Is it true that girls who are athletic have lighter periods? And if it is true then is there something wrong with me or something I should be worried about because I am annoyingly active but my period is really heavy.

Mod mod when I get my period it seems like I get abunch of extra b.o. Is this normal or like hormonal stuff

Hey girlie, I've never heard of that before but it could totally be normal hormonal stuff. It might just be the way that your body reacts to your period.

Dear Mod,
Ok so I have two HUGE questions, My best friend let's call her "Sydney", has the same Cup and Band size and we are around the same height, and she's a few months younger than me but since that, { She has her period, I don't } but will her period last longer since she's taller? Or shorter?
And will it be heavy? or lighter...
2. I still don't have my period, and my mom and I aren't exactly close, {Since I just FINALLY got her to buy me a bra} but my discharge is getting a little bit thicker and we are out of pantyliners and I'm afraid to ask her to get them for me...
Please help me Frown - Panty Problems.

As for the period question, its different for everyone and theres no exact science to how long theyrll last based on physical characteristics. So theres no right answer for that question. Now for the pantyliners question i suggest you write it on the shopping list so she sees you need more. Good luck! xoxo kerra

Mod mod mod (; !
I have a few questions !

Hey girl,

1. No, that will not stop your period. Nothing can really stop it; it's a natural part of life and after a few days each month it will end. 2. An infection will not stop your period but if you have one you need to see a doctor or gynecologist so that you can take care of it with medicine (probably cream, I think). At least ask your mom if you think you might have an infection. 3. Yes, you can be flat chested and have a period — girls go through the stages at different levels and some adults can even be kind of flat-chested. 4. Your period comes out of a different hole than your pee. 5. You are probably sweating down there; there are sweat glands in that area, as there are sweat glands in other parts of your body.

MOD MOD MOD!I'm going away in october, to a camp retreat with my church. While I'm super excited, I can't help be so nervous. I got my period in August, now it's semptember and it hasn't visted yet, but I'm scared I will get my period again during the retreat. I know that I can just bring pads and it will be fine, but we're hardly ever by the cabins and when we were near a bathroom where I could change, everyone would see me. HELP!

Hey girl, I can understand being a little nervous about it, but you can handle this.  If you'll be carrying around a backpack, think about getting a little make-up bag to discreetly store the essentials.  That way, no one will see what you've got.  You can't control when you get your period, but you can be prepared so you don't miss out on any fun.

Is it possible to not have a vaginal opening? Because if I do look "down there" I can't find it. Nor can I EVER put in a tampon. Help!!!

Hey chickie,

Think about it - if you have your period, that means you're all normal "down there" because there's an opening for it to get out, right? I think you're ok! If you're confused about what you see down there or want to make sure you're developing normally, don't be shy asking your doctor. They've heard it all, trust me!

MOD MOD MOD MOD!!!
i need your help
so i have this guy friend, who isn't very close to me and is ALWAYS embarrassed to swear in front of me.
once i was in the WORST mood and he LOVES to tease me and ONLY me (on MSN)
SO I WAS LIKE :I'M NOT GONNA CURSE YOU (JOKINGLY),and he said:"its ok" .
i IDIOTICALLY swore.(i'm NOT that kinda girl,i RARELY swear and i wanted him to feel more comfortable around me ,please don't mis-judge me ,i'm only 13 )
anyway,we can all agree it was a stupid mistake,so he BLOCKED me on MSN and facebook.
i felt SOOO guilty,so i sent him an apology via email.and he said :okay ,we're friends.and he added me on MSN again but kept me blocked !!!
i deleted him, because i felt mad at him and myself.
and now i miss talking to him (i don't like him that way) and i REALLY wanna talk to him but i don't wanna show that i care too much ,he might take it the wrong way,but he's my first guy friend
sooo HELP ME !!! i miss him Frown
i SWEAR i'm not rude .

Hey girlie, I know you're not rude and he probably was too. Apologize again and add him back on MSN.

Moddddd. my cousin was 13 and got electrocuted in july and died. there's more to the story but that's not the point. i still can't get over the fact that he's gone. everytime someone says "my life suckss" or anything like that i always think of how much my cousin apprectiated his life. he ran track and they called hin "cheetah" because he was so fast. i run track and everytime i go to pratice i think of him. i really miss him and nobody understands b/c me and him were really close and told each other everything. Frown what shoud i do?

Hey girlie, keep taking it one day at a time. You'll always miss him, but eventually it's going to be easier to live without him. It's good to do things like running that keep him a part of you.

MOD MOD MOD!!! Smile
At our school we have lockers in 6th, 7th, & 8th grade. They are tall and there aren't enough for everyone so we have to have locker buddies.
In 6th grade we got to pick our locker buddies. This year I'm in 7th grade and we got assigned locker buddies. At first I got like my best friend (yay!). Then a few days I had to switch because another pair of locker buddies weren't getting along and our teacher picked my locker to switch with them. And lucky me, I get the girl in our class who's rude, annoying, bossy, and no one likes her. I had to go to 6th grade camp with her last year, had to sit next to her in tech, and she sat next to me in class for a big chunk of the year. I'm tired of always being with her!
I asked the teacher if I could switch back that day, but she said we'll see how it goes in a week. If I don't switch, I'm gonna freak. How can I politely tell the teacher I really don't wanna be with this girl?!
Thanks!

