Period days and wearing white was a no no for me. I used to think of it as a curse,but adira period panties has changed that concept for me for good. I used to think that on its initial use I would face skin problems but none of such issues I had to go through.

I had major staining issues,and my heavy flow required a maxi pad.Even after wearing a maxi pad i used to stain myself.Later i got to know about adira period panties and it did an impressive job,by keeping me stain free.Its available in both boxer and brief types.

I've have had all these symptoms (and discharge) for a while now, but I'm 4'9 and 80lbs. Does this mean I won't get my period till I'm at least 5ft and 100lbs? Or is it coming? And can u plz try to give me an estimated time? My mom got hers when she was 15 but I'm 12. I feel so left out cuz all my friends have their periods, except me. Plz help! Frown

 

Hey girlie,

We promise your period is on the way! Having a lean body can cause delay but every girl gets it at different times and you're still young so there is no need to worry! Most girls start having periods around the same age their moms started theirs but since you already have symptoms, I think it'll come sooner than that!

Leg cramps aren't typically a sign of your period, and if you're not bleeding, you don't have it yet! Eating too much will give you a stomach ache, so watch what you eat next time and your period will come when you're ready!

MOD, I need help!!!
What do I do if I get my period at school? I don't use my locker, and I have a male teacher for 2 classes! And how would I change in the locker room for gym when I'm using a pad (they have the little things that fold under)?

Hey girly! Have your period during school is no fun. Rather than go back to your locker carry around a small purse that hold everything you will need. It will also come in handy to carry your pencils and notebooks. As for gym class, changing can be awkward but just grab your shorts and head to the bathroom to change in a stall. No one will notice if you go quietly and if they say something just let them know the situation, I am sure they will understand.

I remember your question Smile Our periods are known for being irregular and kinda mysterious sometimes, especially when they first start! So this still sounds like your period - it just sounds like you might not get a full on, heavy, red period until next month (or even the month after). But still, like I said yesterday, be prepared with pads wherever you go so it doesn't catch you off guard. It's possible for it to come on full-force now, since it started a lil bit this week!

Sounds like your period! Periods usually start off lighter/browner and then get heavier and redder as the days pass, then back to lighter and browner/pinker before they stop for the month. Start using those pads and pantyliners babe!

Hey girl! If you are having trouble knowing when you are going to get your period try keeping a calendar and mark the days that you get your period. This should help you figure out the pattern to your cycle. If things don't seem to get better, you can use the calendar and go to the doctor to show them whats up. It sounds to me like you could definitely be ready to get your period. The white stuff is most likely discharge. But then again, I'm no expert. Maybe you want to check with your doctor to confirm!

Hey! tampons are great. I't tough to learn how to insert them at first but once you get the hang of it they make life so much easier. i recommend learning as soon as you can. good luck!

Hey girl. There should be signs before your period like more discharge or cramps, but if there isn't wear a pantyliner and keep a pad or tampon in your bag.

MOD okay so when i get my period, i get reeaaallllyyy bad cramps and an upset stomach. so bad that i had to be taken out of school several times. i take advil and tylenol but somtimes thats not enough, advice? thanks!




Hey girlie,

You could try Tylenol Extra Strength or a specialized "period formula" like Pamprin or Midol. Still, some girls experience bad cramps that won't respond to over-the-counter medications (or medicines that are available without a prescription). If these pills, heating pads/hot water bottles, and rest doesn't do the trick for you, try asking your doc for help. There are more serious pain medications that can be prescribed by a doctor and can really help girls in this situation!

I am **  and I think i got my period ONCE about a year ago. I've had a lot of the symptoms for a few years. Discharge, sleeping problems, etc. Also, I've been really stressed for a while. Is there something wrong? Also, I live with my dad, so its hard to talk to him and I don't like doctors... Any advice?

Hey babe. Your first period can be scary, but being prepared can help. If you feel like you will be getting it starting wearing pantyliners and if you see a spot of blood switch to pads. mod well the idea of an irregular period kind of freaks me out. because you never know when your going to get it again. ive had mine once and its been 28 days since then. i want it to be regular, but i dont think i want my doc to prescribe birth control to make it regualar. for one i would never be able to tell my parents that anyways and for two im only 12! what can i do? just deal ith it or can i do something else about it?

