Tressed Out
Whether your hair is straight or curly, long or short, every gal faces similar hair problems. Flat hair? Check. Greasy roots? Got ‘em. Dull, dry hair? You bet. Stubborn dandruff? What a pain!
GL waded through the aisles upon aisles of shampoo to find the best ones for every hair type. You’ll ring in spring with gorgeous, healthy locks.
The best part? They’re all way affordable.
Just because you have thin hair doesn’t mean you can’t rock some major volume. Try an amplifying shampoo to strengthen your strands and add some major vah-voom!
A busy girl’s secret weapon to stop greasy hair? Dry shampoo! Grab a travel-sized bottle and throw it your purse for an on-the-go fix.
Winter can dry out even the healthiest hair, leaving strands dry and limp. Pump moisture into your locks this spring with a fortifying shampoo. Follow it up with a deep conditioner.
Any cute hairstyle (and um, any outfit) can be ruined by windfall of snowflakes. Relieve the itch and save your ‘do by washing your hair with anti-dandruff shampoo.
Unruly curls got you frustrated? All you gotta do is hydrate 'em with the right shampoo. Define, tame and eliminate frizz with a shampoo made especially for curly girlies!

Super-soft, 40s-inspired waves are the hottest curls on the runway. These beauties have a touch of structure (without being stiff) and are a totally glam alternative to a pony or locks that’re down ‘n’ straight. Whether you want flirty date-night strands or a pretty school-dance mane, here’s how to get gorgeous old-Hollywood hair.
This look works best with a dramatic side part. Use a comb to create a deep part (hint: the outer edge of your eyebrow should be perf). Create volume by teasing hair before you put it in hot rollers. Grab a fine-toothed comb and separate tresses into easy-to-work-with sections. Starting at the bottom of your hair, gently comb upwards toward your scalp a little at a time.
Next, wind big sections of your hair around small hot rollers. Let ‘em set for 20 minutes (just enough time for a DIY pedi, no?). Make sure you avoid using jumbo-sized curlers—they don’t give the right look for this ‘do.
Take rollers out and unleash the curls. Use a wide-tooth comb to loosen the curls. Then, hit it with some hairspray, and get ready to steal the show!

Every time I straighten my hair, it gets flat two seconds after I’m done.
I want straight hair, but don’t want it to look limp.
Help!
There are a few tricks to making flat hair plump and voluminous—and still stick-straight. Hint: Drop the flat iron!
Start by shampooing and working a volumizing conditioner into your locks. I like Tresemme products because they give great results and they're affordable.
Once you’re outta the shower, prep your locks with a volumizing mousse. Our fave is a little pricey, but adds serious lift.
Next, blow dry your hair, brushing it out with a round brush as you go. You’ll straighten and smooth your strands—but still get that extra oomph.
If you’re pulling your hair up, you can use a brush to lightly tease hair at the crown. Or, wind hair around hot rollers for dressy occasions. Use your fingers to loosen the curls and—viola—major lift, girlie!

Has the cold winter weather made a mess of your tresses?
We’ve got ideas for cute cuts and how to care for those strands during the last chilly days. By the time spring blooms, your locks will be beyond beautiful.
The Prettiest Snip
Wanna cut off those long locks in favor of something shorter and easier? Try a shoulder-length bob! Ask your hairstylist to cut your hair to your shoulders, and maybe add in some angles. It’s short enough to make getting your hair ready much faster, but still long enough to pull up in a pony when you’re off to after-school softball practice.
Go for a Tiny Trim
Even if you’re growin’ out your strands, ya gotta hit the salon for a trim. If not, your hair will suffer serious split end syndrome. The longer the ragged ends get, the less healthy your hair will look. If you think your hair is a little boring, ask for some side-swept bangs or a couple of long layers. It’ll add an extra zest to your long locks just in time for the new season.
Repair Your Hair While You Get Shut Eye
Deep conditioning is crucial during dry winter months. Our latest fave? An overnight serum that does all the work for ya, while you’re catching up on all that beauty sleep ya need.

Ease Up on the Ponies
Give your hair a break from the daily tail routine. Elastics can cause breakage, so let your long locks flow free a few times a week. Pretty clips can keep bangs off your face or hold sweet twists in place. A black ‘n’ gold combo gives ya plenty of tough love.