Hey girlie, wait out the week and explain to your teacher that it's not working out. See how it goes and give it a fair chance before trying to switch. If she continues to be rude then tell your teacher that you don't get along with her and can't share a locker with her.

Hey girly girl, unfortunately periods and moodiness can go hand in hand at times. Since it sounds like you're doing everything right, I would check with your doc and see if they have any advice for you, or anything to recommend!

*MOD My friend (G) is not potty trained. G has to wear diapers... pull-ups, huggies, pampers, goodnights. anything, but mostly just plain baby diapers. G really hates it. G is also treated like a baby around ppl G knows (baby food, high chair, crib, toddler/baby clothes and toys, bottles, etc). It's really embarrasing for G. G even has to be changed/fed by other people. Help please! And, yes, i know this is strange! Thanks!

MOD MOD MOD!!!
Lately I've been noticing things about my stepdad that really annoy me.
I think it's because when you're growing and all you get your own opinions and you become more of an individual. That's like what's happening to me.
There's this boy in my class, and he got held back in kindergarten. He's not very good in class (he has trouble learning) and he tries way too hard to be funny and cool. But he's a pretty nice kid.
My stepdad reminds me of him A LOT. Lately I've been noticing that my stepdad tries way too hard to be a good dad. He trys to act all tough and cool when he's picking me up or dropping me off at a friend's house or a party. He's not very smart, and he got held back when he was in first grade. But he's nice.
It annoys me so much that sometimes I might hurt my stepdad's feelings because I will tell him to stop or something.
I don't want to be a brat! But I don't relate to him at all and he's really annoying me!

hey! I know exactly what you mean, i sometimes feel the same way about some people in my life. But you just have to remember that the most important thing is that he's trying, even if he's not naturally good at being a cool stepdad. that means he cares and that means he's a good person who deserves your respect. When things get hard and you feel like being bratty, just take a deep breath  to calm yourself down. it's worked for me. Good luck!

MOD?
do you think small businesses in downtown areas of suburbs would hire 14 year olds? cuz i don't do much babysitting and i wanna have some extra money so i can start seriously saving up for college and buy more of the things that i want- i always feel bad when my parents buy me clothes and things for some reason cuz i know we could be using the money for something else that's more important. so what kind of places do you think would hire 14 year olds? and how do i handle asking if they're hiring and stuff?

Hey girlie, businesses no, there are laws that prohibit the employment of minors. I think you have to be at least 18 for a job in a downtown business area. Around my area giants hire 14 to 15 years olds, snowball stands, and some fastfood restraunts at 16

MODDDDDDDDDD
hey ummmmmmmmmmm well you know how your cycles are suposed to be 28 days apart... is that from the beginning of one to the next or the end of one to beginning of next or what? idk my first period and trying to estimate next one...
**MOD**~~~MOD not an emergency but please answer quickly MOD~~~**MOD**
ok so heres the thing: i am on my first period... i know how to use tampons but idk which absorbency and how long.... :S its super confusing because i was wearing reg pads today (i didn't have heavy and my period was suuuuuper heavy) and i went through 5 of them from 8 to 12... and then i just wore one for 3 hours and was fine now with an over night it is almost full... should i just wait for another period to know my cycle and such?

Hey girl,

1. It's supposed to be 28 days from the beginning of your last cycle.

2. For tampons, I don't think there are different lengths, but there are light, regular and heavy absorbencies. I always use the regular ones; I wouldn't recommend the heavy ones because you aren't supposed to leave tampons in for more than about 4 hours anyway, or change them more often if they get full. You'll probably have to have another period or even a few to get used to your cycle and how heavy your period will be, and how many days it will last. And, a lot of girls have irregular periods at first. Even when a period regulates once you get older, not everyone's cycle is exactly 28 days. Some may be 26, some may be 30, etc.

Moderator!
I know this is maybe the most dumbest thin possible to do, but i had put baby oil in ny bath (only a bath 4 stress n meditation) and then i dipped my face in it! it was very tempting to do because i love water. Should i be on the lookout for pimples and blackheads? Will the oil clog my pores? If i shouls be on the lookout 4 pimples and etc, what are some soaps and scrubs to help stop stuff before they start. Thanks!

Hey girl, I wouldn't expect that you'll definitely get pimples and blackheads if you don't normally - but you might not want to put your face in next time you take a bath with oil. If you want to try to prevent them, make sure you're washing your face twice daily: once in the shower and once at the other time of day- morning/night. Cetaphil, Neutrogena and Clean & Clear all make face washes that you can probably find at Wal-Mart. While you're in that aisle, check out what kind of scrubs they have, too!
