OK so im only 12 but i have A LOT of hair down there and a lot of times there seems do be ingrown hairs. I have curly hair, but does that really make a difference?

Hey Girl--

It's totally normal to have a lot of hair down there. If you feel self-conscious you can try shaving waxing.

best of luck

all my friends shave down there and my mom said I should so I did. but I got a really bad rash and it didnt go away until after the hair grew back. I really want to shave but I dont want to get anothr bad rash how can i prevent that?

Hey girlie!  Sounds like you got a bad case of razor burn, every girl's worst enemy!  There are creams and other products to keep that from happening.  You can also try exfoliating the area before and after shaving.  Use your loofah or a washcloth to wash the area and use lots of soap when you shave.  Good luck!  xoxo

MOD MOD MOD! I shaved down there and used a shaving cream-somewhat a lot but now it itches and kinda hurts there. Like there are some small pimple/red irritated spots there too. Also, right after I shaved, it didn't cut all of the hair and i could see some from under my skin and poking out like it wasn't cut. I used a new shaver too.

Hey girl,

This type of irritation is totally normal the first few times you shave! Read this article for tips on how to get through this without pain. In the meantime, rub a lil bit of Neosporin on the spots that hurt and wait for it to go away. Try to wear looser clothes and all-cotton panties for your sensitive skin to get used to being exposed!

MOD MOD MOD , i just shaved down there but only on the top cause i thought maybe if i shaved every thing i might get infected but now when i touch the top of my private area its pointy like the hairs and it hurts,i put cream maybe to smoothe it out but it didnt work i didnt cut myself but i also didnt use shaving cream so is that a bad thing it hurts when i touch it like the hairs ?

Ow! Girl, you really should use soap or shaving cream. I like Kiss My Face's shave lotions. I use one that smells like mint and has a cooling sensation. Have you tried antibiotic ointment? Please don't try shaving again until the hair grows back. If it gets really bad see a doc. These articles might help too:

I have lightish brown hair and blue eyes, and I think dark (brown or black) hair on a girl is really pretty and on a guy is really attractive. I want to dye my hair a dark brown, and my best friend also says it would look really good, but I don't know if my mom would let me. I'm afraid if I ask her she might go on for awhile about how I need to be comfortable in my own skin (or hair in this case) and then she'll think I'm trying to not be myself and stuff. ???
Thank you!

hey girlie,

it's still important to talk to your mom and get her permission...dyeing your hair may take more work than you think because you'll have to maintain the color and keep dyeing it in the future...which will cost money and take time! So think about the decision and talk to your mom before jumping into it! Smile

Discharge is something that happens when we start going through puberty. I know its weird but we all go through it and and stuff we notice in our underwear and could be different colors. It could be red and we can also get spotting and thats a sign our period could be coming. We also get discharge from getting turned on and aroused from either seeing or thinking about something like guys and sex and can happen when we are kissing someone.

On my armpits, I have these small bumps that are the same color as my skin. I don't think that they are ingrowns because the hair that grows back grows normally. I don't know if it's my deo(I use dove for senstive skin btw), or if it's shaving bumps, but what are they and how can you get rid of them? Thanks! Smile Smile

Hey girlie--try changing deodorants and see if that helps Smile

My period was supposed to start yesterday. Yesterday, I felt really moody, and I do today too. Last night, I didn't get any sleep because I was up all night with cramps, and I'm still crampy right now! I'm on medicine, though. I have the symptoms, but there isn't any spotting. What's going on?

Hey girl,

Sometimes your cycle does change and you might end up being a day to two late or early.  This is perfectly normal. Just hang tight and I am sure it will come soon!

thanks

Hey girlie,

Make sure you are wearing cotton socks or socks made of other breathable material. You can also check out your local drugstore for some foot powders and other at home remedies. I would also try putting on an extra blanket and try to go barefoot when you sleep.

Hey girl, you need to talk to your parents and hers. Your friend is putting herself in danger and it's important since she won't tell that you let her and your parents (adults) know ASAP before something tragic happens.

ugh i have a check up in 2 wks (doctor) and im always so scared!!!! like this time it sux because i have 2 get 2 shots, and 3 small warts removed. i know its good, so i can get it over with, but im always so scared the doctor will come in and say "you have diabetes" or, even worse, "you have cancer". i know its highly unlikely, since after all its just a normal check up. but im always so scared!!

Hey girl, it's perfectly normal to be a bit nervous to go to the doctor but know he wants to help you, not hurt you. Take a deep breath and let your doc know you're a bit nervous. He'll do his best to make you comfy. As for shots, I totally feel you there. Needles freak me out too. What helps me is turning away and asking the nurse to distract me while she's doing it -- have a conversation with me or anything to keep my mind off the needle. She's usually happy to help and it works very well.

