My whole family is Catholic and expects me to go through confirmation soon. But I’ve decided not to go through with it.

MOD! MOD! MOD! Please help me i go to a catholic school, but i am not catholic, i am presbytarian. I feel really alone and left out. I have a few friends that arent catholic,but we all feel this way. When we go to church, when everyone else gets their bread I have to put a big X on myself with my arms so they dont give me bread. Also, In all the church pamphlets it says that they hope the sad wrongdoings of other religions will dissapear but until they do they wont permit us to recive communion. When Teachers ask about baptism, and I say I never was, everyone stares at me like im a bad person! Do I have to be Catholic to got to heavan? because thats the message i get from my school. Frown




Hey girlie, that must be a really tough situation. I think you should bring your concerns up with your parents and a guidance counselor at your school. The idea of a "Catholic" heaven is a catholic religious belief. Think about your own faith and what you believe. If your not sure of that again talk to your parents and guidance counselor.

Punx72, I have a question for you. How do you think single celled organisms appeared in the first place? They couldn't have just appeared. Besides my mom died a few weeks ago and I believe being a christian has helped me through.

I have a huge problem. I've been Christian for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a Christian family, was baptised, and still go to church every Sunday. But I don't feel comfortable with Christianity and I want to change to Wicca.
The problem is, my parents are zealots when it comes to religion. It's a touchy subject in my household because my parents make it seem like it's the only way. They don't like Wicca at all and view it as ridiculous. How can I approach them without maikng them really angry?




Hey girlie, It can be really hard when you're not the same religion as your parents. I think you should ask your parents if you can have a talk with them, and explain to them the reasons for your discomfort with Christianity. Tell them that you respect their beliefs, and they should respect yours as well. What religion you are should be up to you, but your parents might not be totally cool with that. You might have to keep going to church with your fam to keep them happy, but you can believe whatever you want!

We started off as simple single cell organisms and then evolved into muti-cell organisms and so on. My dad has a Geology Degree from University Collage London, and I'm studying GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics. We all didn't just appear from some imaginary god making us. That's just stupid. Religion never helped anyone, it just causes wars. My Nana is an extremely religious person and she has Bone Cancer. The doctors say she has 3-6 months left. She loves God and Jesus and never did anything bad in her life. But she still got this terrible disease. God can't help anyone due to the simple fact that he is NOT real. I'm 13 and I know that already.

I know religion is an important part of one's culture and stuff, but if someone treats u different cuz of religion, then religion is dumb. u shouldn't base your opinion of someone because of religion! This is why i don't agree with missionaries. it's nice that they try to help peeps less fortunate, but getting them to change religions is just wrong!

P.S. this is why i dont like bush: “No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered as patriots. This is one nation under God.” Wow talk about rude!

I believe also that being a chistian means loving God, and believing that Jesus dies for your sins. Catholics and other religions have alll theese special laws to go along with that, and I dont agree with those. Like my friend, in her religion you can't drink tea. What does drinking tea have to do with being a christian? And in catholicism why can only men be priests? Both genders love God and believe that Jesus died for their sins right? That is why I am non-denominational. I go to church that doesnt care what clothes you wear or how you are know, as long as you are a christian and belive in God!

I am a nondenominational christian. My dad goes to a great non-denominational church which I love. However my mom was raised Catholic, but now isn't religious and doesnt really belong to a religion I guess I could say. My parents are divorced so I only get to go to church with my dad. I love church and God, so I wish that my mom shared the same Christian ideas as me. Through her childhood as a Catholic, she was taught that she is a sinner and God doesnt like sinners. She thought that instead of God having unconditional love for her, that he hated her or hated all her sins. But I have learned through my dad's church that God is forgiving. He loves me so much and has given me everything I have. So I love him back. He is like a friend, I can pray to him with all of my problems. It is so great to know that he is always there and that he has an eternal life up there in heaven where I can belong forever in his love. <3 <3 Smile

I think that your family should respect your choice and love you for who you are, not just what you believe. I am a Catholic and I know that even if you don't accept God, he accepts you. Think about your choice but whatever you choose just remember that your family and God love you very much and nothing can change that. God bless!

