MOD MOD MOD ok well im in high school and i never have time to workout or to spend time with my friends or family during the week because i am taking the 3 honors classes that i can and one of them is even an advanced sophomore class (im a freshman) and i am usually doing my homework until about 7 or 8 at night and i have lights out at 9. i get distracted easily when doing my homework unless it is easy or interests me. i really need to workout because my new years resolution is to lose weight and i need a schedule to follow so that i am not so stressed out. i am really stresed because money is tight and i am trying to do the best i can in school to get scholarships. do you have any advice to help me plan out my weeks? thanks in advance and im so sorry that this is so long...

Hey chickadee! I totally know where you're coming from. If you have study hall during school, or time in between or before classes, I would try to get some work done then. And then start as soon as you get home from school, so that you can get it done quicker. Give yourself a break on the weekends, if you can. Maybe schedule an hour of YOU time each night, whether it be right before you go to bed, or even right after school (if you would prefer), to do something that makes you happy, whether that be working out, talking on the phone or hanging with a friend, or doing something girly like taking a warm bubble bath. You deserve to take a break every now and then! And if you don't, you won't be too happy. And as for working out, you can make up for it throughout the day by implementing little changes in your life. Take the stairs as much as possible. Go back to your locker as much as you can, rather than trying to carry 5 books at a time. That's more exercise right there! Smile

MOD MOD MOD I have finals starting tomorrow and im insanely scared! im in high school and this all goes to college! what can i do to "test my best"?

Hey chica! I wouldl definately recommend hitting the books tonight for a little bit, and then getting to bed early, so that you get a good nights sleep. Tomorrow morning, rise early and study a little more then. And, eat a good breakfast to keep you alert and going. Good luck! Smile

Hey I have all A's in every class but I got a B+ in woodshop And I know someday I'm going to fail it. anyway In science I have all a's and on this packet I got 10 wrong out of 45 and I'm afraid that it will drop my grade down and I'll get punished. I've tried so hard to get all A's but its getting harder. What should I do? I'm only in Middle school! I hope you understand it might not be a big deal.

I totally understand and I'm the same way. Once you've worked so hard for your grades, it can be tough to keep that up as the classes get harder and there's more work. Keep trying your best and I would talk to your parents about how you always put forth your best effort, even if you aren't getting all As. Also, don't be disappointed by a B+! That is still something to be proud of and don't assume that you'll fail in the future. If you are concerned about a specific grade, like in science, you could talk to your teacher and ask if the two of you could go over why the answers were wrong and if there's anything you can do. I think in school, the effort you put in is the most important part! Good luck!

Mod! I overwork myself, and then don't get good grades. I play the oboe, play volleyball, and am on Student Council, on top of homework, plus my mom wants be to be on the cheer team. How do I help boost up my grades, while continuing to do what I love?

hey! it's all about time management. Wright out your extracurricular schedule and see how much time you have left for homework. Then divide that time evenly between subjects and you won't find yourself waiting til the last minute Smile good luck!

heey mod?
So I play the cello and clarinet, and I have seven different groups that I have to practise for on top of both of my music teachers' assignments. Well, academics are just as important as music to me, but I recently got a D on a huge algebra test because music practise is so demanding. I have to choose between being a musician and being a successful student! Do you have any tips for balancing my time between music and studying?

Hey girl,

School always has to come first, so you'll have to make sure that you budget enough time for homework and studying before anything else. Make a schedule of a typical week for you, blocking out times when you'll be in school, when you have music classes and when you will be sleeping and eating. Then, I would decide how much time you need to be successful in school and put that onto the calendar. After that, you can budget your music practicing time.

However, don't fill up every last minute because it is important to have a little bit of time off to relax and build friend and family relationships. It may not help your past grade, but if you want to talk to your teacher about why you got a D, you could mention it and see if he or she has any tips. You could also talk to your music teachers about maybe taking a little slower schedule, if you think that will help.

it's my first year of high school and I'm taking 2 ap courses, Latin, and the rest are honors classes. i think this is enough for me to handle, as i also have girlscouts and softball afterschool, but all of my friends (with equal loads) are piling on the extras. their taking an extra optional ap course and student council in addition and now i feel i should too. i know it sounds like im degrading myself, but if they can handle all of that, helping each other out and such, couldnt i also, instead of bearing my load separate from them? i don't know if i should jon anything or not, especially with finals coming fast. but i started thinking that in my remaining 3 years i could get involved, and now im not so sure..

It's tempting to pile on the work to keep up with friends, but you have to remember to do what's right for you. Don't join something because you think you should, join because you want to. good luck!

I am currently in eigth grade, a B student, &an honor student. I feel like I can do so much better. Sometimes I catch my self dosing off in class, or getting distracted, &even being really quiet. I need to pay better attention and be more participative.
Also, my average is really dropping. If I don't smarten up, I'll be kicked out of my school's Honor Society! Also, hight school is a very big factor.
Do you have any tips to make be be my best? To pay better attention in class? To speak up &not feel insecure and shy?
Please help me, this means a lot.
Thank you sooso much !(:

I can agree! I play volleyball and golf. I snowboard too. I also play clarinet, saxophone, tenor saxophone, and piano. It's alot to handle along with spending time with my friends, boyfriend, and family. Thankfully I have learned to manage it all! (:
