I am babysitting two girls for a week. They are six and eight years old and the way I'm getting paid is that both me and her daughters go to French school so we finish a week before English schools and in our area there are no camps that week so the mom said that she would be paying 50$ a day for camps so I'm getting 50$ a day so after that week I will have 250$ which is pretty good.

Hey, i'm 12 and I've convinced my parents to let me start babysitting and they're fine with it, but I have no-one to babysit. Most of my parents friends don't have kids, and they say fliers wouldn't work as most strangers don't want a babysitter they don't know. Can you pleaseee help me?!

Mod Mod Mod!!!
I want to get into the babysitting biz but what
would be the best way of transportation? I'm nervous to ask mom or dad because they don't really like to just drive places when I need something small or picking up a friend. I don't mind walking if it's say, a couple blocks or houses away... Also, what do you think a reasonable price would be per hour?

Hey girl. Try biking or asking your parents nicely (emphasize that it is safer if they drive you). When I baby sat I was paid 5-6 dollars an hour, but I am not sure about what girls are paid now. Sarah, another intern here says, that she was paid minimum wage.

I had a one babysitting job and I thought it went pretty well, but I never got called back. Instead now my bff is babysitting for them almost everyday. Even when she went on vacation for a month, they still didn't get me. Now I hardly get any jobs. Am I a bad babysitter? I love kids, and we had so much fun but I don't know what I did wrong.
How can I get more jobs? There's not many kids around here and I would really like some more work. PLEASE HELP ME!

hey! you probably did fine, just focus on meeting more people to work for, ask your mom or dad to ask around for you too Smile

i want to start babysitting my little brothers(i have 3),but i don't thing my mom will let me really babysit (sometimes i watch my brothers while my dad runs to do a quick errand, but thats it) for several reasons only eleven
2.i don't have a cell phone and we don't have a home phone
3.she is really protective

Hey girlie, I understand why she would be hesitant, especially since you're so young and you don't have any way to reach her if there's an emergency. Just prove that you're responsible in the little bit of time that you do get to watch them and see if she'll change her mind.

MODMODMOD how old should you start babysitting?

Hey girl, I'd say 13 or 14 but it all depends on the parents of the family you're babysitting for, your maturity and what they're comfy with.

i am a certified babysitter since April.i havent had much buissness on my own.(usually with my friends).and i have posted flyers an did got a call but i had to say cuz it was my moms birthday party!but how do i get more clients?

I would ask your parents to see if they could ask their work friends, neighbors or other people they know. Since these people would know your parents, they'll probably be more likely to trust you to watch their kids. It can be tough for a parent to give a call to someone they don't know. However, I'm sure it helps that you're a certified babysitter! Good luck!

MOD MOD MOD how old do you have to be to babysit

Hey girl!  It really just depends on what the parent and the babysitter are comfortable with.  Some places offer babysitting training - for example, the Red Cross offers it for 11 to 15 year-olds.  xoxo

im 11 and i babysit 10 kids when i go to grandma house or when they visit my house its really hard my sister wont help me and the bad thing no one thanks me or give me something

Hey girl!

Babysitting always gets sticky when you're doing it for family. It would be a good idea to have a convo with your parents about your situation. Don't be whiny and demand that your grandmother pays you. Try telling them that you find babysitting 10 kids to be overwhelming, especially since your sister never helps you out. Be sure to say that you don't mind doing it, but you need to come up with a compromise that works for you and your fam.

Good luck!

I have been babysitting for a while now and love kids! I get clients from my church (I work in the nursery) and would like to know how to deal with infants. Like what supplies do I need? How to feed them? And other helpful hints when deeling with babies. Thanks.

Hey! pack a bag of infant safe stuffed animals, everything else the kids parent should have. To bottle feed an infant, cradle them in your arms, giving their neck and head plenty of support with your hand or shoulder. If they can't hold the bottle yet, hold it for them while they eat. Good luck!

Hey girl, def continue watching your little bro because that will show your dad your committed to baby sitting. Keep doing chores around the house, and it will slowly but surely build up his confidence.

I want to babysit for my neighbor and my dad had mentioned it to them when we were over on day. They asked me how much I would want and I said I didn't know thinking they might have a price already estabished for other sitters. Please write back of you can. Thx.

Im sure you can get some connections through your moms daycare. When parents come to pick up their kids, give them a flyer and explain how you can babysit if they wanna go out to dinner and such. Good luck! xoxo kerra

my mom is concerned with me babysitting. i've been a mother's helper b4 and wuz really good at it. my friends and family dont really hav kids... im 12 and the only ppl i know who hav kids i could babysit 4 hav a new born and another person who has 3 kids, a 1 yr old, a 5 yr old, and a 9 yr old. what should i do? should i just start babysitting in my neiborhood or take the job with 3 kids?

Hey girlie, I think it depends on how comfortable you feel with the kids and how comfortable their parents feel with you babysitting them! But you could also try babysitting the kids in your neighborhood.

I'm almost 12 (on August 16) and I was wondering is that too young to babysit? And also if I was asked for how much I wanted to be paid, what would be a reasonable answer? THANKS!!!!!!

Happy (almost) birthday! If you are babysitting kids who are 5-6, it sounds like you are the perfect age! But you want to make sure you are babysitting kids who you can handle, but also knowing that they will take you seriously! You wouldn't want to babysit someone who was 10, because they probably would consider you more of a friend.  Also, how much you get paid depends on how many kids there are!

I have a family and i really love watching their kids while the parents work around the house. They havent started paying me yet but i kinda want to start taking care off them on my own when the parents are gone. How can i make sure that they dont think that they dont have to pay me?

by cheerleading1882 on 7/22/2010 12:22:30 PM

When you babysit you shouldn't bring your cell phone. The parents won't like that you were talking to yuor friends all night instead of watching the kids. Yesterday I watched a little baby for nine hours, you think its easy but it isn't. You have to constantly keep an eye on them so they don't put anything in their mouth or they don't go near the stairs.

by ambersgirl on 7/22/2010 9:13:03 AM

I have two questions.
1: I really want to babysit but I'm turning 13 in September and there isn't a lot of kids on my block. I'm kind of concerned that when I become a babysitter, I'll have no clients! What should I do?
2: My second questions is: What supplies should I get for babysitting? I have a binder, dividers, calculator, pencil and eraser, and a store-bought first-aid kit. What else do I need?
Please answer! Thanks!

