Radio Disney's NEXT Big Thing

Sure, American Idol won’t be back until January, but there’s another hot talent search you can follow along with NOW.

Radio Disney’s Next Big Thing (N.B.T) is a 10-week showcase that puts the spotlight on five young unsigned recording artists and provides them with the national broadcast and online exposure they need to jumpstart their budding career.

Each of the five talented teens—and tweens—will shine in the spotlight for two weeks at a time, where they’ll have a single featured on the Radio Disney playlist, a profile segment on Disney Channel (hosted by Sonny With a Chance’s Tiffany Thornton), plus exclusive videos and photos featured on RadioDisney.com among other neat stuff.

Listeners are invited to vote for the artist during his or her two-week showcase, either at RadioDisney.com or by texting “NBT” to DISNEY (347639) (note message & data rates may apply so get your parent's permission first). After all have been featured, there’s one open week of voting from December 2-9 for all musicians. And the stakes are high as the contestant with the most votes at the end scores the opportunity to have their single featured on the upcoming Walt Disney Records' Radio Disney Jams 12 CD. Cool, right?

While the program is already on its third artist, we’re giving you the scoop so you can hop in and follow along. To listen, look and vote for your favorite star CLICK HERE!

NEW MUSIC! Five Times August

Five Times August (a.k.a. Brad Stistimas) is a Dallas, Texas born native with a sultry voice that will leave you wanting more. His sound is like the music love child of Jack Johnson and Jason Mraz, making this creation a total hit!

His new album, Life as a Song (in stores now) is an eclectic mix of acoustic and pop rock, with lyrics that deliver heart-wrenching stories of hope, break-ups and love all around.

The album opener, “Do It Again,” is an acoustic and light-hearted song with a great rock-pop beat. It’s catchy, cute, and a total must for your iTunes library.

“Better With You” is another tune with a classic rock-pop vibe and some C-U-T-E lyrics. Coupled with its clever ear-catching chords, this song grabs your attention and keeps it!

“Love The Way,” our personal fave, is the slow love song of the album. Stistimas’ soothing voice is like a lullaby. His chords matched with the ah-dorable lyrics are the perfect recipe for a hit!

Be sure to check out Life as a Song and let us know your fave track.

Tokio Hotel: Humanoid

Tokio Hotel fans, rejoice! The highly anticipated sophomore album Humanoid has finally been released. The German born sensations have stuck with their signature sound of heavily-infused instrumentals and catchy lyrics. We definitely give them the GL seal of approval!

This time around, the international pop stars are presenting a set of modern tunes that'll be sure to keep your feet tapping and your head nodding. Twins Bill and Tom Kaulitz, 19, along with bassist Georg Listing, 22, and drummer Gustav Schafer, 20, are back and have definitely stepped up their game.

Track number two, "Darkside Of The Sun" will easily become an iPod fave! The sounds of the guitar, bass and drum blend perfectly to create a relaxing vibe with a tough edge.

Every album has to have at least one love song, and Tokio Hotel doesn't fail to deliver. Song number eleven on this addictive CD is, "Love and Death." The lyrics read, "Don't you mess with my heart, fragile pieces..." With such honest lyrics and irresistible charm, the band will have no problem reaching out to old and new fans alike.

With MTV's Best New Artist VMA already under their belt, Humanoid will be a fail-proof way to even more nominations and awards!

Be sure to check out Humanoid and let us know your fave track.

YOU WROTE IT

It was a strange scent, faintly familiar, like the perfume my mother used to wear. The aroma lingered around me, smelling like dried sunflowers and a soft touch of the new spring air.
