My Period Is Random

I've had my period for almost three years now, and it still isn't regular. My periods don't space out equally, and sometimes I get spotting...

So, I got my first period in July, and it was the 23rd every month. Than about 3 or 4 months ago, I got it 5 days early. Than I got it 8 days early from the 5 days early. Than this month I got it 6 days early from the 8 days early! It really sucks not having a full month of freedom. Why is is coming every 3 weeks instead of month? Is there a way I can make it a month? Also, does ibuprofen take a way the cramps???

No one knows exactly when her first period will come! You're having discharge, which is completely normal and a great sign. It's part of puberty - most girls get their periods about 6 months to a year after their discharge started. But we can't guarantee that - even your doctor can't pinpoint exactly when your period will be here. Just try to read all about it so you're totally prepared when it gets here! <3

Totally normal, girl! It's natural for our periods to be irregular and unpredictable, especially in our first few years of having them. As long as this doesn't happen every week, and as long as you don't go longer than 2 months without having it, you're totally fine Smile

Speaking of cramps, sometimes I get them so bad that I need a hot water bottle. And a full water bottle like the ones you take to sports practice and a chance to doze on and off for a few hours in bed. And that is after I've taken a Noproxen pill with breakfast or juice or water. Yeah, cramps are extremely painful so Noproxen does wonders!! I swear! Oh crap, I think I just got mine now.

I read somthing online about, Female Athlete Triad. Its when a girl exersices intensly they may never have there period. (if i read correctly). I havent started my period yet and im very athletic. I play 4 sports, 1 of which (soccer) is select, so we practice pretty hard. I dont always eat right, but i try when i can. I have been having a lot of white and yellow stuff (discharge if im right) but i havent gottne my perios. Im 12 and weigh about 113 pounds i think. My sister didnt start her period untill the end of 7th grade and im in the beginning of 7th grade. Im just really worried. Should i just relax? I mean is there nothing to really worried about? PLEASE HELP!!!

Hey girl, you should definitely just relax. You're having discharge, but that doesn't mean your period's about to come. For some girls, that symptom comes a year before they get their period or more. Don't stress, eat healthy, and you'll be fine.

LOL sorry Laughing thanks kerra S. for trying to help with the egg sugestion-thats kind of what I thought too, I talked to my mom and she said that it had happened to her before when she was my age and had thought that it was an egg when she was less knowledgeable on the topic... she used to be a psychiatric technician, so it was like she was a nurse and a therapist together lol Smile Smile Smile Smile Laughing so, she told me that it was actually coagulated blood, which makes sense in the context, im just not sure what I did to get the air up there or rather DOWN THERE lolz to make it coagulate, but yeah thats what she said it was and it happened again today so I didn't freak out this time. ok, my period just started for this month around 7:05, now its like 10:10, i put in a tampon at like 7:10(ish), and I took it out like 5 minutes ago... and when i took it out it had light red blood that was normal that just was fresh but it also had a couple of these weird black or purple kind of squishy idk.. i have no idea almost like jelloish which is a weird reference because I ate jello for dinner because I couldnt stomach anything else because of my cramps... but when i pressed a piece of toilet paper to the lumpy black/purple thing it showed up blood red on the toilet paper.... WHAT IS IT!?!?!? am i right to be freaking out?? is this normal!?? PLEASE HELP ME!!!!




The black purpleish part is probably your egg thats now coming out with your period. Every time you have your period, its because you didn't get pregnant and the egg and everything comes out. Dont stress about it Smile it happens to everyone. Nothing to be worried about! xoxo kerra

MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD!!!!! I just came home early from school because I started getting the worst cramps EVER in class. I have had my period since last November, but it's a little late this month. I can tell by my discharge when my period is coming, but nothing has happened yet. The weird thing is, I've been having TONS of PMS symptoms for like, a week which is abnormal for me. These cramps are killing me!!!! Do you think it's really just PMS?

 

Hey girl sometimes you do get cramps before you get your actual period so i would expect it at any second, literally! Sorry you dont feel well cramps are the worst

OMG! One day this girl who is such a retard came and sat at the table across from my friends and I. Well... she had a big red spot on the back of her dress where the blood comes out. It was sooooooooo humiliating for her. A word of advice. NEVER WEAR LIGHTLY COLORED PANTS TO SCHOOL WHEN ON PERIOD!!!!!!

Hey babe, There's nothing to worry about. It's normal to be really irregular for your first few years. Just carry a pad with you whenever you can so you'll be prepared no matter what.

MOD I REALLY NEED HELP! so a couple weeks ago i got my period. at least i think i did. it lasted for a week, but it was dark-brownish and dark red and sticky, not like a normal one. it ended on the 4th of october. today is the 13th and when i went to the bathroom and wiped there was blood, the bright red normal kind! what happened? PLEASE HELP! i'm scared

Hey chica! The best response to comments like that is to give no reaction. Ignore the comment and keep talking to your friends. Then, they'll get bored and stop. Being short is not a bad thing at all, and lots of girls wish that they were short!