Hey babe! Try babysitting for family-friends first! Or try being a mothers helper, where you can babysit, while the mother is in the house, doing chores/errands, etc.  Babysitting doesn't really require a binder or anything! It just requires a lot of playing, the willingness to want to play games and have fun with the kids.  The biggest thing is to have phone numbers from the parent, in order to contact them if anything goes wrong or if you're having trouble with the kids misbehaving.  Also, if it's a baby you may be required to change diapers.

i got my first babysitting job tomorrow, and i'm super nervous. The kids i'm babysitting are 9 and 6. We know them super well, but the 6 year old it difficult. She also has multiple food allergies. Luckily, my mom talked to their mom, and she said that there are no foods in the house that will casue a reaction. I'm just nervous, and i cant really say why i am, but i don'twant to cancel on them.
How can i calm my nerves?

Hey girl once you're there and playing with the kids you will get the hang of it!  Babysitting is awesome since you get to play with the kids and act like you're their age again!

I have a family to sit for but they live in the country and one of my friends is their neibors and the little girl told me that she is going to be watching them. The problem is that the one time they asked me i was going to be on vacation. The mom is a preschool teacher and the dad is my princable so they usually don't need a babysitter. But anyway i think she is is trying to steal my job but the one thing is that REALLY bugs me is that she can't even get her homework done on time let alone 4 soon to be 5 kids!!!!!!!!!!!!! what should i do???

Hey babe I think you should talk to your friend.  She may not have been trying to steal your job.  Maybe the fam's parents want a babysitter that lives closer to them for emergency reasons and asked her.  But keep looking for more families and then losing 1 job won't matter as much!

Mod! I have tried flyers and everything!!! I'm 13 and I've taken a Red cross CPR and first aid class...(it says on the flyers too) but I'm not getting anything from it! help!! how can I get people to babysit for??

Hey chica, I would check in the newspaper each week, in the classifieds section to see if anyone is looking for a babysitter. Also, you could take a walk in your neighborhood and go knock on the doors of houses that you think would have kids (like ones with toys outside). Introduce yourself to the parents and give them a flyer with your contact into.

I babysit for the same family every Sunday for the next 4 weeks, from about 6:30 to about 10:00. The kids are already fed, all I do is put them to bed. They youngest goes to bed at 8, so I start getting her ready at 7:45, what are some fun things to do before that? please don"t send a link, actual idea's of yours/things you have used would be great! Also help from girls on the site would be great too! Thanks!

Hey girl, have the kids show you their favorite toys, games, books and stuff.  Little kids have no problem talking so just listening to them may be enough time haha!  But then offer to read them a book (or part of one) or play a game.

MOD MOD MOD!!! Also, I have another question. Hehe It's perfectly fine if you don't feel COMPELTELY comfortable answering this, I'm just looking for suggestions. My friend and I (we play guitar together and sing a lot) were just asked to perform at a wedding in September. The thing is, it would be a PAID performance, and they are asking how much we charge. It is a low-budget wedding with lots of monetary problems going on in that family (the parents aren't helping pay at all, the lady that is getting married has taken in two kids that aren't hers bc their mother died of cancer at age 23) so they are short on cash. I don't want to charge a lot because of that fact, so do you have some suggestions of reasonable prices? Thank you so much!
Love, PhotographyGirl

Hey girlie, I think how much you charge depends on a lot of things like how long you're playing for, how much experience you have, and what type of wedding it is. I think it's also good that you're taking into account the financial situation of the couple. I don't really know exactly how much you should charge, but you could ask them what price range they had in mind to pay to get an idea of how much you should ask, or ask other people who have played at weddings how much they charged!

Hello! I have a question Is there another way for a 14-year-old to get money? I mean other than babysitting and mowing lawns and stuff like that. I really want to save up some money for a new guitar. One of my best friends and I play guitar together a lot and sing (we are actually really good if I do say so myself, we have been asked to play at our church and lead songs and play at house blessings and weddings!!) but I don't know how I could arrange to do shows and get PAID.....or if you can suggest a completely different way to get money, that would be great Also, I'm not really looking for an EMPLOYED job (say, at McDonald's or something) I'm just looking for a way that could get me some cash without having too many set hours that I HAVE to work. Thank you so much!

Hey girlie, Here are some fun ideas you could try: You could also try seeing if you could start a band and book shows!

MOD MOD MOD! i posted this a few days ago but it didnt sho up. the babysitting classes in my town are always canceled because barely anyone signs up and i was wondering if a cpr/first aid class would be ok. thanks!

Hey chica! A first air or CPR class would be great to take! And, it would look great on your babysitting resume Smile

I finally convinced my mom to let me babysit! So next week i'm taking the safe sitter class at the Y. So I told my grandma today that my mom said yes. And she couldnt believe it lol. So I told my mom what she said and I was joking around and she said yeah you can babysit. But only here. She meant my house like when her and my dad are around! That's not even babysitting! and knowing my mom she would hold the baby the entire time and if i tried to do something she would yell at me and tell me i was doing it wrong...thats what she does with my cousin anyways! How do i convince her to let me really babysit? THANKS!!!!

Hey girl, I think you should take the class still, and by actually going through with the class maybe you can convince her that with all the skills you learned you're ready. I would be persistent and keep showing her your responsible and ready!

Mod, I'm really mad right now, and sad. My younger cousins, some 2 years younger than me, are all spending the night together. I always feel left out. I'm the oldest! They ignored me today, like always. I left without saying good-bye-I tried saying "I'm leaving now" but no answer. I'm always the one never going on trips with them or spending the night. What should I do at future get-togethers?

Hey girly, I totally understand how you feel. Sometimes I feel like that with my bro and sis, who are super close. You could try talking to one of them alone about it, and let her know that you really want to hang with them more often. Or, you could start organizing some get togethers yourself and inviting them. Invite them over to sleep over, or hang out more often. Maybe, that'll bring you guys closer and they'll start including you more. It's possible that they could be not including you because of the age difference. Maybe they think you wouldn't want to hang out with them because you're older. Try inviting them to do stuff more often.

Hey Girls! I'm 12 years old and I really want to start babysitting. I have some families in mind. The one I think I know the parents best it just so happenstheir kids are kind of wild and can get out of hand. What should I do about this. Also, Do you think it would be ok to make flyers on the computer and stick them in the families mail boxes around the neighborhood that I know the best and if so what should I include in them?

by chickadeefo on 7/2/2010 4:50:26 PM

Thx gl, but i am still confussed, how do i get parents to want me to babysit? i mena i am getting a job next week but i want more babysitting jobs, my mom says a flyer, is that a good idea??? i am almost thirteen, i have like 10 kids i can sit but do teh parents want me to introduce myself to them?

by peaceloveact on 6/27/2010 1:54:06 PM

Hi, I'm 13 and I havn't babysat anyone elses kids except for my siblings! I barely know my neighbors because we just moved in last summer and the neighbors close to us don't have any kids! I need some MAJOR pointers!

by aviatorsrock101 on 6/26/2010 4:05:52 PM

I am 11 yrs. old. I have a two yr old cousin and i help my grandma babysit him all the time. I would like to babysit some neighbor kids. but am i too young. I love babies adn kids and am VERY mature for my age.

