MOD! so I have naturally curly hair right? Frizzz stinks! I even moved up to a place with dry air but it still is puffy! Help! Thanks

Hey chica, try using some straigthening shampoo. The chemicals in the soap will help get rid of the kinks. Check out Target, Wal-Mart, and CVS for some good products. Hope this helps!!! Smile Smile

I have thick, little bit longer than shoulder length, black hair and whenever I try to style it, it falls apart instnantly. Im also not a very good styler. Please help!!

Hey Doll,

Hair can be really tricky to style, and if you're having a lot of trouble with it, you should try simpler styles that don't require tools. If you want it to be curly, an easier way to try it is to scrunch wet hair with curling gel (Garnier Fructis makes a good one) before bed and sleep with it in a tight bun. You should have some waves in the morning, and you can finger-comb them to keep the shape. Also, don't forget about hairspray! It can help hold any style in place, so use it before and after you style your hair. Braids are also something you can try: since you secure them with bobby pins or a hair tie, they shouldn't fall out instantly. Check out some cute braid ideas here, and if all else fails, throw in some cute hair accessories (think sparkly barrettes and pretty headbands) to give boring hair a fresh look.

MOD MOD MOD!!!!! I swim and surf at the beach...A LOT! I put my hair back in a ponytail, and a tight one too, because I hate it when my hair gets in the way when I'm in the ocean. But, it never works! No matter how I put my hair up, it just falls out while I'm surfing or swimming. I need a good way to keep my hair up!

Hey girly! I'd try maybe using some hair gel or hair spray to keep your hair back. Or, try a cute swim cap! Retro ones look super chic!

MOD MOD MOd ok i kno this is out of subject but um im tryin 2 talk to this guy i like but i never talk 2 him and wut if he thinks 'y r u even talkin 2 me? or he says it bcuz im like the quiet 1 in class...

Hey girly! You should TOTALLY talk to him! Maybe start out small, by saying hi or smiling at him when you see him, or when you catch each other's glance. Then, you can progress by asking him a question about class, a test or homework. And, keep building up from there Smile

I need something to do with my hair! It is thick, blonde, and goes a little more than half way down my back. I dont know what to do with it because it is so thick and wavy! Any ideas?

Hey girl, you should try accenting the waves. Maybe try a curling iron, make it even curlier! Give it a go! =]

Mod mod
I'm going to curl my hair for the valentines dance that is coming up, but when I curl my hair, it ends up straight again after an hour or so. Do you have any ideas on how to keep my hair curled without hairspray or mousse or anything like that? Thanks!!

Hey girlie. When you curl your hair, don't wash it the night before. A little extra oil in your hair helps it curl. If you wash it directly before you curl it, then your hair won't hold the curl.
Marly Z.

by SummerButterflies on 2/6/2011 12:44:36 AM

ok so there's our school dance coming up on february 4th and it's not formal but i was planning on either wearing dark skinny jeans, heels and a neon top or a mini dress with bright leggings undernieth.
what kind of hair can i do? i like updos and curls and straight hair but my hair is really short. like my chin in the front and it goes shorter in the back??
help and thanks

Hey girl, I'd try wearing it straight with a cool matching hair accessory. I'd definitely go with the dress too. Play up the bright colors with matching accessories.

MOD MOD MOD!! I have straight/wavy-ish black/brown hair and it's up to my underarm. It's not to long or too short. But I have problems keeping my hair healthy. When I get out of the shower, I let my hair air dry, and it's always a dry, frizzy mess! Even, when I blow dry my hair it's like that! I just use Pantene 'Classic' (meant for all hair types) but I don't know... Since it's always so dry and frizzy, I ALWAYS straighten my hair (pretty much every/every other day!!) and I know it's too much heat! I don't want to kill it, but I don't know what to do with my hair!! Should I use a different shampoo? Could you mention some affordable shampoos that would work for me? Are there any hair products that could help me? Please write back! Thanks so much ;) LYLAS!