HEY GIRLIE, think about it they are catholic they should be able to except you I mean I am catholic and if you were my friend I would tell you go for it. This is not ur parents' or your brothers' life or choice. They shold have no say in your decision of your religious belief. The only person's say that matters in this is YOURS and if your family can't except that then I can hardly believ that there are even catholics. I know God would want you to go with what you want and to make the decision and have free will to do that so go with ur heart and what it tells u.

Hey girlie! The healthy amount of calories for a growing female is around 2,000. If you are active, you will need more, and if you are more sedentary you will probably eat less. Instead of counting calories, just eat when you are hungry and stop when you are full, that way you won't eat more calories than you wanted. Remember, love yourself the way you are. You don't need to go crazy counting calories. Just eat healthy and exercise for at least 30 minutes every other day.

Hey girlie! She should really tell a parent ASAP. She needs to get medical care from a doctor that's important for her and the baby's health. Be there for her. Hold her hand and go with her to tell her parents if she wants. She'll need your support and friendship for a long time after she tells her parents too!

I know what thats like... my dad was raised a catholic, my mom a christian... But i dont believe in either of those faiths. Its hard to feel like you dont belong...

I suggest you follow your heart... if you really want a religion to follow, i suggest one thing... research, research, research..(thats how i found my calling!) there are tons out there, find one that fits you! or become an agnostic! nothing wrong with that!

Remember, dont let anyone pressure you into becoming something your not! Believe in yourself!

Hi I'm Tyra From Florida. im 12 1/2. 13 in oct. And a proud Christian. I must say it is amazing to be in God presence in a prayer and in all i do. I spent the summer at church were i teach with ministry group our name this summer was unashamed. i also was filled with the holy spirit and spoke in tongs while deep in prayer durring our daily prayer devotion time. At my church we learn the difference between our religion and many others. For example some of the beliefs in Catholicism are not in the Bible, like repenting to your pastor at a both or only males being pastors. One of my pastors is Female. We also don't do confirmation. We believe that the only way to the Father God is through Jesus and believing he is God's Son and that God DID raise him from the dead and confessing our sins to God and you will be saved. and Baptism is just an act of obedience to Jesus and an out ward appereance of an inward being saved. I was baptised April 9, 2007. Our beliefs on Judism is that Jews became Christians by believing in Jesus. I also have learned that the Jewish Torah is the First Testment of The Christian Bible. So yes i aM a proud Saved Christian (protestant)

That is tough! I would say just go with what your heart tells you! I love my church because it is exactly 1 hour long, almost all my friends go there, they have the best program on Sunday nights for teens, the songs are so lively and load you don't even feel like your at church, you can wear WHATEVER you want even jeans! And last but by far not least, my crush goes there ♥ lol!!!

I am Catholic also. You really shouldn't get confirmed if you aren't sure your in the right faith, so if you don't want to do it now if your questioning the values. Getting confirmed is the step to getting serious about your religion, so if your not serious, you shouldn't get confirmed. A lot of people when they get older start getting closer to God, sometimes it takes trials for you to find out that God is there and you want to get into your religion, so tell your mom and dad that your just not ready for that big of leap into your faith just yet. I'm pretty much convinced my religion is special. At least check out the Everything skit on Youtube. It's not specifically Catholic (actually its a Christian skit, which by the way Catholic's ARE christians, just not nondenominational Christians)anyway that video is really beautiful and i cried when i saw it because it was just so real and beautiful. good luck!

I'm really sorry to hear about that! I have a rabbit too and I know how upset I'd be if anything ever happened to her. It's okay to be upset and to grieve for as long as you need to. You don't have to be okay with it right away, but as time goes by you'll adjust to being without her and then maybe you can get a new pet that will be just as important to you as she was. stay strong girlie!