Hey girl! You could always be a mothers helper, and help out the mom by babysitting while she's home, so she can get household tasks taken care of without having to look after the kids.

mod- im going to turn 13 in a couple months, do you thats old enough to babysit, even babies?

hey girly, if the parents and you are comfortable with it, then it's fine. You might think about taking a babysitting or first aid class at a community center first!
Alissa S.

by aa97 on 6/23/2010 11:56:05 AM

Ok so i wanna start babysitting, but i am 11 and im not sure if my parents want me in a house alone with a kid... i have a cell. i think i would be fine.. but do u think i should wait a little till im older to babysit? i live in a neighborhood where i dont know anyone and most people are drinkers... wat should i do?

Hey girly, I think the best thing to do, if you think you're ready to start babysitting, is to offer to babysit for people you and your parents know, like your cousins or your parents friends. Knowing the kids you're watching beforehand is really helpful, and you'll also be familiar with the family, so you're parents will feel more comfortable. You could also take a babysitting class if there's one offered at a community center or school!

what should I put on a babysitting flier? I have babysat several times and I am great with kids, and have taken the babysitting course but just do not know how to word it.

by beachluver97 on 6/22/2010 10:43:54 PM

I'm 11, but am extremely mature for my age and my family knows that. Do you think my family would let me babysit for them?? Thanks!! Smile

by CutieTML on 6/17/2010 2:37:54 AM

Would it be a good idea babysitting with a friend. we catch up all the time so we wouldn't talk during the babysitting and she is good with little ones while I am good at making up games.

Hey! As long as you are paying attention to the kids and working together to make sure everything is under control, then I think it would work fine!

I'm really young but not too young. I need advice!
I'm babysitting my 6 year old girl cousin while we're camping. She's kind of picky. She loves being out and about but whenever I take her out on hikes and things like that I end up losing her. It's so annoying! I love kids and all but things can get out of hand. I have to pack food for her and I don't know what to do. I'm bringing a cell phone thank goodness. But to rap things up I need HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by LittleLonelyPanda on 6/16/2010 3:32:28 AM

You in fact do not have to have take a babysitting course to start watching after kids. Let's say you're watching your next door neighbor's little boy, and you've known the family for years. If they really trust you and know you to be a good kid, they'll be thrilled that you offered. However, if you want to baby sit the new family on the block, a baby sitting course might give Mom a piece of mind. A babysitting course would just make things easier anyway.

by princessjulia97 on 6/14/2010 11:53:17 AM

I have a question................. do you have to take babysitting courses in order to do babysitting????

Hey girly, some families may require their babysitters to be CPR or First Aid certified, in case something goes wrong under your watch.  But most of the time, parents are just looking for someone who will be able to entertain their kids for a few hours.  Practice taking care of younger siblings if you have any.  They do offer classes that help with babysitting, but you definitely don't have to take a course in order to babysit!

MOD!!!! Ok, every night my mom and I go on a walk(we live in the country.)Well, last night this red truck full of teenagers was swerving all over the place. I started freaking out, so my mom had us basically walking in the ditch. I was so scared, and now I'm too scared to go even near the road anymore! Is there any way to get over it?

Hey girl! It is probably safe to walk on the side of the road anyways, but just keep your eyes open and your senses alert and you will be fine.

Today I have to babysit maybe 6 little boys for 7 hours. My sister will be there and so will my cousin and we wll be babysitting them. The oldest is in the 2nd grade and I think the youngest is in Daycare. Is there any fun games you prefer we play or any tips you could give me on how to have fun with the kids? This is only my second time babysitting.
Thanks xoxo. Freddi N.

For 7 straight hours everyday, I would sit at my computer screen and play...and play...and play some more. I eventually quit just recently after realizing that this was bad for my health and even the blood circulation in my legs because of the way I sat.
So I decided to try and join anything I could get my hands on. I'm waiting to see if I'll be accepted into the Student Concil at my school next year at the moment, and I'm conspiring to join karate and a dance team, possibly tennis too.
I'm also planning on babysitting as a summer job for summer; I've had my heart set on it since the beginning of last year.
My BFF and I are planning to work together on our baby biz once we're cerified (spell fail). But here's my stitch: Most people on my BFF's and my block don't have kids; either that or they take them everywhere they go. I'm worried that our biz won't get enough biz.
We're only doing business with the people in our small town because only a month ago, some dude was found in a van in our school parking with a swiss army knife, a rope, a sheet, and other things. He was arrested. His intentions were unknown. Now I'm absolutely terrified about babysitting, alone, at night, and possibly sleeping in an unfamiliar house.
So now I'm considering doing a different job, but I wonder if I'm better off with the baby biz. What other jobs are suitable for a 13-year-old girl with ispirations swinging at all ends?

Hey! I'm eleven and my parents and I feel that I am responsible enough to babysit. I have taken an online course and have read many books but my dad says I should take an in-person cpr course. I know how to do it and I have taken an online course, but my dad says I should do an interactive course. My mom and I called a place where they offer cpr courses but they haven't gotten back to us. I really want to babysit right now and don't want to wait for months. What should I do?

I need help! I have recentley had my first babysitting job. I babysat a 3 yr. old girl-Emily and a 5 yr. old boy-Mathew! Emily was great, she wanted to draw, go outside, eat an occasional cream puff(which I can understand why...they ARE good), and draw, but Mathew only wanted to play on my littl sisters DS. The reason he got a hold of it is because my sister (who is 11) gave it to him when I told her not he did not do anything else the WHOLE TIME!! Can I get anyhelp on what to do...I need suggestions on what is fun for a five year old boy! I would also lie to ask if GL is planning on having something on babysitting in the next magazine?

Hey girl, I would just suggest asking him about something else he wants to do. Or maybe you can just get the DS back from him?

I am 14 and I'm going to be taking a babysitting class in about a month. Meanwhile I am going to ask my mom, dad and step mom to look for people who are looking for babysitters for this summer after I take the one day course. So I am going to make some business cards and fliers for this. What should I put on the business cards and on the fliers???? What should I avoid putting on the business cards and fliers????

I suggest you put your name and how you want to be a babysitter first off. Secondly add the course you took on there as qualifications and then also include how youre a fun girl. If you make ppl want to have you babysit their kids youll do great! xoxo kerra

I am going to be babysitting for the first time today! I am babysitting a five year old boy and a three year old girl! I love the kids, but sometimes they can be a little hyperactive! How do I tire them out? The kids parents are here for small group from church, so I am pretty much watching over them! So when the kids mom and dad go out, they said I can babysit for money!

