I want to reinvent myself next school year!

I'm going to a new school next year. I don't just want to fit in. I want to stand out and have guys falling for me. How do I change my style and my personality?

Mod! I have horrible grades in math and spanish. I try really hard in both of these subjects, but I can never get an A or at least a B. Also, it's hard for me to remember things from school. My parents say I need a tutor, but I don't like tutors! What should I do? Thanks! Smile

 

Hey girl,

Don't be afraid to let your teachers know if you need a little extra help. That's what they're there for! See if you can meet with each teacher either before or after class to go over whatever you don't understand. They should be more than willing to help you out! And to help you remember what you are learning in class, flash cards are always great for that stuff!

MOD! I want to go to camp. I am not overweight, but I am fat, want to strengthen up (because I can only do one push-up and then get really tired and I get tired climbing up the stairs), I want to change my eating ways (I usually don't eat breakfast and snack way too much), I want to try and not be shy anymore, and be happier (I always never feel good about myself Frown ). I went onto their website and saw other kids that are overweight and more fat than me, when I weigh less and is a bit less fat than them. I feel like this is the right camp for me. What do you think? Hey girl, I think in terms of that camp specifically, that's a convo you should go with your parents. But there are tons of other camps (leadership, etc.) in your area that help you with those things too. I'd definitely look into a camp for the summer in general because it's a great way to make friends and have fun!

I agree with the school shopping but sitting with a bunch of diffrent people each day may make the kids at school think your ethier trying to cram yourself in or you can't stay put so your untrustworthiy. you probly aren't but kids minds don't work that way. no one is "oh a new girl. let's be friends!" they're more"oh, a new girl." and get real deffeinsive for popularity places.

Dress in something comfy and special!  Go with a pair of jeans {dark jeans are nice - they're sorta dressy but still casual since they're denim}, then pair it with a fabulous top: pick one that is sparkly, has a gorgeous floral print, or that is in a bold color.  Finish off the look with a high ponytail and a cute pair of flats for a look that will let you dance the night away and feel amazing while doing it Smile

I had the same thing happen to me last year! I was starting middle school/junior high and I was like, "You know, I'm tired of being the normal girl." I got cuter clothes, really showed people what I love to do (which is sing and dance) and talked to everyone! I didn't "fit in" in the bad way, but I stood out and became a lot of people's friends. I became popular and I also got a really cute, funny, awesome boyfriend! So don't change your personality, just let it show a little more.

Get some jewelry and some adorable shirts from stores like The Gap and Old Navy. Wear a stylish shirt(not a big T-shirt), jeans, converse sneakers, a necklace, a bracelet, earrings (if your ears are pierced), and lip gloss. There is a such thing as too much make-up.

MOD, I have a problem. I am in sixth grade and so is my friend "D." Theres this 8th grader on my bus, H, and she acused my friend D of poisoning her puppy just because it was in her yard for a bit. I know she would never do that because she loves animals and so does the rest of her family. She was being rude and called her a bad name and made D cry. And to get her attention she calls her fillipino girl since shes half philippine. And Theres these other girls that are on the bus, G and J. and they are like H's group of wanna be's and they were mean to D and me the day after. I didnt even do anything, I didnt say one word to her. G called me barbie and asked me where Ken was. Me and D were talking to our other friend A and G said dont hang out with the barbies. What does that mean? I kind of think she was trying to be mean but wouldnt that be a compliment since barbie is perfect? What do I do? Do i kill her with kindness? Ignore her? I need some help please, thanks Smile

 

I'm so sorry to hear about the drama, but it sounds like you've already got some good ideas!  Sometimes ignoring works best in these situations.  Try to ignore them when they make silly comments.  If they are very direct to you, being kind and staying above the drama is a good way to deal.  Also remember that you have an awesome bud that you stick together with - that matters more than what some other mean girls are saying.  xoxo

Hey girl, I wouldn't stress what your friend said or even assume she said anything negative at this point. You're moving in two months so just focus on enjoying the time you have now with your friends. Tell them the news as soon as you can too so they're prepared to say good-bye too. Stay strong and know moving means a chance to make new friends and to lose the ones you don't want in your life anymore. With Skype, Facebook and texting, the ones you want to keep can always be there.

Hey girl, I'd suggest getting involved in a school activity (theater, sports, etc.) to meet new people too in your grade. If you happen to have lunch with your cuz, ask if you can sit with her table. Def don't limit yourself to her friends though. Branch out with school activities and make your own crew too.

I have a sore throat and I'm losing my voice, but I have to sing a solo tomorrow. It's not a big deal if I have to not do it, but I'd rather be able to sing it. Is there anyway I can improve by tomorrow? Also is there any sore throat remedies that work?




Hey girl! Try to get plenty of rest today. Also, if you gargle with salt and warm water, that will make your throat feel better. Drinking tea with honey also helps. Best of luck!

The club is divided into smaller sections such as "The Book Girls chat" or "The movie l♥vers" and things like that. The members of this club can make their own articles all over my or their profiles about what their club is about.

That's it! I'm thankful for who I have, but I'd like to make new friends but I'm very shy. One girl in my class had never heard me talk before until a month ago. Thanks in advance!! You could always try a new hairstyle or outfit to shock people. The best thing to do is walk around with confidence and not be scared to strike up conversation.

Hello well its the fourth time i posed this up, it would never show up.
I recently found this new amazing body wax, that i would lovbe to try, the only problem is that it requires to be put in the microwave for 10 seconds, i dont now own a microwave do you think i can maybe put the ax in a mini oven and watch it carefully with an adult help ???
I would loe an answer ive been tryin to find a good wax since months.

