all my friends made the cheer team and i wanted to try out but it is 900 dollars and i am going to a camp that is 1,000 dollars so my 'rents said i could do the cheer team or go to camp i choose camp but all my friends ever talk about is their cheer team i don't want to be rude and ask them to stop but thats all they talk about!!!! what should i do

Hey girlie,

Let them enjoy their cheer team - you'd be excited too if you were doing that! At the same time, try to participate in the convo too! If you're missing out on a joke or memory, ask them to fill you in. Share your own fun times at camp with them to make sure both sides are kept in the loop Smile

Hey girly girl! Maybe you could ask one of the cheerleaders to work with you and give you some tips? Or, you could talk to the coach and tell her how much you want to make the team, and ask if she has any idea of things you can work on?

MOD MOD MOD!!!! hi and thnx. ok so next year for high school im goin to do swimming(which i currently do) and tennis. but i also would like to do cheerleading. the thing is my dad would says its not a sport and my mom would say its too many sports. while i agree with my mom in a way, i would still like to tryout. do u know any benefits of cheering? and wat should i tell my parents? thank u sooo so so sooo much!! u guys r the best!!! <3 <3 <3

Hey chica! Cheerleading is DEFINITELY a sport. It requires lots of discipline and is so awesome for your fitness! Your mom could be right--overloading yourself with activities wouldn't be great, so make sure you're saving time for homework. If you have your heart set on cheerleading, explain it to your parents! Hopefully they'll understand where you're coming from.

Just keep practicing and stay on top of your split, and holding it. Don't sit over, or your no longer doing a good split.

@emmy201 Smile ok. im a cheerleader/dancer. lots of stretching. stretching will help all ur jumps. just like my dance teacher said stretch til it hurts then once it doesnt hurt anymore go further and further. it will take time getting all the way to the floor. as for ur cartwheel, i cant do a cartwheel either. i can do a front handspring. they are uber easy. just flip your self forward then go to a handstand then flip back and land. easy as that. just practice practice practice. like 2 months before. if you only have a couple weeks, push it girl. i feel the same way too about it snowing. its cold and everything. but whatever. to run, run up and down ur stairs. dont fall. Tong i hope this advice helpedd! (:

Hey girl,

You could do a lot at home! Toning exercising like yoga, crunches and push ups will help make you stronger, while kickboxing and dance training can act as the cardio part of your workout. You could also ask for some free weights for Christmas and lift weights to build muscle!

I want to try out for cheerleading next year in jr high but i have two problems. I'm pretty sure they don't have a cheerleading squad for 7th graders and i cant even do a perfect cartwheel and i know you have to know a lot more than a cartwheel to be on the squad...and i can't practice anything outside because there is snow and i have a small room i have to share with my sis so all i can do it stretch.

I'm a all-star cheerleader and I've done it for 6 years! here are some tips for u:
1.STRETCH-stretch ur muscels every day as far as they will go bc flexibility is a huge part of jumps and if ur a flyer, u have to be flexible!
2.SMILE-allways be in a good mood! everyone loves to see a happy cheerleader!
3.PRACTICE-tumbling is one of the hardest parts of cheerleading. u have to learn how to do it, get spotted on it until ur ready, get the courage to do it by urself, then perfect it! it honestly took me until this year to get my backhandspring!
4.ENJOY IT-its easy to get carried away with all the work cheer is, but the most important thing is to have fun!!!Smile

good luck on trying out! im a cheerleader and just practice what you know and try your hardest when it comes to tryouts. Stay tight and be as happy as you can. Having fun is one of the best things when trying out! Also dont try something that you dont know how to do. It can be very dangerous and you could easily hurt yourself. Good luck!

Hey girl! Cheerleading is so much fun! I have been cheering since i was 7 years old. I have been cheering for my middle school for 2 years and i am a captain this year. Here are some things to work on:
-Jumps. Make sure they are high and sharp
-Enthusiasm. Everyone needs someone to cheer them up once and a while
-School Spirit. On tryout day where your favorite school spirit wear or school colors.
-Motions. Make sure you know each one perfect. Have a friend call them out to you really fast to make sure you know them.
-BE LOUD! you are a cheerleader be loud and keep on smiling!!!
-Facials. A smile is awesome but cute faces that you make in the mirror are a great attention getters.

Good Luck! I hope this works!

Just because you make the team doesn't mean you can be the queen of everything, at first. Hang low for the first 2 practices. Don't try to replace yourself with another really good cart- queeler. Eventually you'll be amazing!

Go for an RCA cheer squad, they do better stunts, and they go to compition, school squads have different rules, and they don't go to compitions.

MOD MOD MOD
Heyy I have been doing volleyball for a while now and I am pretty good at it(:
I really want to tryout for volleyball in high school, but the thing is if I make the team, I have to wear spandex (really short shorts) well my familiy is Muslim, so they are pretty strict about those things. My mom said its okay as long as its only for volleyball and my dad goes along with whatever my mom says, but I am still kind of awkward about it with my dad though.
What can I do? Would the coach let me get a bigger size, so that the shorts LOOK longer?
Thanks!

hey! ask your coach about this, also ask if you could maybe wear spandex pants so that you cover up more. i'm sure your coach will be understanding. good luck!

I tried out for cheering. I took a couple lessons at an all star squad and it really helped. with a toe toach, if u cant get ur legs high enough, try to push ur legs up untill it hurts, thats as high as it can go. thats what i did, at first i coulndst do a toe toach but a month later cheerleaders told me i had an amazing toe toach. make sure when doing cheers your really tight, not sloppy.