MODMODMODMODMODMOMDMOD!! Okayy Tonight my family is coming over for a get together and I have 2 cousins that are 5 and 9. I haven't started babystitting and I would like them to be my first job. But How should I ask my Antie? And Should I be prepared about any questions shes going ask me?? Thankies,,

Hey girly, just tell her you want to get into babysitting and want to start with your cousins. Let her know you would be responsible, give her your cell and house number just in case she has to reach you. Tell her you would have activities lined up to keep them entertained. It might also be a good thing that you don't charge since it's your first time. Yes you should be prepared for any questions she has for you. Smile

MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD i am babysitting for the very first time on saturday night. the people are my sister's regular clients but my sister was already busy that night so i got the job. how can i spread the word and get more jobs???

Hey girl!  The best way to get babysitting jobs is by word-of-mouth.  Let this fam know that you are looking for more jobs, so they can spread the word if they know anyone looking.  Let your mom and family members know, and spread the word in your neighborhood!  You could also ask your sister to help, since she's already got some regular clients.   Good luck with the babysitting!

How old should you be to start babysitting?

Hey girl,

It all depends, some states actually have rules that regulate this age but not all. Usually people start babysitting around the ages of 13 or 14.

hay i took a babysitting course last year. I babysit 2 girls and 2 boys. The kids are ALWAYS hitting each other. Also , the parents come home later than they say. sometimes they wont come home till 11 30pm. so how much should i charge. My mom says 5 but i feel like that is not enough.

by meiping623 on 4/17/2010 3:41:41 PM

hey i babysit a 3 year old girl and a 4 year old boy...pleas hide this so no1 can c it THNX SO MUCH!

Hey girl,

Basically, when you work for people, you have to respect their wishes and do things their way.  This means: her parents say that you have to take her everywhere, so you have to do things that way.  Do they have a "baby potty" for her to sit on?  Most parents do have on in the house from potty-training, so it might be helpful to get this out and have her sit on it while you sit on the "big girl" potty.  It might even help you guys bond in a weird way - she is most likely doing it because she looks up to you and wants to be like you!  You can try the tub idea too since that would make clean-up easier.  Just keep trying different things and don't get discouraged <3

What age is babysitting right

Hey! I'm pretty sure it may differ from state to state. But legally: 12 years old is the age, however most girls don't start til they're 13 or 14, so that way they feel comfortable and mature in babysitting the kids.  Also parents are more likely to trust teenagers, and ask 12 year-olds to act as mothers helpers rather than babysitters.

what if ur moms friend has a little baby and he is like so playable, but is so attached to his mother like never gets off her, if i babysit the baby do u think he will cry all the time cuz he missis his mom? should i babysit him? what should i do?
please help

Hey! I think you should babysit him only if you feel comfortable. Maybe try babysitting him for a short amount of time the first time you take the job.  He could just like to be held, but voice your concern to the mother and she'll show you what to do when he cries and how he likes to be held best.  Usually moms with babies are very helpful and write tips for babysitters when the baby is acting up.

MOD! Hey! How are you? I'm taking a babysitting course this summer, but I already babysit LOL. How much should I charge per hour??? I only babysit people who I really know, and I dont want to feel like I'm you know robbing them of money haha. Is $5 per hour a reasonable price? Thx!

Hey girl! It really depends how comfortable you feel but I would def up that price a little! I would say $10 is usually pretty standard. You are taking care of their children and to have the best care, they shouldn't mind shelling out some extra bucks!

I took your advice from the last comment and calmly discussed the matter with my mom. She got furious with me and yelled at me!!! She doesn't want me to be unsupporvised or without an adult. She claims she doesn't want me in some one else's house. I told her we wouldn't baby sit people we didn't know, but now I'm in trouble! I'm not going to bring it up for a while, but, I need money!!! My mom also wants me to save money for a bike. I need a new bike, but i've been saving money for other things. When I wanted a pair of knee high converse, she said no because she thought they were ugly and told me that I need money for a bike!!! I don't know what to do anymore! HELP!

Well i suggest you let the problem sit for a while. Maybe keep proving that youre responsible enough to handle the responsibility. If she sees that she can trust you alone, then maybe she'll let you babysit alone. Good luck with everything! xoxo kerra

I would love to start babysitting. My friend and I started a club and need to raise money to fund everything for it. I am very responsible, on National Junior Honor society, get great grades, and love kids. But no matter how hard I try to convince my mom, she won't let me. I am thirteen years old! I babysat with my 29 year old cousin once and we watched my 3 and 5 year old cousins. I think I will be able to handle it. My best friend and I would like to partner up and start a baby sitting business, but that won't even convince my mom. How can I start to babysit?

I think the only thing you can do is talk to your mom about it. If she lets you, then you can make flyers and post them around town.

MOD!!!! Okay so I am 13 years old and I just got my first job babysitting a family friend's 2 year old Emma! She is a really easy kid to watch( I once watched her at my church for like an hour or so) but the thing I am most scared about is changing her diaper. I will be going to their house from 6:00-10:00 and it will just be us two there. Any tips on how to change a diaper because I have never done that before! Thanks in advance!

hey girl! you should ask her mom in advance cause im sure there is something specific. the mom will be impressed that you asked so you can be shown perfectly, and that you dont act all squeemish about it!

MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD Hey! I REALLY want to babysit, but I don't have my liscense yet. I am also getting my CPR certificate this summer. But that's not the point. I am only eleven and I'm really scared that I will have to baby sit a kid almost my age! How can avoid this?

Hey girl, I started babysitting when I was around 11 years old. You just have to be confident in the fact that you are in charge. I never seemed to notice it being a big deal. As long a you establish that you are in charge, and prove that you should be (don't feel flustered when it comes to making dinner, putting kids to bed, etc.), then you should be fine.

MOD MOD MOD MOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Once I take the Red Cross Babysitting Test, I want to wait about a month to start babysitting for kids aged 4-8 or something. Can a 12 year old babysit or do you have to be 13?

Hey girl!  I know girls that started babysitting around that age.  Of course, it all depends on your parents and the kids' parents.  If they're cool with it, and you feel ready, then you're good to go.  Good luck with the test!

I've been baby sitting for almost 3 years now and lately I've been getting paid any where from 10-15$ an hour. It really depends on who I baby sit for and what time. The most kids I've had to watch at once was 4, it also helps to have older kids be "helpers". I've baby sat kids from the ages of 3-12. (did have an infant once but she slept the whole time)

Today I'm babysitting my cousins (2 adorable boys!) and I can't wait until they get here! One time- I fed them mac&cheese- let's just say the shower had macaroni noodles in it!!!! Today their mom will feed them lunch and I just have to put them to bed for a nap.

Please respond before 1:00 p.m today!!!!!!!

MOD!MOD!MOD!I'm 11 and really good with kids. I have had a bunch of expierence in my church's nursery and i've been offered around 15 jobs since i turned 11 in July. A bunch of the moms their want me to sit for their kids because they know i can take care of their kids and their kids all like me. I know baby/child/adult CPR and I have taken a babysitting class. I was talkiing with my mom and she says I need to be 13 while I am already ready to start my jobs. I'm tired of waiting and letting the parents try to find other people. I live in the country annd their dosn't seam to be anyone else offering up their services. The parents know I could handel it, I know I can handel it. What are some tips for convincing my mom. I have even heard some parents say their just waiting for me to be allowed to babysit. I really want this. !HELP!Ineed my mom to understand that I am ready now.

Hey girl, tell one of the mothers who want you to babysit to talk to your mom. Maybe she can convince her that you're ready to babysit. Your mom might also listen to her because she's another adult. So try setting up a meeting. Smile

How much is a good price for a 2 year old who is pretty well behaved? I told my neighbors that I would watch their daughter and i don't know what price to tell them I would work for. Please write back. Thanks!

Hey girlie,

It's been a long time since I was a paid babysitter, so I'm not sure what the rates are Frown I'm sorry!  Try asking some of your babysitting buds if they have any recommendations.  If you can't do that, just go with your gut!  Remember: minimum wage for any "real" job is $7.25 an hour, so you might wanna keep it around there or a little more.

My parents keep trying to tell me i need to tell my cousins that i dont need to get paid, but i think it would be nice to make a little extra change. What should i do????

MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD!!!!!!! I'm interested in making some money and i know how to do cpr and all the health aid things. I was considering of making a flyer and putting it around my neighborhood. And i just got over my fear of dogs so im not so comfortable around them unless i really know them. Do i really need to take a babysitting class? And by the way im 14 so help me! thanks Smile

Hey girl, if you want to take a babysitting class, it certainly wouldn't hurt, but it all depends on your experience with kids. I would be careful putting flyers around your neighborhood. Only accept jobs from people you really think you can trust. A good place to put them also is daycare centers. Good luck!

I live in a city and all of the people in my building don't have kids, so I don't really know where to go to ask people if they need any babysitting!
Any suggestions?

by citygirl423 on 3/20/2010 6:45:00 PM

Err.. Hi, I'm new and I'm not exactly sure how this is suppose to work.. Someone is suppose to answer if I post "MOD", right?.. Well, anyways:
I'm 12 almost 13 and have never babysat before, there are triplets across the street that I get along with well. Should I start with them? And also, do I need to take babysitting classes before I can actually babysit..? Thanks in advance!

Yeah, that is how it works. Some parents prefer if you take a Red Cross class but you don't have to. I think that would be a great place to start.

by NolaGranola on 3/19/2010 8:38:40 PM

Mod.. How old do you have to be to babysit?

I don't think there is really an exact age. I started around age 11, I think. It really just depends on what your parents are okay with, and what age the family (That you want to babysit for) is looking for.

MOD MOD MOD i babysit my little sisters for my parents a lot. right now they dont pay me anything and they say ur payment is ur clothes and stuff like that. i would kinda like to start saving up money for a trip im takin with friends this summer, what do u think would be a fair price per hour seeing that they do buy most of my clothes and stuff thx =]

Hey girlie! Maybe you can ask them for some "allowance" for babysitting and doing some other chores. Explain that you're trying to be responsible and save up for this trip and maybe they'll consider! It's worth a shot!

Hey girlie,
With kids that little, they must go to bed pretty early, right? Go to the bathroom right before you head over to babysit them, and try to hold it in until after they go to sleep.Be sure not to drink too much! This way, you won't need to have her in the bathroom with you.
again pleas domt say tht I NEED ADVICE PLEASE!

Hey girlie,

The two year old is awake for 12 hours straight? If so, let the parents know about this problem and ask them if they have diapers she could wear while you babysit.

Okay, I have looked for stories or books for little kids so that way when I babysit I can read to them at bedtime and try to get them to sleep. I can't find anything good! I thought about writing my own but I don't know if the kids will like them. Any Ideas??? Thanks!!!!!

Hey girl, how about you make a story up with the kids? Get 'em involved and make the story together. That'll get 'em focused and allow 'em to stay in bed.

Everyone else isn't always right. You should find out for yourself. Do so by asking him straight up. Be like, some people told me that you were saying you didn't like me, and I was wondering what happened since we barely know each other. Best,

Hey new babysitting girls, i hav a few tips 4 you!HERE YOU GO: You should always try 2 arrive a few minutes early- maybe 5, but 10 might be pushing it. When you arrive early you can distract the kiddies while their parents get ready to go to wherever they're going without their kids getting in the way! Also bring some cool things from home that the kids will like to play with so that they don't get bored with their toys. And as soon as they kids go to bed wash the dishes and pick up whatever is out, even if you and the kids didn't get them out- you might get a few extra bucks and they will def want to call you back next time!
good luck! xoxoxoxoSmile

MOD please help
I'm just getting started with babysitting and i have a kinda different situation. There are these two kids that i'm supposed to babysit soon and i'm not sure i can handle it. One is 4 and the other one 2. and the problem is that they only speak french. I go to a french immersion school and speak french pretty fluently, but i'm really nervous. I've only babysat them once before but with my sister, and now she's too busy with work, i'm just sooo unsure about this situation.

Hey babe,

I think you'll be okay. since they're so young you probably don't need  that much french to talk to them. If you're really nervous talk to the parents and see if you can schedule an unpaid playdate with the kids while the parents are around so you can get some practice.

MOD! I am 12 almost 13 and ive taken a corse on babysitting but it seems like nobody needs a sitter theese days. Also my mom thinks im too young. Any ideas?

Hey chica, yep getting any type of job these days is hard. But why don't you start with family. Ask some of your relatives who have young kids if they need a sitter. That's a good place to start because your family knows you best, so once they see you're a responisible babysitter, they can pass the word along to their friends, and you'll be in buisness. Smile

I am 12, and want to start babysitting. But everytime someone has a babysitting job, they always give it to my older sis who is like, super sitter in our area. I've babysat before, just not very often. And I need a way to earn some dough. What's a good wayto start out babysitting?

Hey girl,

You should ask your sister if you can pick up some of hers.  Also if she's ever unavailable have her tell them to contact you.  You can also make fliers or business cards to distribute throughout the neighborhood.  This will show people that you're responsible and really interested in getting a job!

I have a married 25 year old sister who is pregnant. YAY! But I'm only 11 and my sister is very pick and everytime i mention babysitting she talk about other babysitters with my mom. HOW can i show my sister i am responsible enoguh that i can take care of the baby with a little help ofcourse?

Hey girl, 11's a little young for babysitting, so I can't blame your sis. Right now you'd be a way great mother's helper though, so start from there and show her how awesome you'll be so when you get old enough, she'll let you be her official babysitter. Don't take her convos personally right now -- most girls don't start babysitting until they're 13 or older.