I did this samee thing last year except i wasnt going to a new school. I definantly think i changed myself for the better because i now see the world in a more relaxed way and theres not quite as much stress. ok, so last year i became the gf of this guy, but this year we were in separate schools and we didnt talk until i finally got a facebook, and on it, he told me he loved me! i dont feel the same way, and i thought we had broken up, so i was crushing on this other guy. i got my best friend to text him that i dont wanna go out anymore. he was all like:

i wouldnt be able to, ill be out of the state
but u said that u were going to hang out with jasmine, and she lives near me
yeah... (me improvising) but thats only for one saturday and for like an hour before i have to leave...

1. I'm going into 7th grade and im soooo scared and excited cuz I want to go but i'd wrether just stay at my school cuz i mean i saw a 6th grader totaly meltdown on the wast day of school in 6th grade and im like that is soooo not going to be me but I get out in 6 days and now im like that is sooooo going to be me plz help im sooo scared
2.ok so im going to be in athletics next year so i have 2 get a sports phisical i was wondering if i would have 2 take off all my layers




No you shouldn't have to. As for the meltdown, maybe that person just cannot handle stress. It is always going to be that way. Don't feel bad about going into the next grade. I'm sure it will be great!

Don't change who you are just because you want to fit in. What's gonna matter in a couple of years is what job you have, and who you have rooting you on to do your best in life. Trust me,I'm at the end of 10th grade,I know.

1) My grandma thinks dangly earrings (even small ones) are slutty. (She said something like fooshie, cause she doesn't like saying stuff like slut around me, even though im almost 14...) I live with my grandparents cause both my parents died when I was 5 months old, so I can't just ask my mom to let me wear them. I've already talked it throung with them (including her "fooshie" explanation...hehe.) Help?
2) As you can see, my grandma is VERY protective of me. Any ways to let her loosen up? I get that I can't go to the mall without at least 4 freinds and stuff, cause I'm still not THAT old yet, but she's suffocating me!

You could try having a serious talk with her about it. Let her know that you can wear that stuff and still be respectable. Let her know how important it is to you.

hi mod ^.^. ok, i kinda hav a prob similar 2 the one above. i want to reinvent myself for the new school year, and i've pretty much got everything down. the prob is that i also want a new hairstyle. but everytime i go to my mum, she always turns it down. i respect her opinion, but i also want a hairstyle that I want. i want my hair to look gd for ME. not anyone else. how can i tell my mum this? thank uuu sooooooooo much ^.^!!!




Hmm...could you just talk to her about it? Maybe you could have a little heart to heart about how you would love to update your look. You could even ask her for her opinion.

hey MOD
in the morning when i do all my makeup (just eyeliner and mascara) and i brush my hair, everything looks great. then like right atfer 1st period, my makeup is fading, my hair is frizzing, and i feel like everyone around me thinks i look ugly, too. other girls in my school always look great at the end of the day and i never do. i ask my friends and they all say i look fine, but i want to be able to feel "fine" i don't want to feel like i'm ugly. please give me good advice (not saying that you never do it's just other sources aren't really good at explaining what to do or don't give me any advice that i don't already know)




Well first, don't tell yourself that you look ugly. That is just starting a bad trend that helps keep you feeling down. If you want to tame the frizz try something like bed head or fructise products. And you could try waterproof/sweatproof makeup too so that would stay the way you applied it.

So I have an amazing boyfriend named Mike and a close friend named Jack. So Mike asked me out like 2 weeks ago and then exactly a week later I find out Jack likes me. I really really like Mike and I have no interest in Jack other than being friends. I talked to my friend Sam about it and she has known Jack longer than I have and she said that Jack is going to try to make a move no matter what. Jack knows Mike and I are going out and that I like Mike and I only like Jack as a friend. And no matter what I say to Jack apparently hes going to try something anyway. What do I do?? I dont want to lose my boyfriend and Jack as a friend.




Just turn him down when he tries to make a move. Your boyfriend should know that you like him and Jack was going to make a move no matter what. Just turn him down, let him know how you feel and that you just want to be friends.

i have to a project on the war of 1812. 2 problems- it's incredibly boring and i've only gotten to one area (there are like 10) in the past 3 days. and it's in french which also makes it that much harder. any ideas on how i can get myself to actually do the project?




Hey girl, I know how projects can sometimes be tedious. Try setting up a little schedule for yourself. Assign yourself attainable tasks or goals to complete each day until the project is due. Breaking it into little pieces might make it seem easier to accomplish. Also, reward yourself when you get something done with a break or by watching your favorite TV show - something like that. I know how you feel. I haven't done it but I've thought about doing it (over the course of the summer). If you are doing it to meet new friends (or get more guys) then they won't be good friends. They have to like you for you, and although that's a common phrase, it's true.

Ok, this isn't really a question, but I need someone to talk to right now. My friends are going on a trip to Dorny Park tomorrow because they are in my school's glee club, and literally very single one of the girls in my group are going to be there. I'm not upset that I'll be in school alone, I'm upset because they are all gonna go off and have fun and get whole new inside jokes that I won't even understand, and to top it all off, one of them is having a sleepover tomorrow that I'm going to, and I know all they are gonna be talking about is the trip the entire night. I've tried talking to my mom about this, but she just doesn't understand. SHe just keeps goin "Oh, you should of just tried out for the club! Stop complaining, It was your choice" But what she can't seem to understand is that I have no interests in singing and dancing whatsoever. I'd much rather be doing hurdles for track, or playing tennis. I want my friends to have fun, but I hate feeling left out! Any advice? (Sorry this was so long LOL)




Hey girl, that does stink that you will be missing out on some fun. However, it seems like you have your own interests and activities that they might miss out on. Go to the party and be supportive, ask how the day went. But then try to move the conversation onto something that you can all participate in.
