i'd also like 2 say: dont miss out on cheering cuz its dangerous. life is dangerous and if we were to shy away from anything dangerous, would life really b worth living?

I am on my middle school's cheer squad and we have an actual cheer coach this year. we had two girls fall even though we knew it and practiced hard. i waz a backspot and r flyer, maegan, leaned back on her heels (not good) along with one of r bases catching her foot rong. she fell & i caught her. i hurt my knee not to long ago and stepped back accidentally putting all r wait on it (ow!). lucky we got off with a sore knee and a sprained ankle. earlier that night (being stupid0 1 of r groups stunted w/o a backspot. the gurl fell & hit her head but luckily waz ok. cheer is dangerous, but something we luv.

I hope this doesn't sound stupid, but is cheerleading actually a sport? i know the gymnastics part is but what if its just shouting out cheers?

@hopelt_dancergirl Actually its the leader in catastrophic injuries amongst women, then gymnastics. Also I know a girl who was trained very well and just broke her back doing a basket toss because two girls kneed her in the back when they caught her.

On the fourth day of cheer I fell from a elevator (didn't hurt) and on a twist up I fell like 2 in. away from the base in front of me. My coach always makes us warm up and stretch before we do anything, but she reminds us that their is a difference between soreness and a real injury

just to like put it out there. even though everyone thinks cheerleading is SUPER dangerous, in a study of like twenty high school/ college sports cheerleading had almost the least serious injuries. the only sports with less were mens and womens swimming. i know it is dangerous, but if you're trained right, most cheerleaders don't get seriouly injured.