Help! I'm almost 13, and pretty mature for my age, and i think im ready to babysit after watching my friends little sisters (many, many times) and reading fro, GL. The problem is finding clients. I know you probably get this same questions millions of times, but word-of-mouth wont work because my parents works are far away and none of our family friends or anyone have young children. I would do flyers, but im not sure if dad would agree. What should i do? Thanks(:<3

Hey babe,

Talk to your dad about it and see what he says. He might be okay with it, or at least with you putting up fliers around your school or giving them to your teachers so that you know any clients you might get would be people that you can trust.

Mod Mod Mod We were wondering if you knew how to start a babysitting buisness?

Hey missy, you should start by asking some of your friends to join. Come up with a name and start organizing all the info. Assign jobs to each person (who will answer phones, who will babysit, etc.) After that set up hours and pay for your babysitting group. Decide who works which nights and how much you will charge per hour or per kid. Next, create a flyer with all your babysitting contact info, (phone numbers you can be reached by, address, etc. ) and get the word out by mouth too. Tell your mom and family members to tell their friends who have kids. You should be in buisness in no time soon! Visit our babysitting page for anymore questions ya might have!

Hey girl,

Def talk it over with the family. If it's $15 per kid, will that be per hour? Those sorts of questions are important to consider. Rates are rising but make sure you reach an agreement with the family too!

girlies- if you have any advice on that subject please comment on my profile. Check Out my profile too!!!!

Hi Chica,

Play games with them. For babies try things like Peek-a-Boo, singing, dancing with the baby, or hiding stuffed animals throughout the house and looking for them with the baby. For toddlers, try coloring or playing hide and seek.

Hi babe,

Have your parents ask around at work. They might have a coworker looking for a sitter. To earn a bit of cash see if your neighbors need someone to do odd jobs: pulling weeds, walking dogs, etc.

MOD!(: So, im a teenager whose been ready to babysit but i'm pretty busy. I'm really good with kids, close friends of my family had me almost watch their 5 kids. I would love to babysit but i don't know how to let people know! i had an idea of posting something at my church, but i don't even know how to suggest the idea or what to put on my flyer. Help?!

Hey girl. My suggestion would to be to start within your fam first. That way you can get a little experience under your belt. Then just post flyers offering your serivces, with contact info and how much you charge. Hope this helps! Mel

I was planning on starting a baby sitting buisness with my friend, like you guys said. We were both going to go to red cross training today, but my parents both work, there is no one to take me, i lost my cell on vaca at my cousins house, and she still hasnt replied my email on the flyer that i made.
So here are my questions. 1: Do you need training to start babysitting? 2: How should we distribute our flyers? because the street i like on that has no kids besides my family. Door to door seems like the only way beacause i don't know if we have a community bulitten. Help ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey babe,

1. You don't need training, but it's REALLY helpful and parents will be glad you have it, especially parents who might want you use your business but don't know you personally.

2. You can put them in people's mailboxes. Even if they don't have kids, they might know someone who does!

I'm having a tough time getting gigs and I even took a babysitting class and first aid class for it! This helps but my parents don't know many people who have kids and don't have an older sib to watch them. I also love on a street with no other kids so hopefully putting up fliers will help.

I found a mom who needs me to babysit, and I am just a beginner. I am taking a class this week and i am going to just watch the kids while the mom is home to get to know them. The only thing is that it's 2 boys and one is eight and one is six. I saw them when I met the mom and they looked kind of wild. Do you think I would be able to handle them alone with the mom gone?

Hey Girl, def! Just stress that your in charge for that time, and they can still get timeouts or lose privliges if they dont listen. *Cara T*

I love little kids soooo much but my mom doesnt think im mature enough to babysit yet, or stay home alone. How do I prove to her that I am mature enough? I know I would be able to handle anything, but lately i just don't think she believes in me. HELP!!!

I actually got my first gig from my neighbors daughter. Their babysitter's father fell off a water tower and the sitter had to be with him. They called and I said "Of course". He was a year old and I got paid a ton for such late notice.

MOD--I'm going to be babysitting cousin's daughter (she's 2 years old) this Thursday. I've watched her while my mom was in the house, and my 5 year old cousin while my older brother was in the house, but this is my first time babysitting completely by myself and in someone else's house. I'm kinda nervous, and afriad she's going to get bored. Also, my cuz told me to name the price and I have absolutely no idea what to say. Help please?

Hey girl! I would suggest checking out the Babysitter's Club section of the GL site for tons and tons of articles, games, and advice about babysitting. You can check it out here:

As for your money issue, I would suggest talking to your friends who have babysat before and see how much they get paid.

how do u get more customers. i gave out flyers but theres no results. its been 3 months

next step sounds like parents: ask them if they have any ideas about a friend or person they know needing a babysitter!

a tip for beginners: On your first time babysitting for someone else, bring your mom or a friend that knows how to babysit just to show you what to do.

MOD, should we take a babysitting class before we babysit?

Hey girl, you don't have to take a class but it def helps you! Plus, it looks really responsible and impressive to potential clients. Taking a class shows that you're committing to doing all you can to be prepared for a babysitting job, and that's awesome. ~Alexa

I want to babysit and I've been a helper b4 but I didn't get paid.My mom's friend has 2 year old twin boys.I help my Mamaw with babies(6 months-2 years old)at a daycare'and I love it but I still don't get paid.I'm 13(will be 14 in Nov.);am I too young???I want to make sure the parents trust me with little ones.I took the quiz on here and answered yes to all the questions. How much should I charge???? Thanks!!

Hey babe,

Talk to your family and family friends and see if they're looking for a babysitter first. Remind them about all your experience and ask what rate they think is fair. since they already trust you to help out, you have a good start. In the end it's going to be up to the parents to decide if you're old enough and what they should pay you. You can ask for a small amount to help out instead of more to babysit full-time too. It won't be as much money, but it'll help you get experience for when you're older, and making any money is always helpful!

i would try any of the or all of them!  You never know till you try and you can prove your responsibility just by taking action!  If they ask if you've had babysitting experience, don't lie, but explain how prepared and excited are you to be babysittin their kid!

i really want to babysit but my bff and her little sis get all of the jobs because their mom is a daycare provider. when neither of them can take the job i tell her she should have them consider me. but she just say the kid is really picky or doesnt like strangers or something like that and says they always have a back up. it annoys the crap out of me. my mom says she is just afraid they will like me better and ask me to babysit for them instead of her. my friend proved it when one of 'her' clients asked me if i was able to babysit sometime. i said i don't have anything to do (at all literaly) and when my bff found out she flipped and was like no way i was babysitting for them then. she has the whole town thinking that she is the only and best babysitter avalible! any advice on what should i do?

