MODDDDD!
Do you have any suggestions on a way for me to make money this summer? I'm 12 (I'll be 13 in Nov.). My parents pay me for babysitting my little sibs, but that's only $1 an hour and I kinda want some more money. Plz help!

hey check this out: http://www.girlslife.com/post/2011/03/25/10-money-making-ideas.aspx

MOD! MOD!
ok well im in sort of a sticky situation. all my life ive wanted to b an actress, and ive totally got my heart set on acting. but i havent told my parents because im almost positive they wouldnt approve of it because they want me to become a doctor or something or that sort. i cant pursue my dream without them, but im also too scared to tell them. what do u think is the right thing to do here? should i just forget about my dream and focus on academics or try and become an actress? thx

Hey babe,

NEVER forget about your dream, but also remember that your parents are probably considering practical things to make sure you make the best choices for your future. Academics is extremely important! Approach your parents and let them know of your passion for acting. You should always feel able to talk to them and share your concerns/interests with them! But also tell them that you understand how important academics is, so you were hoping they could help you combine the two. I'll tell you right now - they're not going to be too fond of you dropping out of school to become a movie star. So, if you approach the subject in a mature way and show them your commitment to both acting and continuing your education, they'll be much more likely to help ya out <3

I'm 11 and I really want a job. I don't think that there's any job for me. Can you please give me examples of the stuff I could do. Here's what I'm good at.

Hey chickadee! Since you're so young, you most likely can't get a real job. However, you can get one around your neighborhood! Maybe you could volunteer to walk dogs for your neighbors for some extra cash. Or, petsit for them of they go on vacay. You could even do off jobs... like weeding gardens, cleaning and carrying groceries Smile

I left a comment like a lot of the comments on this page a few days ago, but it never showed up. It wasn't gross or inappropriate, but it never showed up. It was only a little like the comments left, and so why didn't it show up?

Hey girlie. I'm not sure but we get a lot of comments every day, so it might have gotten lost in the mix! Sorry about that! Just ask your questions again!

Hi MOD!!!!!
I'm turning 16 in May. I want a job in the summer, but I have a few restrictions due to my busy schedule. I could only work in the afternoon (starting at 2 or 3 ish would be good) and I could only work 4 days/wk maximum (preferably 2 of those days are Sat and Sun). I prefer to work with people rather than alone in an office. I'm really good at selling products and am pretty patient. What type of jobs can I get?

Hey girlie,

You could do a ton of things! Most places are pretty flexible (and will probably give you less hours since it's your first time working there, which may actually work better with your schedule!). Try looking at places like:

- stores or kiosks in the mall

- a local pool (concession stand or ticket booth would be perf)

- a movie theater

- an ice cream shop

- a restaurant

~MOD~I just turned 13, and I was wondering if you think there are any paying jobs other than home businesses (a.k.a babysitting, dogwalking, etc.) that would hire me, since, you know, my age. I honestly am very responsible, and I have experience with kids and everything, and 4.167 gpa! Oh, and I live in California (do you think there are any laws about this?) I'd especially love working at the roller paldium!

Hey girl! Here are two links about making some money because 13 is pretty young, and I'm not sure how many businesses will hire at that age. Calling and asking though is definitely a good choice. At least you'll know and indicate to them that you want a job! http://www.girlslife.com/post/2011/03/25/10-money-making-ideas.aspx http://www.girlslife.com/post/2011/03/31/Wanna-make-3000-this-summer.aspx hope this helps!

I'm 12 and i'm trying to earn money since i don't get allowances. I want to work at shops and also babysit. (Once i get my certificate) What job should i do??

Hey girlie,

Talk to your parents and see what is best for your situation.  See what is most convenient, because if you work at a store you may need a ride or may have to take public transportation.  Be safe...and good luck!

I have some neighbors who have three adopted daughters- I've never really talked to them, and neither has my mom. But babysitting is pretty much the only job I can do since I'm 12. How do I get to know them and tell them I'm available to babysit?

Hey girlie,

Just pay them a friendly visit--bring over some extra cookies that you baked or something...and introduced yourself!  Let them know you are available and trustworthy!

I really need a summer job. I'm 14 and was planning on training to be a lifeguard or junior lifeguard but I don't think I can because I'm joining the swimteam which literally only opens my Sunday up. Also, I can't find any places that would hire somebody my age. I only have a twin brother so I can't babysit him and my parent's friends' kids are at least in middle school. I really would like some advice on what I can do at 14. Also what are some suggestions for real jobs for my age. Thanks so much (:

hey! well you can't get a job because you're underage so your best shot is asking if your parents would pay you for chores. good luck!