I've had my period 2 times in total before last february but i haven't had it since. I know that during the first 2 years that you are supposed to be irregular but in march, I had all my PMS symptoms and they were actually worse. But then my family all the sudden decided to start this diet called the Paleo Diet. Ever since we started the diet, my mom and I haven't had our periods. But then recently my mom started hers again and actually had her period twice in May. I still haven't had mine. What's wrong with me? Oh and I have gained 8 pounds since the diet and have not been exercising. Could this have anything to do with it? Plz help!

This weekend I got my period again and I went in the water with no tampon and I got a huge red mark on my bathing suit( it washed out) so now I think I have to use tampons but I am so scared!!! MOD MOD MOD okay so I have had a really bad stomachache for almost a WEEK! I feel like I'm going to throw up. When I eat a tums its gone though. I have really bad discharge, pubic hair and a little bit of arm hair. Is this a sign that my period could be coming? Hey girlie,

You can always wear a panty liner if you feel like your period is coming soon--don't worry, the first few days should be a pretty light flow.  Carry a few pads with you in your backpack also just in case it comes!

MOD MOD! I used 2 wear a pad at night, but then it would leak down the back because I was laying down. I tried heavy and nighttime pads, but they didn't work, so I just switched to a tampon. I put it in right before I go 2 bed, and I take it out in the morning, but I was wondering if there is a better alternative that has less risk of TSS or is just more convenient. Thanks!




Hey girl, I think you could try a super absorbent pad, but keep in mind that  your period actually flows lighter at night! You may find as your cycle becomes more normal, pads are fine for overnight.

Hey girl, a menstrual cup is another thing you can wear during your period instead of a pad or tampon. You insert it, and it collects the fluid rather than absorbing it.

Hey girlie. Technically, once you have your period, you can get preggers. But, that's pretty doubtful that it would happen at such a young age. 15 and 16- yes, but 11 is a little young for a body to be ready for that.

MOD im going to the beach over break, and i know its recommeded to wear a tampon, but i feel really uncomfortable with that! can i just wear a pad, or could i not wear anything at all?




Hey girlie -- wearing a pad would be the equivalent of wearing a diaper; it would swell and won't stick, as it will be wet. If you go without, there's also the possibility of leaking. You could always try a menstrual cup if your uncomfortable with the idea of tampons.

So I have been getting every symtom possible to show my monthly gift is coming… but no gift... The other day I went to the bathroom and this thing was like sticking to me. i pulled down my erhm... pants and it just like went together and sat on my pantyliner (that i use because of heavy discharge) It was realllllllllllllllllllllllllly sticky discharge so it looked like a booger almost but it wasnt yellow or anything. THEN I got to class and my face started BREAKING OUT!!!!!! like no joke. Is this a sign? since then i havent gotten any more of that but the pimples are still there and the discharge is still heavy...

Hey girl, it could definitely be. Be prepared with pads and know that while no one can tell you when exactly your period will come, it's always best to be prepared and safe than sorry.

That is your period and that is just what happens when youre on your period. There will be times when darker lumps will come out. Its just the lining of your uterus coming out (ie your period). Dont worry! Its completely normal Smile

Haha! I have been having my period for four years (since I was nine) but still found this quite useful. Smile I first got mine at a theme park when I was on a water ride. I was with my friend. I was going to change out of my bathing suit, saw it, knew I must have gotten it, though "Me having my period = no pool party tomorrow. Did I bleed through? Nope. Better not tell my mum till tomorrow AFTER the pool party." I must say, I lucked out. I never bled through. Laughing Haha.

MOD MOD MOD!! Usually i hat taking showers when i'm on my period. I just did on my third day. My flow was slowing down, and i could move without much trouble. But after i got out of the shower, the flow was super fast and heavy, and clots of red and it was just too much to handle! I have major cramps now, on the third day when i didn't the last two. Hey chica! It doesn't sound like anything is wrong. Some girls just have heavier periods than others. And, as you're growing up, your flow will fluctuate. I would maybe try a tampon. That would make showering easier!

MOD- whatever that is. Okay so this may be long. I have had 4 periods and they have all smelled really bad! The first one was because I was afraid to clean myself down there but now I clean it very good down there. It still smells! Why!? I think maybe it was because the blood dried on my hair, and the smell lingered. I shaved ALL the hair off so maybe that will help!? (: Another thing, the bath thing, you have to wear a tampon!? I don't think that's true, is it?! Also, my pad seems too short! I either find blood on the top of my underwear or the bottom. I told my mom that I wanted longer pads but she just bought the same kind for us! Lastly, she tells me I need to use a tampon by next year (I'm in 9th grade right now) and I'm just not comfortable with that. Pads are just fine for me. Hey girly! Periods aren't very pleasant smelling for anyone... so I wouldn't worry too much about it. They always smell gross. As for taking baths, typically your flow stops when you get in water, so you don't have to wear a pad. And, don't let anyone force you to wear a tampon. Wear one when you feel comfortable. Some girls don't wear tampons at all, and that's perfectly ok. It's all about personal preference. The next time you go shopping with your ma, I would ask to pick out your own pads. You could try some long, super-long, or overnight ones for added length.

 Wow, chica. I'm sorry your school is being so strict. You have a few options. It's really not fair that girls can't carry around purses, so I'd bring that to the attention of your teacher and express to them that you want to be prepared for you period. Believe me, they will understand. Even if you have to tell your guys teacher, don't worry. He knows all about girls getting their first period, so I'm sure he'll understand. If rules don't chance though, you can start wearing sweatshirts or some other type of shirt with pockets and stick a tampon/pad in there. That way you'll always have one with you.

My school gym class just started this semester and it is the first year that we are required to change for workouts on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I haven't gotten my period yet for this month and it should come tomorrow or Wednesday. I am really worried about changing because the ages are 12-13 and some of the girls don't have their periods yet. I have tried tampons and they make me really dizzy so that doesn't work, and I don't want to leak. What should I do? Easy fix! Try heading to the bathroom before you change - that way, you'll notice before you're changing and won't be embarrassed. If you already have your period and you're wearing a pad, just change quickly and don't act suspicious or awkward. No one will notice Smile

Most periods start off with "stuff" that's either light brown, dark brown, or light red. When it gets heavier, it gets redder. So it definitely could be the start of your period - just stay prepared with a pad and see if it changes over the next day!

Hey chickadee! I would definately recommend bringing pads up to your mom. You'll feel a lot more covered, if you know what I mean, when you have your period.  And, there are lots of different sizes that you can get... ones that fit into your underwear. And, honestly, it really isn't a big deal to bring up. I would just mention it to your mom the next time you go shopping together, or sometime when you're alone. She'll totally understand! Smile

I take karate, and we have to wear a uniform and the pants are white. So whenever I go, even if I'm definitely NOT on my period, I'm still nervous the whole time that I've leaked.
What should I do?? I wear a pantyliner when I'm not on my period, but it still worries me. And when I am on it, even wearing a pretty thick pad, I'm afraid that I'll leak. I'm usually there for an hour or two of class, but I still get really nervous!

Hey chica! Take bathroom breaks. If your class is two hours, half way through, go to the bathroom and check yourself. Also, don't worry too much, you will feel it if you leak through. Another option is wear something underneath-like black leggings or tight black shorts. They should help you feel more secure.

#47- haha i would never ask my school nurse for a tampon or pad. i always go to my principal (female, luckly!) for one because i trust her the most. that might sound wierd but its true(:
#27- its not wierd telling my guy friends about that. well some of them. when my best guy friend looks through my backpack (dont know why but he always does) i always say "tampons in the front pocket" and he looks and says "oh found them" with a smile on his face(: its hilarious!

I usually get it during sleepovers. It's either embarrass yourself washing your sleeping bag, handwash it, or buy a new one. Let's just say I'm a pro at getting out blood stains...

I had started my period right before science and started to freak. So when we entered the classroom I sat down in my assigned seat and began to write a note to my friend at the next lab bench asking her for a tampon. Once I had finished writing, I folded the note and stuck my hand out towards my friend. I felt her take the note and turned my head to see her reply, but my science teacher Ms. R was standing there with the note in her hand. I felt my whole body go red and looked down at the floor. She kept me after class and opened her desk drawer and pulled out a tampon and liner and said "Me too,". It was really REALLY awkward and embarassing, but hey, at least she was there to look out for me! She was my favorite 8th grade teacher and we still talk now!

If you ever tell a guy its "your time of the month" they get all silent and dont respond and act really awkward, but i think its reallly funny!