Im going to take a babysitting course soon with my friend. After that i dont know who to babysit other than this cute little girl i hardly know and my nextdoor neighbour but she alway has a adult around. Also my school year ends in one week so i cant put up fliers there. How can i get some more clients to babysit? Please help me!

Hey Babes, Go to the neighbors house and just tell them youre a babysitter. They might want a weekend alone or something. Also, put up fliers at church or the local community center. xo Annemarie

MOD Ok i've looked at all the comments already posted and you guys give great advice. But, I think mine might be a little more complicated. My mom wants me to babysit and I want to also. But, my mom and dad don't know anyone I could babysit for and I have babysat with friends but other than that i've never babysat. I also haven't gone to any class. But, I'm VERY responsible and one of the best students in my class. I just can't find ANYONE to sit for. Plus my mom doesn't want to put fliers up. And it's really hard when ALL my friends have kids to sit for. And last..I REALLY need the money!!!!!!

Okay so next week I am babysitting these two kids that go to my hebrew school for 9 hours (8-5) for the whole week (Monday through Friday.) I have babysat them before for the same amount of time but just for two days. Last time we got through the two days but this is a whole week and I don't know what I am going to do with them. (we are not allowed to go outside) I don't want them to be bored. What are some cool inside activities that I can do with them? Thanks sooooo much!!

how do i mention being a moms helper? should i do it when the kids r there? should i make fliers? how do i convince my mom to let me do all this? how do i mention doing being a helper when the nanny isnt there if i dont no when she works? thanks mod!

Hey girl, It doesn't really matter whether the kids are there or not. If you want to babysit, go ahead and tell the adults that you are interested. There's really no way of specifically doing it. Just go up and tell her that you would like to babysit someday. Also it says in the articale that if you can't get the word out, you should try making fliers. As for convincing your mom, you have to show her that you are responsible and willing to take on the challenges. When she asks you to help, do it. SHow her that you're ready. As for your last question, I'm not quite sure what you're referring to.  <3 Jeannie

MOD MOD MOD MOD!!! the other day my bgf took me to meet our new neighbors they were soooo cute and i rly wanna babysit them!! however, they hav another neighbor who is a junior and they will prob ask her how to i get it so that maybe they would let me babysit...also im 11 and my mom thinks thats too young to sit but i hav a baby bro, cuz, and like friends siblings and i no how to take care of them how do i get it so she lets me babysit!? should i start by being a moms helper where i go and help with the kids but not when the moms home?? i think i would make a awesome babysitter if i had permission!! HELP!!!

Hey babe!

A lot of parents are super protective of their kiddies and so they tend to want older girls to babysit. It doesn't mean you wouldn't be a great babysitter, it's just that parents just tend to want older gals. Definitely offer to be a mother's helper! The moms will get to see in action how great you are with the kids so they'll be more likely to hire you in the future as a babysitter when you're just a tiny bit older.

I really am anxious to start babysitting because I love little kids!! I put a flyer in my neighbor's mailbox. But I don't now where else to put them. My parents won't let me hang it up. Frown But I keep telling them that I worked so hard on it!! So 2 questions: 1. Where should I hang up the fliers (I don't know any daycares around me and I can't hang them up in the grocery store.) 2. My parents are saying that babysitting is a great idea but whenever I say I am going to put up fliers around our neighborhood, they say "oh, we'll have to talk about it." How can I get them to be more open for me to hang out fliers? Why are they so hesitant? I am 13 years old btw.

Hey Babes, Why not put an email address on it instead of a phone number. Make a personal email JUST for use for babysitting. This way your folks can feel a lil safer. xo Annemarie

With calling the parents if the kids are crazy, remember being crazy with a babysitter yourself? Yeah, we've all been crazy at least once in our life time. Maybe you broke something and they couldn't get you to calm down so they could clean it up. Or maybe you wanted to play with something and your sibling was, so you were yelling and throwing a fit for pretty much no good reason. All I'm trying to say, is everybody is crazy once and a while. So it's okay if these kids are a little nuts.

Still, it could get a little nuts, really bad nuts, too. THEN you call the parents.

I've never been babysitting alone before, and now I'm booked for Saturday night. I'm super excited, but the only thing is that there are 3 kids. I've known family for ages, and they are really well-behaved kids. Also, I've been there baysitting with my sister before, and have visited their house multiple times. But I'm still kind of scared. I'm a licenced babysitter, but I'm worried that I'll forgot how to do important things like, CPR or stuff like that. Please help me!

Hey babe, there's nothing to be worried about. Just make sure you ask the 'rents all the important questions before they go and have your 'rents on stand-by in case you need to call and ask any questions. Be confident, you'll do just fine!

OK! I have only babysat once for a ex-boyfriends little sister. Well actually we weren't goin out at the time but like my 'rents and his 'rents have been friends for like 4 years. The we started going out. I only babysat for 2 hours while Sherri (the mom) went to a PTO meeting. i really want to babysit more people but i dont want to like make posters cuz my mom is a princepal and like most of the town knows us. It would just be to embarressing. What should I do. Cuz I want to get paid and like my moms friends have kids like around my age or a year younger. Im 12!! and they have older siblings that could babysit them. What should I do?? Sorry it's so long!! Frown PLEASE HELP!!!

Hey Girl- If I were you I wouldn't worry about it being "embarassing."  If you wanna get the business, you have to let people know you're out there, and what better way than with flyers.  Hang them around for a bit, and if you don't get any calls, you can always take them down.<3Ash

I'm 11 and my mom think that i'm to young to babysit. any other ways to earn money?

by shortney on 3/25/2009 7:37:34 PM

y is it better to hand out flyers instead of hanging them up? would i seem to desperate for money if i went up and asked them? my mom talks to a lot of people in my church. would it help if she talked to people? thanks

It's better because the person actually gets to see the person that will be babysitting their kids and you can make great conversation by handing out flyers. Your mother helping you out is a great idea.

i used to babysit for a family, but they don't hire m anymore. there r some little kids in my neighbor hood but i don't know if they want me or need a sitter. also there are tons of small children in my church. would kids my age make fun of me for putting up a flyer? i am very well known at the church, but have never babysat any of the childern. any ideas to help me get a gig? THANKS

I would just walk up to and ask people in the church if they need a babysitter next weekend like after church service. You could say you are babysitting to learn about responsibility and someone should def offer. Flyers are a great idea, but I would hand them to people and not post them up.

MOD MOD MOD!! Okay, I love to babysit and help my mom at her work (she is a preschool teacher) but lately I've been waning children of my own. I mean, I won't do anything with a dude, just a child. I'm really good with them and they love me. And I've been taking care of my yougest sibs (6 & 7). Any help?