Hey girlie, try out FRIZZ-EASE

MOD MOD MOD. I have a bit past the shoulders, wavy, dark brown hair. I had it layered at one time so I kinda have to flat iron it before putting it in a pony so it doesn't stick out. It's really thick and sometimes my really thick elastics break. Are there any ways I can manage my hair or styles I can put it in?

Hey girl! Yes there are endless possibilities with long hair like yours! Try checking out hair tips under beauty on our website! You should learn to embrace your curls and wear your hair down wavy! Try adding some more curls with a curling iron to spice it up! You can even put your hair halfway back by pulling a few front pieces back in a clip! Goodluck girl! XOXO

I have a friend with medium length dirty blonde hair. Its kind of curly and wavy. She wants to know other ways she can wear it to look cute for her new bf. Her hair is about 2-3 inches below her shoulder.

Hey chickie,

Her hair would look so cute if she pulled the top part up (like in a half-up-half-down style) and secured it in the back with a pretty clip! She can go with a ponytail for a more sporty vibe, or dress it up with a lacey headband if she wants to go girly. She could also use a flat iron to straighten her hair for a totally sleek look Smile

MOD!! My hair is medium-brown and straight. My skin tone is fair-medium. I am thinking about getting dark brown lowlights but some people say it will make me look emo-which I'm not. How can I get lowlights that show up without them being black? Thanks

Hey girlie. I don't think lowlights will make you look emo at all. But remember, once you get lowlights, it takes time to get back to your natural hair--make sure you are ready for the change.

MODMODMOD!! Help! So my hair is about 3-4 inches past my shoulder, medium-thick, and I always wear it wavy. The color is a strawberry blonde and I have swoopy sidebangs. BUT what I really need to know is how to put my hair in a messy bun without it all falling out. And if it doesnt fall out, the bun is a weird shape. Could I pleasepleaseplease have a link to a tutorial/website that shows me how to put my hair in a messy bun that would work for my hair type?? Thanks!! xxx

Hey girlie. I can't send you to another site but try messing around with your hair and trying new styles. Also bobby pins and hairspray help ; )

hey, how do i get my hair to be like you see it on the red carpet shows and stuff!

I keep asking questions all the time, but i am not exactly getting answers. i check these sections ALL the time and my questions are never here. what's happening??

Hey girl,

We get a lot of questions asked, so understand that we can't possibly write article answers for each of them. We read through all of the question submissions though and try to choose the ones that we think most girls will be able to relate to! If your questions aren't answered by our articles and they're still buggin' ya, try asking the MODs or a GL girlie who is offering advice on her profile. <3

Hey! I have really really REALLY thin and straight hair that is about 6 inches longer than my shoulder... the only problem with this is that I can't do anything with it! It will never curl or be wavy for more than five seconds, and I am not a huge fan of ponytails or buns. Is there any cute thing I can do with my hair rather than just leave it down?

I havee a little bit longer then shoulderlengt browwnn naturally wavyy hair. and i haaate it when i leave it natural. do you have any hairstyle ideas i could do? I usually straighten it or curl it. scrunching it doesn't work. please dont give me thee website adress this to the main thing for different hair styles, i've looked through a bunch of article, && i still dont know what to do with my hair.Thankyou.(:

Hey girlie. Try parting it differently. Also, if you curl but then straighten pieces (like bangs and top of hair near roots) it looks a lot more natural! Also, try putting it in a side low pony tail and then curling those pieces. Buns are fun, too. Hope this helps.

MODMODMOD i have really odd hair. when i wake up 2 do my hair, it is smooth in the waves and curls and frizz that i cant straighten or curl it. when i scrunch it it looks sloppy. so then i give up and throw it in a pony. whats with my hair? any suggestions for hairstyles?

Hey girl, I know how you feel - I have wavy hair, and it took me years (seriously!) to figure out a better way to take care of it.  It's hard for me to say for sure without seeing it of course, but you could try some laid-back styles, like these ones:  Next time you go in for a hair-cut, ask your stylist if they have any tips for styling your hair day-to-day.  xoxo

MOD MOD MOD MOD is there any good hairstyles for people with straight short hair??

