I love wearing flip flops they are my favorite but my feet always end up coveverd in filth and dirt how do i solve this problem without taking loads o' showers or washin my feet all the time

Hey girl,

Flip flops, by nature, are open shoes. That's why we love em - they let our feet breathe a little and show off our toes Smile If the dirt is getting to ya, my only suggestion would be to opt for more coverage. Try a pair of open sandals that are a little higher off the ground or a pair of closed flats.

MOD MOD MOD That kind of helped me a bit. But...since now I'm starting to like boys and I'll be in 5th grade in September, I want to be more fit. Today I went shopping at a store called Siblings, which the clothes were for Skinny Girls. And since I like the clothes there but I need to take XL or L sizes for tops and 14 or 12 for shorts, I was kind of embarrased to shop there. I feel fat in the store but I really love the store! My sister said it's the perfect store to go shopping at. And yea, I know. I do love to clothes. And I would have been fine if I were skinny. These girls were even looking at me when I was at the cash register and kind of giggling. Which made me more embarrassed. Becuz they were skinny! So my need of help is how to be skinny becuz I feel fat. My legs are fatter than the girls who shop there and I kind of look pregnant in some of their clothes when I'm only a tween or preteen! Help!

Hey! Heres a like to some workouts you can try, hope they help! http://www.girlslife.com/post/2010/07/15/Resistance-Bands-Total-Body-Workout.aspx

i dont have any big body problems, but i do wanna get fit. but i cant seemed to get motivated very well. its like, i should, but dont rly feel like it...anyadvice on how to get motivated????? anybody else's advice welcome! <3emsy

Hey babe, here are a few things that motivate me: 1. Try getting fit with a friend. Ask a friend if they want to go for a jog, go for a bike-ride, or do something active. 2. Write things down. Write down healthy meals that you can create with your friends or family at home. Also write down any workouts you do...it will feel accomplishing to keep an exercise log!  3. Create a goal. You could create a goal to exercise 2-3 times a week, and if you make your goal, treat yourself to a mani/pedi or the movies!

MOD MOD MOD!!!!! I still feel uncomfortable after reading this. I hate my body so much. even my friends say im fat, and they have NEVER lied to me before? I cant go out and buy new clothes, cuz we dont have a lot of money. and i would love to win stuff on girlslife, cuz i luv all the clothes on here, but they are too expensive my parents said and i have a slim chance of winning. I have tried losing weight and slimming down, but whenever my mom goes and like buys cookies, i cant resist, cuz when i tell her to buy healthy stuff, she will buy radishes... help!!!

Hey girly, I totally understand how hard it is. Maybe you and your mom can go shopping together for food. There are plenty of good, yummy, healthy foods out there beyond radishes (yuuuck). It's also important to get more active. Play outside, walk, run, to swimming, everything! And start writing in a journal about how you feel. Before you grab a cookie to eat, ask yourself if you're really hungry or not. If you stop to think about it, you might be able to stop yourself in time. Or, when you're going to eat bad, write in your journal about how you're feeling. Maybe you will start to pick up on a pattern (like you eat when you're bored or something). When you want to eat a cookie, go take a walk around the block instead. It's hard at first, but eventually it will get easier. And please remember, you are beautiful. Your friends should not be telling you that you're fat. That's not too nice of them.

MOD!
I get the majority of my exercise from swimming. I have to do it 5 times a week for an hour-hour and a half all year round. But even so, I dont feel i have a very good body. I'm not really fat, but have areas where its clearly visible, even under clothing. When i compete with others in swimming, ill normally beat them by quite a lot. But when i'm in gym class, i'm normally behind. I'm 13 and have been in competitive swimming since i was 5. I've heard that when you do the same workout for a long time, it doesnt have as big of an effect because you adapt to it. I dont want to quit swimming but i want to feel (and look!) better about myself. What can i try?

Hey girl, swimming is a great workout, and even if you do it a lot it will always give you good physical exercise. Everyone has fat on their body, but if you're looking to get more toned try some muscle toning exercises along with the swimming. Good luck!

MOD MOD MOD I want to track my progress in losing weight/getting in shape but I'm not sure how. I could just step on a scale and watch the numbers change, but I'm afraid that my core work (core exercises I'll be doing this summer) is going to replace my extra fat with muscle and add on pounds even if I'm shaping up... how can I tell what's happening and how i'm changing without relying on a scale? I'm not sure how much I want to lose, but I just want to get into shape more and feel better about my body....

Hey babe, Weight doesn't always show what muscle you're gaining, since muscle weighs more than fat. The best way to track your progress is to measure once a week with a tape measure. Measure around your upper arm, your waist, your leg - whatever area you're trying to improve. It will be easier to see your progress in inches than pounds.

xoxo Allie