MOD! thanks for your help on my other question. that was actually legit good advice! (: so i really like volleyball, and although i didn't make the high school feeder team, im trying out for my middle school team. but next year i kind of want to do or at least try cheer because it looks really fun (even though ik it takes a lot of work, but im totes up for it, im even taking a tumbling class {btw i didn't take it just because im thinking about doing cheer next year), and im a really outgoing, spirted, and peppy person. plus a lot of people do it and i think it would be a good way to meet other people. but volleyball and cheerleading are in the exact same season. while i still have time i want to make a decision! what to choose? thanks! <3

Hey chickadee! I'm so glad that we could help. You could always try cheerleading for a season, just to see if you like it. And if you don't, then play volleyball next year. It's better to have tried, than to always wonder Smile

Yeah, be careful when you're stunting! One of the flyers on my squad broke both her wrists, and just today a flyer elbowed me in the neck(I'm a backspot). Also, don't tumble without supervision. Our captain broke her hand doing a back handspring, and my friend couldn't try out because she broke her arm doing a round-off a week before tryouts. Soo... be safe!

I have 4 hours of each each day, and it is so hard, im not even joking you, our routine is constant movement and we have to go over it over and over and over again.

Hey girl, you should have a doc look at it: it could be the sign of a sprain or fracture that if untreated could get a lot worse.

MOD! MOD! MOD! I'm head cheerleader on my school's squad, and let me tell you, it takes a LOT of work to get to the top. But there's just this one thing, part of the costume is a mini skirt-and I mean MINI! and I've built up FAR too much muscle in my legs (I have more muscle in my legs than my older brother who trains!) but I've got no muscle in my arms and a flat stomach. it looks so weird, I'm normal sized apart from my legs which are HUGE. is there any way to get rid of muscle in my thighs? sooner the better thanks-I've got a big comp in 2weeks! thanks soo soo much!!!!

Hey girl, I don't know of any (healthy!) way to get rid of muscle.  But I know cheer is a LOT of hard work, and your bod probably has muscle because you need it!  As much as you can, try to appreciate your body as it is - it sounds like you are a strong, hard-working chica to me.

Whatever you do during tryouts, DO NOT YELL "Whooooo!" You can get docked points, depending on who's judging!

my friend randomley sent me this message on utube saying omg your so obsessed with your hair get over yourself and then on my channel she put everyone come to my channel its much better than ms. fancy pants bree's account (bree is my nickname) and then on facebook she sent me a message with the subject as actualyl and then all she said in the message was well umm... so i sent her a message saying why are you saying all these nasty things i dont know why you are acting this way but i dont like it. What should i do?

You handled this situation well all by yourself by nicely asking her what was going on. If she continues to be nasty online, you need to tell someone (parents, teacher, preferably a counselor, or any adult you're comfortable with) ASAP and let them fix it. No matter what her reasoning is, it''s not right for her to attack you this way, but don't attack back with words. Let the adults handle it if it gets out of control.

Ok, so last year cheerleading was really fun, so this year I tried out again and made it. Last year, I was best friends with this one girl, but this year she moved. Well, this year there are only 5 girls on our squad (counting me) (also 5 on the grade below, i get along with one but we are just friends, not BFF's or anything) and I am in kind of an awkward place right now. I am naturally shy, but last year I kind of came out of it, but now I'm getting shy again because I lost both of my best friends (one moved, the other doesnt talk to me anymore) and on the cheer squad, the other four are nice to me, but they are good friends with each other and kind of forget about me. I was good friends with one of them last year, but this year the girl she is like OBSESSED with (has to be BFF's with) is on the squad, so she won't talk to me. I feel left out and don't really have anyone to hang out with, and it's hard to break into their group. Thanks!

I cheer, and you need to be sharp. Look online for cheer tips and videos that will help. Always clean, make all your movements clean and sharp. Also facials and smiling are a big thing. Always smile. Also, be loud and spirit, but do not say woo!! Tumbling may be important, but if you can't, just focus on the basics, like perfect your cartwheel, or just work on jumps.

I really dont understand my mom. last year i went out with guy friends all the times and went to partys and hung out with boys and talked to them on the phone but now since i just started middle school and i asked her if me and my friend A could go out with these to boys B and C to the movies she said no and i quote "sounds like a middle school double date to me" im really hurt that she dosnt trust me and also those boys are in the 5th grade and i told her that but she dosnt care. what should i do, i dont want to be a social downer this year and years to come!

Let mom know ASAP that that's not what  hanging out with those boys is about! Help her understand t hat they are your friends, just like all the girls you hang out with!

i am a cheerleader and one of the MOST important things is staying sharp!!! if your arms are sharp then everything looks cleaner!!! also smiling is HUGE! if you are supposed to spirit afterword do NOT NOT NAWWWWTTTTT say whooo! that is a cheer swearword. and most of all just have fun while cheering. if you dont have tons of fun then why tryout?
hope i helped!

I hate my oily skin. I cleanse and use my acne products 3 times a day but it gets annoying and its a lot of work. Is there any way I can get rid of oily skin. People say drink 8 classes of water a day. I did that for a week and no difference!

Hey, girlie! You should try using Clean & Clear Morning Burst Shine Control Scrub in the mornings and their Oil Absorbing Sheets throughout the day (they're little sheets that you rub on your face and they take all the oil off! Perf for after PE or anytime you're out and about!)