MOD MOD MOD****
I am soo hairy on my upper thighs, tummy, and down there area. I get so self concious about it! I shave my bikini area and also have to shave my "happy trail" (on my stomach) as i've heard it called Smile...the hair grows back so fast and i feel like I am the only one suffering from being so hairy! Is this hair going to be growing on me forever? or is this because my hormones are going wild and it will eventually stop? I really dont want to get it waxed (ouch!) and i have tried Nair on my bikini line and it didnt work well at all. any suggestions? thanks so much! love the adivce Smile

Hey girl, trust me, that hair grows back for everyone. There's a rumor that shaving makes hair grow back thicker and faster: that's not quite true (see the rumor debunked here: http://www.girlslife.com/post/2011/04/06/True-or-false-Shaved-hair-grows-back-faster-and-darker-than-unshaved-hair.aspx) I would say the hair is there in general because of hormones; we all get it. For now, I'd stick to shaving though. It's the best way to combat it other than waxing.

ok so im slightly over weight, how can i lose 5 lbs in a month (and is it healthy)? my body is like unproportional! i have a skinny tummy, skinny lower legs and arms and im really big on my hips, upper thighs and upper arms! also (ik this is awkward but...) i have a big butt, ppl say thts good but im not a fan of it, is there anyway i could lose it? ik it would b hard cuzz thts like a main storage off fat but pllzzzz help! thnx Laughing

Hey girl, losing that much weight that quickly doesn't sound like a good idea. If you are really concerned about your weight (like your doc said you're overweight), then you need to talk to your doctor about a strategy for losing it safely. But from the sounds of it, your bod is totally fine. It's just growing. Eat healthy, exercise and just take care of yourself. Don't deprive your bod of the nutrients it needs now: it's so important you take care of yourself now while you're growing!

MOD MOD MOD!!!
So i am 15 and already have DD breasts. I am scared to death that they will sag. And it looks like they are already. What can I do to reverse any sagging that is already happening and prevent it in the future. Also what would be the best bikini top to keep the girls in place?

Hey girlie,

The best thing you can do is find a bra that fits you well so the weight of your breasts is supported. That way, you'll avoid back/chest stress due to the weight! Unfortunately, we all sag as we get older, but by finding the right bra you'll avoid the appearance of sag when you're out and about. The best bathing suit for you is probably the tankini, which gives you the most upper bod support. If you wanna go for a traditional bikini, choose one with lining and underwire to push those girls up where they need to be Smile

kjc0203, I think the mod is right, some schools are just different because I am pretty sure at my cousins school they require that both guys and girls get checked down there. If you think your school does the checks, I think youtube has help videos about it to make us feel more comfortable.
And I know some medical sites have the videos. The ones I saw showed how the guys get checked all over and yes they showed everything on an actual guy even down there, so if you dont want to be a doctor or nurse I wouldnt watch those. Smile Smile

ok i have to get a pysical for athletics next year and after reading some of the comments on here it makes me wonder if the docter looks "down there" and my school district had some pysicals you could go to but they only checked guys down there.... would my personel doc even though im a girl?

Hey girl,

Physicals vary from athletic program to athletic program - yours might not require a full check up, so try not to worry right now! If they do, they'll probably specify that and you'll get to choose where you get it done. That way, you can do it at a doctor where you feel more comfy. I promise it isn't bad at all! Smile

iluvnerds10, Sometimes when we play sports we have to get checked out down there but not always. Its only the guys that have to get checked out down there every time. Thats what I know and I have heard guys at my school talk about it. Its because guys can get testicle cancer and its more common when guys are teens, so they have to check both of their testicles for lumps. Most of the time I dont think we need to show our down there but if we do its not a big deal.

i always wanted to shave my 'down there' but i'm sorta scared Frown Tong mom says it's ain't rocket science but i dunno ..is there any benefits for going bare down there anyway? and waxing sounds painful ..& i'm not sure about razors . but my friend told me that when she shaved her 'down there' with a hair removal cream the skin got darker & she got painful read spots !!what do u say? advice ?
thanks for your time babe Laughing <3 Peace !!
good day..

Hey girl!

For starters, try shaving just your bikini area first. A razor is the best thing to use, and shave in the direction that your hair grows. Shaving all the hair in your pubic area is a personal preference. Just do whatever you feel most comfortable with. Be sure not to use hair cream, because your skin is super sensitive down there and can have a bad reaction to it.

MOD i have a question so yeah this year im going to try out for the tennis team (practice starts tuesday) but anyways i know i have to get a physical and all that good stuff. And i remember that when my little brother and sister had to get a physical the doctor had to look down their pants. I just want to know if she will do the same thing just look down or like full on inspect everything down there... well i kinda said it funny but you know what i mean thanks

Hey girl,

At your physical your doctor will probably just look down there, but she won't do anything more than that.