Hey, I'm sure there's other reasons other than her not cleaning her room as to why she's being homeschooled. Maybe your friend just isn't wanting to be open with you about it, which is ok. Just let her know that you're there to support her in any way you can.

you go girl for staying true to yourself! im christian, but i dont really believe in organized religion, i just believe in god. i think there are many distorted things in all religions, like whats the deal that in catholicism only men can be priests? i dont believe god ever said that. and i think its very strange how in the bible the only books are by men, i strongly believe that mary magdellan definitely should of been in it more. but just do what you think is right and be who you want to be Smile

i don't agree hunderd percent with the decision your making. i was conformed a few years ago. but i HIGHLY DOUBT YOU KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT IT . even though it's good to go with you believe; but you sould probably talk to more people like a church leader, and give more thought then "i want to keep a open mind" . because after all this is a major decision your making. then in a year you can make you can make a decision.

mod mod mod okay so have this friend well not really a friend but i think she is just trying to get attenion but she cheats on all her bfs and she has dated all my guy friends. but what makes me the maddest is that she is very easy and bragges about stuff she has done.. and last summer she hocked me up with a bf and when he dumped me she told me on 3 way that she didnt know either to laugh or cry it made me soo mad.. but other then that she goes to chruch and took her soo called friend with benifits and idk but when she was there i ignord her and what really upsets me is that she is the wrost friend and she reallly hurts my other friend's feelings she stole her bf and i am the one who speaks my mind and i dont want to start drama but i am sick of it.. please help

MOD I think I might be getting sick. For about a month I've been waking up in the morning feeling sick to my stomach, and I've also been feeling very sleepy, thirsty, haveing headaches, and feeling kinda out of it. You think I should see a doc about this? This was happening off and on for a while, and just in the last month it's been constant. I had to babysit today, and I wasn't sure if I would make it through my job without napping... Luckily I made it. Do you think it's anything to worry about?

MOD*MOD*MOD* My dad is a TOTAL church freak--If he didn't marry my mom, he said he would have become a priest! I get dragged to church every week, along with confession every couple months and I am signed up for sunday school. I honestly think its SUPER BORING and I don't really believe in it all! I wish I could just live without religion and not believe in anything. I could NEVER tell my dad, but I don't want to do sunday school and confirmation!

mod i have the same prob...'cept i actually have to. my dad says no way am i not getting confirmed. i don't know what to do, considering it's next year (i was gonna just ask closer to it but this is much more convinient, cause there's an article about it) my mom's catholic, but not really. she gets my views, but since i'm babtised and up utnil this year have gone to a cathlic skool, i should stil be confirmed. what do i do? just kinda go with it, or tell them again that I DON'T WANT TO? thanks uuuu!!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~MODDDDD~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ help me please! one of my "best friends" is a friend stealer! about a year ago she stole one of my best, best friends away from me ("its not my fault if she likes me more" she said) and i got over it, but now, shes stealing another one of my best friends away! now the friend who is being stolen barely ever speaks to me and never notices me if im with the friend stealer. I was the person being stolen's friend way before the stealer was and the stealer never even noticed my friend until she was like my bff at camp. she has stolen my friend away from me. help! it makes me so sad.

hey(: so i need some advice! i have liked this guy for over a year now. we're good friends and all, but he's more popular than i am, so we don't have the same friends. in fact, his friends hate me. whenever it's just the two of us in homeroom, he's SO nice to me. he's funny and sweet, and we talk about all kinds of things togther. but when he's with his other cool friends, it's different. he doesn't talk to me at all and he's a total jerk to me. i'll say hi to him in the halls, but he'll ignore me because he's with his friends. it's happened more than once and it really hurts my feelings. but i know how nice he is when we're alone, so i can't stop liking him. i'm afraid that we won't have any classes together this year, so he'll forget about me. i know he would never date a girl like me because i'm totally not his type, but i can't help it. i don't want to give up. i'm not sure what to do, i at least want to become better friends with him, but he's only good friends with the popular kids. please help? <33.

I actually just recieved Confirmation. Personally I think it was a really cool experience and I totally believe everthing the church teaches so i think you might want to talk to some people before you make that huge descision. You should also have someone explain any of your questions. You could cojmment on my profile too becuase I'd love to help you understand the church. Even if you don't end up being Confirmed, you should still hear some apoligetics! I'll totally pray for you! But just remember that whatever descision you make God will always love you and be there for you!