Hey girl,

Try a half up-half down hairdo for the holidays! To spice it up, try gathering a small chunk of hair from either side of your head. Braid it toward the back and secure the braids together behind your head with a clip or barette. If your hair is too short for braids or you can't do them on your own, simply twisting the hair back also works!

Lauren C.

by jasperrose on 12/12/2010 6:09:52 PM

how do you do a messy bun w/straight hair? im really bad @ thm. THNX!

Hey girl,

I have really straight, fine hair too and it's kinda tough to get it all messy. Just try pulling your hair into a ponytail and, the last time you tie the band, don't pull the hair all the way through. If you do it quickly and don't worry about how the bun part falls, it'll look messy like you're hoping for Smile Practice makes perfect too - even when you want to look like you aren't trying at all - so remember that!

MOD MOD MOD ok so everytime i wear the end of the day it's like not there anymore how do i make it stay?! also my friend is always trying to be really popular and she would in an instance choose to go sit by the popular girls over me...she's my best friend...what should i do?!

Hey chica! Well many times make up will ware off, so you should keep some blush or concealer with you to touch it up. As far as your friend... she doesn't seem like a very good friend to me if she keeps leaving you to hang out with other people. Maybe you should talk to her about it or start hanging out with other girls.

Okay, I like this article, and I'd like to do the messy bun with my hair, but last time I got my hair cut the stylist did these weird layers, so now part of my hair is down the my neck and the top layer is about 2 inches long. Any Suggestions?

Hey girlie, if you are still trying to do the messy bun with your new hair, try using bobby pins to secure the shorter layers.
Marly Z.

by crystal904 on 12/11/2010 8:04:11 PM

my hair is seriously curly, a total afro(kinda) it has lots of volume that looks really bad down, i also made a mistake and got my hair cut in layers this summer which made it worse!! it there anything i can do that will allow me to wear it down, without straightening?

Hey girlie. Try using good products to contain the frizz. Also, how to you dry it when you get out of the shower? Don't rub it dry with a towel. If you use a hair dryer, try to blow dry sections. Sometimes, not washing it every day is healthy for your hair, too. The second day it will be a lot less frizzy!

SO tomorrow I'm going to a fancy choir thingy for my little sister, and I have to wear a dark red dress and heels. Three questions: 1. What should I do with my hair? It's long, naturally curly, and blond, and I have side bangs. 2. Should I wear a black fitted blazer or a white cardigan? 3. What should I do for my makeup? I really want to embrace the holiday spirit, but I don't want to do the whole green and red thing. My skin is uuuuber pale, and I have greem eyes, if it helps. Thank you! xoxo

Hey girlie. Wear the black fitted blazer and put your hair in a loose, side, messy bun or pony tail. Use hairspray to keep it all in place and definitely play up your side bangs (straighten them while leaving the rest of your hair curly). It will look very chic. Try wearing a bright red lipstick-this looks great on blondes and with pale skin. I know it's bold, but trust me, you will be sure to turn some heads. Have fun girlie! You will look great.

MOD MOD MOD! right above my upper lip there's an area that's slightly grayish. Even more so with makeup. How can I get rid of it? I tried hair removal but it's still grayish. Thanks!

Hey girl. Try talking with your doctor. Have your parents either look at is or set up an appointment with a specialist. They will know what is wrong and how to fix it.

I want to join my highschool's swim team next year (I will be a junior). I think swim team would be so fun and just a great exprerience and good exersize, but I have never swam competitively, while lots of the other people on the team have. Do you think this is practical and if so, any tips for making the team next year? Thanks!(:

Hey girlie. I know swimming is a tough sport-morning practices and a pretty tough workout. But a lot of my friends have done it and love it! Competative sports are great to do in middle school and high school. Studies show that students who compete in sports will do better in their careers. I would talk to the swim coach about your interest in joining the team and ask for workouts to do so you can be prepared for tryouts. The coach will be impressed by your willingness to start training and your desire to join the team. It will not only prepare you but also set you apart from girls you will be competing against because the coach will remember you coming up to him/her and asking for advice (not everyone does that). You can do anything you set your mind to so make it a goal of making the team and then GO FOR IT! Keep me posted on what happens : )
