Take it Outdoors!

We know it’s still cold in some areas but, if ya can, try to take your exercise outside this week.

A recent study found that while training indoors for certain sports can be helpful, it’s not an exact substitute for the real thing.

In the last few days of winter, bundle up and practice your game outdoors. You’ll challenge your muscles more and get a dose of much-needed fresh air!

Best-Ever, Feel Fab Motivators

Today is super-sunny here in Baltimore and it’s making me excited for spring. Truth is, the last few weeks of winter can be some of the toughest, especially when you’ve gotta psych yourself up for a workout.

This week, I’m leaning on some of the B-E-S-T advice that’s ever been doled my way to get my butt out the door. I’m sharing these motivators with you girlies. Here goes…

Sign Up for Something
Confession: I haven’t really been running lately and, um, race season is right around the corner. I emailed a couple BFFs and now we’re gonna train for a 5K together. Gotta love strength in numbers. Once you commit to a class or race, you’re way more likely to get to action.

Move a Little, Every Day
My Nana always says you should try to exercise every day (she’s 86 years old and still lifts weights!). Even if I don’t feel like a major sweat sesh, I’ll go for a walk or do some yoga or a mini ab workout in my room. Make it a goal to do something healthy daily.

Start Fresh!
Skipped yesterday’s workout? Downed more pizza and soda than you’d like to admit? Time to move on, sister. You can start making healthier decisions right this second. So grab you water bottle and make a point to try a dance DVD or dust off your bike and go for a ride around the block.

Let’s start the countdown to spring, OK? Share your best-ever, feel fab tips below!

Healthy hearts,
Katie A.