I've only had like 4 or 5 periods so far, and I just started my next one. It's super heavy, I'm running back and forth to the bathroom like literally every hour. Tonight, We are going out to dinner in a semi-far town (It's around 30 minutes from here) and then going shopping afterward. Of course that will take about 2-3 hours. What am I going to do?! Any tips or suggestions?? Please reply soon, I don't know when we are going to leave D:

Hey girl just throw some pads/tampons whatever you use into a purse and you can change it in the bathroom during dinner and right before you leave to go shopping! If you dont carry a purse put them in your moms or anyone with you that does. No worries, have fun!!

my little sister who's 11 might have started her period even though she doesn't have enough fat for it but i think somethings wrong because im 13 and just got mine and i haven't had my 2nd one and i do think somethings wrong with her because she doesn't have near enough fat to and she saw blood when she wiped and again im scared for her, what could it be because her period definately isn't ready.

 

Hey girlie, what you think is enough fat and what her body thinks is enough fat are probably different. If she was blood it was probably spotting. When you first get your period is usually irregular so if you got your first one in the last couple months then there's probably nothing wrong with you either.

Okay, so I'm on my period now. I put a tampon in at night, and pulled it out in the morning (not over 8 hours) and when I pulled it out there was some cotton fibers left inside me...I pulled them out but I'm worried there are still some inside me...Can I get TSS from that? I already put a tampon in so maybe it will come out when I pull that one out?

Hey girlie, it's probably just really irregular. Ask your mom if you can see a doctor and find out what they can do to fix it.

actressabigail, periods can be irregular just like the articles on gl say. I wouldnt be nervous because since the signs are there it means your period is probably coming. I would only be concerned if you have been sexually active with a guy and didnt take the right precautions like having him wear a condom or something like that.

We know how our periods affect us physiclaly but they also affect us mentally. I have noticed around my period I just want to kiss my bf more and want to do intimate things with him that I dont think about as much when I am not on my period. Its a very weird feeling to have that happen, I think its a tough to deal with those feelings and to eventually give in.

I know it wasn't a Q but I just wanted to make a comment. Even if you're having those feelings, don't feel like you have to act on them! Kissing is OK if you're comfortable with it, but you don't have to give in for that or anything else... make sure to wait a while before going any farther and you should be older and in a committed, loving relationship, too. Only do what you're completely comfortable with and ready for.

I started my period on Monday and it still isn't over yet. This is only my 2nd period and im a little worried because my first one was only 5 days. It seems like its getting better, but when i wipe, there is still blood. I feel like its never going to end! Yeah i know it sounds funny. So is this normal and what are the signs that your period is going away? Thanks soo much Smile

 

I think it's normal! I think 5 days is a regular length, especially if you're including the days that aren't as heavy. For me, there are a few days that are heavier and then I would say for three or four days afterward, there's hardly any blood but it's still there. For example, in the fifth or sixth day of your period, you may have the same pad on all day with only a few drops of blood (If that happens, you could always wear a pantyliner towards the very end). I think the main sign that your period is going away is just the blood starts decreasing. If you have other symptoms like a headache or cramps they would probably start going away also. If your period lasts longer than a week or a week and a half, you could ask your mom or a doctor. However what you're describing sounds normal. Especially at the beginning, periods do not always follow exactly the same pattern each month.

Hey girl, 

I have never swum with a pad but that might be a little bit risky. I guess if you are going to try it, you could wear spandex shorts, though make sure they match your bathingsuit so you don't draw attention to that area. I don't think I would trust just wearing a pad with a regular bathingsuit because it may float out.

 

If you're not comfortable wearing a tampon, that may not be a good solution either because you want to be comfortable while you're swimming so that you can do your best. It hurts a little bit when you first start using tampons but after you get used to them, it's not painful. Maybe you could talk to your mom about wearing tampons and see if she has any suggestions or help for you. Sorry! I hope your class goes well.

Hey, girlie! No worries! it's really  common for girls to sometimes get their first period and then have a long gap until their second one! It may even be a few months until you get it again!

Hey girl, what/when you decide to wear bras is really a personal choice.  The best advice I can give is to be careful when you where thin or light-colored shirts!

***MOD*** I'm scared I am going to get my period in school, and I have tampons and pads and stuff in my locker but I dont go to the bathroom much in school, I wait till I get home and I'm scared I'm not going to notice I got it and i'll be walking around with a red stain on my pants all day and someone will notice. I can totally understand your worry, but you can take a deep breath - lots of girls worry about this happening, but I actually don't know of any girls who have had this fear actually come true.  First off, it's great that you are stocked up on supplies.  If there is something about going to the bathroom during the day that makes you nervous, like asking for a hall pass, maybe you can practice that once or twice so it doesn't feel as weird.  But rest assured, you probably will notice before anyone else does, so try not to freak!

Hey girl, I'm sorry to hear about the bad grade - I am sure that was disappointing.  The best thing is to be honest - show them the grade, but also tell them what you told me - that you have been trying really hard.  Parents want you to do your best, so they will probably want to talk about any ways that you can improve on your tough spots.  Be honest, but don't be too hard on yourself about it, and hopefully your 'rents will do the same.