Hey babe, kids are a lot of responsibility as I'm sure you know! Just enjoy being young yourself. Have fun watching and playing with other people's kids. When you're much older and ready you'll have had great practice for your own!

by jujuju on 3/18/2009 3:49:15 PM

If the kid you sit for on a regular basis will NOT go to bed? Dont quit sitting for that family just set their clocks 1 hour or 30 minutes later so when its 8:00 and time for bed the clock will say 9:00 so when the clock says 8:00 (its really 7:00) you can say BEDTIME! and if they freak you have an hour before they really have to be in bed! (Dont try this on older kids cause it will not work cause they are smart) PS: SET BACK THE CLOCKS WHEN YOUR DONE!!!

by WoodenGuitar42 on 3/16/2009 7:27:11 PM

MOD I really don't know anyone who's an age where i could babysit them, but i love little kids. Where's a safe place to put up a flyer? (not church)

Hey girl! Put them in your neighbors' mailboxes or in local businesses that you visit a lot.

what does "MOD" stand for?

by footloosegirl on 3/15/2009 7:20:51 PM

Hey Mod, I really really really REALLY want to babysit but my parents wont let me I'm 12 years old turning 13 in a couple of months. My parents say they'll let me babysit if I can find someone to baby sit but they won't let me babysit strangers. I can't babysit family either because all my family's older than me. What should I do??

Hey Chickie,

Ask your parents if they can help you find some people to babysit for, a co-worker or some neighbors.  This way they're involved and they'll feel more comfortable with you working.

I need help. Ever since my neighbors moved out,( who had the kids I used to babysit) no one on my street has asked me to babysit. I asked my family if they needed a baby sitter or know somebody that needs one and they said no. How do I get someone to ask me? I really miss babysitting!

Hey girl! Try making up flyers and putting them in mailboxes around your neighborhood and hanging them in local businesses.

mod mod mod i am 11 and have only babysat for my brothers am i to young

Most parents want the babysitter to be at least 12 years old.  For now I would just get a lot of practice with your younger brothers so that people know that you can handle watching their kids when you're a bit older. -lauren

One problem, my parents don't let me talk to any of my neighbors cuz they don't like them- they're all college kids and like to have wild parties. And we don't have family friends either, and my parents don't have any colleagues since they own their own business. Basically, I don't know anybody. How do I get a gig?

by converse_luv_4ever on 2/22/2009 5:38:16 PM

i babysit a three year old, and hes just hitting the terriable twos. (late bloomer. lol) its not always fun. at all. but what i learned is that when the kid is acting up, i pick him up and sit him in his "time out chair" the kid TOTALLY stops! i just make sure to hug him after so that he knows im not mad. then i stick an elmo dvd in and he doesnt make a peep until the movie is over. magic!

by irishdancingfool17 on 2/22/2009 3:13:06 PM

Here`s some other good tips!!
*Always ask if the kids have any alergies.
*Check on sleeping children like every 30 min.
*Check on awake children like every 5 or 10 min.(it seems like a lot, but it takes like 2 secs for a kid to get hurt or get into something) And if ur babysitting younger kids keep them in sight at all times.
*Never leave a little kid in the bathroom unsupervised(sounds weird, but u never know what a kid will do in the bathroom!)
*Don`t be too bossy!! Remember u ARE the boss but u can still play with them!! Trust me, if u play with them, they`ll give u a better report to the rents!!
Hope these help!!

MOD-My friend and I design greeting cards, but we don't know where and who to sell them to. Any advice?

Market them, get a website and sell them off. Also go to yard sales, fairs, etc and sell them there.<3 Sherryn D.

MOD- So I went to this sleepover last night with 5 other girls. But at like 1 or so we decided to go to bed because we were going to get up early, so anyway. My friend woke me up and was like "I feel sick" and I was missin' home and not feelin' so hot. So I said that I did too and we decided to call our parents because we didn't want to sit there the whole night wishing it was the next day so my mom came and picked us up and then we dropped my friend off at her house. My parents weren't mad but I am kind of embarassed I did that. Should I be embarassed? Does this happen to a lot of people? Thanks! Sorry this is so long!

Don't feel embarrased, it takes awhile to sleep at someone elses home. Just keep doing more sleep overs and eventually it will all fall into place.<3 Sherryn D.

I really want to start babysitting for extra cash and i think i will do well cause i've done it before with some cousins & im great with kids. the only problem is i dont have any gigs, and i can't babysit relatives & family friends cause they already do it themselves & my mom says that even if i do babysit them, i can't charge them because its not nice since they are close family & friends.
how do i get gigs that i can actually get paid for?

Hey babe,

Baby sit them for experience, make business cards and tell the people you babysit for free to refer you to their other friends, co-workers, etc. Their friends, etc will most likely pay you.<3 Sherryn D.

by daad13 on 2/22/2009 10:31:19 AM

about calling the parents, before they leave, and not in front of the kids, ask them if it's okay for the kid(s) to call to say goodnight if they want to. that way the parents will be expecting a call, and u can also give a little report, "timmy ate well and is getting ready for bed. Have fun, see you at ten thirty!" or something like that

by dolphina10 on 2/22/2009 10:18:30 AM

Okay,so i have to clean my room what are some ways i could start cleaning it and like make me want to keep cleaning it and not throw everything in the closet? Also i want purple highlights and my mom said it was fine and so we went to go get them and we were gettin them from hot topic and then she read the bottle and it said it culd make me go blind if i got it in my eye so we ended up not buyng them! She said she would take me to a professionaal to get them done, the sitch is, i dont want to get them done by a pro, cuz what if i didnt like them? and the one from hot toopic was demi permanent which means they would come out in about 7 weeks so tht is why i really want those ones... and also i want to get my cartilage pierced, my mom, i havent convinced her, im an only child too, so she may not want me to grow up,(im 12 and a half) and when i ask for a reason she says i said no and i get all po'd, so yeah and my moms boy firend said he was alright with it, i am even willing to pay for it! and i told her tht he would take me but she still says no! ugh! im really mad at my mom! URGH! UGH! ugh! oh and the link you gadve me for the modeling for gl thing it says "oops" and then tht i should check out gl new site and stuff so can u help me out????? Thankx once again!

Whoa babe, you have alot of questions, lol.. Try to get containers with compartments with it to store stuff that you don't want to throw away. Also, get your hair dyed professionally at a nice salon to prevent any funny stuff from happening. Next, and maybe you shoudl wait to get your cartilage pierced. I've pierced ears before and I know you can easily get that area infected if it's not properly cared for. wait till you are older and when you can deal with that. Lastly, try this site

Good luck, whew! I hope this helps Smile <3 Sherryn D.

tip about babysitting: try to make going to bed fun! pretend that you are the head director of a train and use the bathroom and any where else the kids need to go to before they go to bed as the stations!