Honestly, I think it's wrong and completely immoral of your family to be disappointed in you. If they're Christians, they should know well enough to respect the views of others and other religions because that's how Catholicism is taught. You deserve respect and support for your decisions. Hopefully they won't force you to get your Confirmation because then they would be completely missing the point; you should get your Confirmation because you WANT to receive the Holy Spirit, you shouldn't be like "UGH my parents are making me receive the Holy Spirit!". Kudos to you for understanding you DON'T have to follow in your parents' footsteps. You're living proof that teenage girls actually have minds...

I've nvr been baptised or anything but all i have to say is follow ur heart. there's no point in being Catholic if it doesn't feel rite or you don't believe in the religion. But i'd say study some diff religions and see what fits! Smile

That's a tough sitch to be in. I can't say I agree 100% with my religion, but I agree with most of it. I think all religions have the same goal and that's to make their believers good people. Hey mod or anyone I need some advice...
So I consider myself inbetween outgoing and shy as far as personality goes but I get WAY intimidated when I'm in a big group of people, especially if there are guys around. I feel totally awkward and I don't know what to do or say. I'm not sure how I can feel better about this because when I'm in a huge group, I just want to run off with some of my close friends and hang out with them. But I DO want to be able to hang with big groups. Help!




Hey Girl! I am exactly the same way! When you are in a big group of people its important to remember to be yourself. Be the same person that you are with your close friends-they like you for who you are. Being in a big group may be a little out of your comfort zone, but its ok to take risks! This is a good chance for you to make more friends!

I'm a Catholic, and I was confirmed almost 2 years ago, when I was in 8th grade. (Yes, that means I'm in 10th grade now) This year, my sister is getting confirmed. I don't agree with your choice, and I don't think that you know everything about Catholicism, or everything about the choice you're making. But it is your decision, and I suggest you pray a lot about it(if you're continuing to be a Christian) and talk to a lot of people, like religious leaders, your friends, and your family. This is a big decision, and you want to make the right one. I'll be praying for you!

I'm not religious at all. I'm not atheist, either. I'm just ME. I believe in love and kindness. I don't go to church, and I won't be going to "hell", either. I am fine the way I am, my dad was Catholic when he was a kid and my mom was Methodist, but now my sister, my parents and I are all non-religious. We are a perfectly fine family and I've never had a communion or anything else. I am fine. you go, girl! do what you feel is RIGHT!

MOD~~ I have a problem that's always bugged me. At home and around my closest friends, I'm completely loud and outgoing. But then, at school when I'm around people I don't know as well, I say almost nothing and it's like I'm a completely different person! I absolutely HATE it. I feel like I'm keeping myself from making new friends and having fun because I'm so shy at school and around new people. I'm 100 percent sure that my life would be sooo much better if I acted the way I do at home at school. But when I'm around people I don't know well, I always second guess myself and I feel like what I have to say isn't good or interesting enough. People know me as "the quiet girl" and I HATE that so much, because i'm not at all! Sometimes people will come up and ask me why I'm so quiet and it's embarrassing, but what am I supposed to say?? But I'm scared to just suddenly become more outgoing, because people will be so surprised because I've always been quiet. I'm not sure how they would take it. How can I be more outgoing around people I don't know? Should I care how people will think of me if I change?? Please help me!!

 

Hey girlie! Sounds like youre just shy until you feel comfortable around new people which is totally normal. You def shouldn't care what anyone else thinks. Just keep being yourself and you will come out of your shell soon enough!

HEY MOD!!! Wats up? I am really bored bcuz i am sick again Frown On thursday my spanish teacher came to school sick and got half of my grade sick. I am a jr and most of the more adv classes have only half of their students in them. I am really pissed at my spanish teacher.I have been sick since sunday. Ithink its a flu bcuz i have a fever, conjestion, sinus headache, phlem, lots of sneezing and i am achey. Does that sound like the flu to u? btw sorry i am just really pissed and need to vent to someone.

I can imagine what ur going through...well my dad probley can. You see my Dad's whole family is Catholic, and so was my dad. My mom n her family her Lutheran, n when my dad met myy mom, he learned the Lutheran beliefes and became Lutheran. Now my whole house family is Lutheran.
